I want to lose 15kg in the next 3 mnths! My question is how can I do it so my supply doesnt dwindle. I want to feed my DS until he is 2, I don't want my body to stop that. I have 3 mnths and would love ideas on how other mums did it!

13 kgs sounds like alot to lose in such a short time! I'm not sure if you could do that without affecting your supply. I lost my weight when I stopped eating chocolate and biscuits aaaalll the time and made myself eat more healthily and get some exercise, and it took until bubs was about 8 months old to be back to normal. I don't know if that's much help sorry. I think it depends alot on your metabolism - some ppl can't keep the weight on when bf, and others can't lose it:rolleyes:

Yup, I agree, some people lose weight really fast while bf but others dont seem to lose any until they stop

The best thing to do is not to restrict the amount of food that you eat but change to all healthy choices. Do you do much exercsie? You will find that you lose weight alot quicker you can be really consistent with some kind of exercise routine - weights and cardio:)

so.....
1) Eat healthier food
2) Move more
3) Drink HEAPS of water - then your supply wont suffer

ALso, I think 15kgs is an awful lot to lose! Maybe try setting yourself shorter term goals like, losing 4kg this month - set mini goals along the way and reassess as you go:)

Good luck!

My husband's grandmother always says that you put on the weight over nine months of pregnancy, and so you should allow nine months to take it off again... Mind you, I returned to my original size very quickly (DD is only three months) and I've put it all down to breastfeeding, because I'm not the worlds most diligent exerciser :o

Of course, everyone's body reacts in different ways, but many people find that breastfeeding helps them lose that 'baby fat' that they gained through pregnancy. Many people, myself included, also find that their appetite increases while they are breastfeeding. My mother-in-law says it is finally satisfying to cook a meal for me because I actually eat a decent amount now :D (She comes from a family of big eaters...)

So my main concern is that you don't ignore the fact that you are probably going to want to eat more while you are breastfeeding. But as others have said before me, if you concentrate on eating healthy foods instead of snacking or binging on junk food, then that will help.

I've also read that breastfeeding burns up something like 2000 calories a day - well, a lot anyway, even if that's not the exact figure - and I'm a bit annoyed that Woman's Day completely left this out of Bec Hewitt's "Post Baby Diet"

Good luck with the weight loss, but try to make being healthy the focus, then hopefully the weight loss will follow.
