Any ideas?

Hi ladies
Has anyone experienced prolonged spotting after AF?
AF before last lasted 7 days with meduim to light flow. Then for a further 6 days I had what I consider spotting - the usual monthly discharge (sticky, creamy etc) was coming out brown, sometimes pink tinged.
I went on to ovulate and had 11 day luteal phase. AF this time lasted 5 days medium to light flow. But I am spotting again (on day 5 of spotting now with no sign of stopping)
I decided to go to the doctor today to see if he thought there may be a problem. He asked heaps of questions and then said there is a long list of things that could cause the spotting and to be on the safe side he is referring me to the gyno. I have an appointment on monday.
I was just wondering if anyone has ever experienced this? What caused it? Is it serious?

Hi Fluffball :wave: . Sorry I don't have any advice for you, just wanted to say I hope the gyno can shed some light on it for you on Monday. I'm sure there are so many reasons it could be, so try not to worry yourself!

fluffball - :wave: No your not a freak my last cycle was the same AF arrived and was medium to light and for the next 3 days I had this brown discharge (sorry for TMI), then what was meant to be CD 14 I got heavy bleeding and brown discharge on D 15 & 16, I had a BT on CD 15 and they told me I just O'd but couldn't explain the bleeding, my fs said that it would of been a cyst or an early m/c and my hormones are out of wack. Got to love those hormones, so now I am waiting for another BT on Friday to see if AF will arrive again or was the bleed Day 1 again, who knows. Makes it hard to Bd at the right times or what you thought was going to be the right time.

Update for those that want to know...

Went to see gyno... he asked the usual questions and then asked to have a look at my cervix (and do a pap smear)
So he has a look and says I have a 'bleeding spot' on my cervix.
Didnt really say much else. Just said to go back next tuesday and to go have an ultrasound on saturday. Once he has the results back he'll hopefully have more of an idea of whats going on.
Left me feeling a bit lost really. Dont know what to think really. He didnt try put my mind at ease. Didnt say its anything bad though.
Anyone ever had anything like a 'bleeding spot' on their cervix before?
