View Full Version : Needing an egg donor or donated embryos
Hi All, I am new on this forum but just a brief outline on us. My husband and I have been together for 10.5 yrs and married for 3 of those years. We decided we wanted a family but unfortunately last year we found out that my husband has a condition called Sertolio-Cell Only Syndrome which means that when he was born he was born without the germ cells which produce sperm. And so, he doesn't produce any sperm at all and never will. We were using donor sperm for a few IVF cycles but now we've been told by our dr that my eggs are no good and so the only way we can ever have a little wonder of our own is to either find an egg donor (so we can use the donated sperm at our dr's clinic) or find a couple who are willing to donate their embryos from a cycle which are left over. So here I am seeking the help of someone who can either donate their eggs or embryos to my husband and I so we too can enjoy Mothers and Fathers Day.

Hi Rach,
i too am needing the use or egg or embryo donors. They have no idea why my eggs wont fertilise although they are fragile. 3 IVF cycles later and no baby, not even an embie to put back. I thought I would ask, does your clinic have an embryo donor programme? I go to Repromed and they do have one, even if it is about an 18 month wait...

Hi, My clinic has a long waiting list for donor embryos. My dr said I'd have better chance finding an egg donor.

my waiting list at the moment can be up to 18 months, however they let me go on the list while trying other things, so its helping me know if all else fails I have that happening also. How did they know your eggs were bad, did they fertilise? The only reason I ask is I too went through 3 IVF cycles as DH morphology was low so we used ICSI, on each attempt they told me my eggs were fragile, and none of them ever fertilised. We have no reason why they wont fertilise... We are seeking another opinion from another clinic. I hope it all works out for you hun and your dreams come true. lets hope next year we will be looking forward to mothers and fathers days.

Just wondering whats involved in egg donation. I have wanted to donate for a while, though now I'm pregnant, but what would be involved and is it expensive? I have considered offering my uterus to my aunt, which I'm hoping to still do, but would really love to do the donation as well because I would love to give someone that gift of a newborn baby...Valentine
 ... have a read through the stickied info in the egg donor forum. There is a lot of fabulous info there that will give you a good idea of what's involved etc.

hi rach18, I hope you have success in your search. I am in the same situation although I am single, so am looking for egg donor/embryo donor. sperm donor also, but I can get that from the clinic, although that is in short supply. Unfortunately, I am too old now for the clinic waiting lists, which was 5-6 years, and after being on for 2 years they have now wiped me, due to their change in age. so my chances now rely on private advertising. Once again good luck

when a couple have a number of frozen embryos, and have decided that they have enough children, after a time a decision has to be made as what to do with the remaining embryos. Do you want them destroyed, or donate them to a person/couple. some are donated for research. If you are under 35 and prove to be fertile, yes you may still have children after a donation. Some people donate more than once. Most clinics ask that you have completed your own family first, this would be dicussed with you ivf clinic.
