General Anaesthetic

At the end of next mth I'm going under a general and was wondering if I will still be able to feed bubs or will I have to express some for her? and if I do need to express how long after the general can I breastfeed again?

I had a GA when dd was 6 months old and i was advised to express a few feeds just encase they had to give me anything meds wise that could affect my breastmilk. Also i found after the GA i was really not with it so it come in handy to have that on hand for her as well. Chat to your GP see what they say but if it was me i would express just for your own peace of mind and so you know if your not feeling well or you need to take some heavy meds etc bubs you have something as back up :)

Oh maybe i should mention non of the drugs they gave me would have affected bubs so i would have been fine to feed her if i felt up to it :)
