Obstetrician in SE Brisbane (Redlands or closer to Ormeau) or to deliver at Pindarra

Hi,

We've only just found out we are pregnant, and we went Public last time, but want to go Private, now that Health Insurance is up to date.

Can anyone help with an OB that delivers at Redlands or Pindarra that you would recommend, our Doctor recommended Benjamin Bopp at Pindarra??

And does anyone know the out of pocket costs at these hospitals?

I delivered at Pindara last year.

My Ob was Penelope Isherwood she is fantastic and her rooms are right accross the road from the hospital too, quite handy.

Out of pocket varies with different funds and levels of cover.

All up for everything I think we were out of pocket about 3k, but that included a anathesiest & paediatrician as I ended up having a c-section.

I was very happy the costs and Penny is fantastic.

Pindara is great too and the nurses are fantastic there, also your DH can stay with you the whole time and bub is in the room with you too.:thumbsup:

I delievered at Pindara Private. I went to Dr Timothy O'Dowd - and he was great.... I ended up having a difficult birth - and he was so supportive. I appreciated his manner and he was very thorough.

I think it is only Dr "Trusty" Truscott and Dr Mastry at Redlands Mater Private.......Dr Ganter used to deliver there but I think he has moved over to Wesley.

I have been seeing Penelope Isherwood for my pregnancy too, and find her fantastic. SHe is always happy and relaxed - and so are all the ladies behind reception.. all of my appts have been a really positive experience. Apparently she only delivers at Pindara. :thumbsup:

Dr Michael Flynn, Dr Benjamin Bopp, Dr Andrew Carey, Dr Garry Swift and Dr Miriam Lee are based out of Pindarra Place on the Pindarra Hospital Grounds.
Ph 5564 8011. Dr Tim O'Dowd is in the same building but has a different ph number.
You mentioned Ben Bopp specifically in your post, I dealt with him while in hospital after my C-section, he was lovely. Dr Michael Flynn was my Dr for both pregnancies and I recommend him highly.

ETA Ring the Doctors Rooms and ask them to explain to you (or fax/send) their specific costs and out of pocket expenses for your specific health fund. The receptionist should (time permitting) be able to explain over the phone.

I found out yesterday that I'm expecting & we'll be at Ormeau when baby is due too.
After doing a bit of calling around :hair: I think I'll be going to Pindara with either Dr Andrew Cary or Dr Michael Flynn.

We're at Ormeau and see Dr Bopp. He's really very friendly and best of all he's delivering our baby in the morning :smiliedance:


It's 20-25 minutes to the hospital from here. 30 in peak hour in case you were wondering LOL we have timed it every which way.
