I've taken the first step and enrolled at Uni SA in their Midwivery Course. :eek:

I have no idea how this old brain is going to retain all the information, but I've loved this Doula Course so much, I really feel compelled to go on further.

I am 44 now, so wouldn't be finished till I'm 47, do you think this is too old to persue this? Would you feel comfortable having a trainee midwife who is this old?

My main focus when I am qualified, would be home births/water births/lotus births/hydrobirths etc I know i need a lot of experience with hospital births before I persue that avenue.

Anyway, I just wanted to share :smiliedance:

No! Retirement age isn't until what 60 these days? You have plenty of time!!

Good on you for enrolling and persuing your dream! I think that's fantastic!

My Dad just had a HUGE career change at 50 and hasn't looked back! Best decision he ever made! :yes:

You are never to old for education :)

I would feel happier with an older student midwife than a younger one - especially one with all the experience you have had. You've been on both ends of the vagina :D

no way you are not too old i have applied for bachelor of middy and i am 39 so if i am not too old nor are you good luck with it all

When I did nursing 4 years ago, a good number of students were over 40. Good luck and well done!

Agreed. Mothers make for the best midwives and doulas - wisdom and instinct. Go for it!
