Just wondering what, if any, pregnancy vitamins mummies-2-be are taking. I'm on Blackmores Pregnancy and Breast Feeding. Unfortunately I only started taking them at about four and a half weeks - as our latest noodle was a happy surprise bubba!

I am taking Cenovis Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Formula.
Is it advisable to take extra folate as well? And what about calcium? I haven't been feeling much like having ANY dairy products for a while...

You should take a folic acid supplement at the very least to prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida but some people also like to take an iron or calcium supplement.
Some people also take a mixutre of multivitamins in one tablet (blackmores, elevit etc)

 I seriously never knew!!!! EEEK!!!! Are you meant to take them the entire pregnancy??... I never took anything with Tyler... and nothing so far with this one!!!.....
Now I feel horrible!!!!
Are they expensive??...
lol Cass dont stress... It is best to take some, even if its just folic acid (cheap as at the supermarket - less than $5)
I take Blackmores Pregnancy and Breastfeeding tablets, they are about $20 for 60... (2 a day) they have everything in them... elevit seems quite pricey...

Cass - Don't stress! I only ever take Folic Acid until 12 weeks and then my Iron supplement the whole way through. I don't bother with any of the other ones. :o
Oh and the only reason I take Iron supplements is because I'm aneamic. I'm always on them so it's not just a pregnancy thing! Don't worry!

Cass u dont really need to take iron tablets unless u have low iron levels..
folic acid is one that u could take just to be on the safe side.. but u didnt take any with Tyler and he turned out fine:)
Dont stress:hugs:

kbeck - As long as you are taking folic acid as a minimum then it doesn't really matter what tablets you take. They are really all the same.

Im taking Blackmores pregnancy and breastfeeding Gold (it was on special) 2 a day with Iron Tablets as i got anemic last pregnancy and nearly needed iron injections YUK apparently they hurt alot but if bubs needed them i would do it in a heartbeat. I did have vit c last time but this time im just drinking lots of orange juice for that.
Does anyone know if u can give blood while breastfeeding? i know u cant if your pregnant.
Hi, I'm taking 'Natal Plus' my natropath recommended it but I have been struggling to get all the tablets down each day! There is about 7 each day! So I was thinking of changing to elevit after this pack runs out.
You cant give blood til bubs 9 months old... breastfeeding or not :)
Im finding the Blackmores preg and breastfeeding tablets good, but hard to swallow too!

Just Folic Acid for me, I was taking a multi for a the first few weeks as I had started taking them about 2 months before but I have run out and haven't bothered getting any more, they make me feel sick and I have a pretty good diet so I don't think I really need them.
