I scored free swimming lessons for my DS at my gym, and it is nearing the end (only 3 weeks left), so I am at the dilema whether to keep them going or not...
He is only just starting to get into it, and go under water etc, but not at advancement level yet.....
Swimming lessons for
10 weeks 1 lesson per week = $110 or
10 weeks 2 lessons per week = $180...
It is so expensive and is paid upfront as soon as they are booked, but he loves it and it will be good for him to keep them up, so I was wondering how much you pay/payed for your childs lessons, and also
Do you think I should do it 2 lessons per week, to as its only an extra $70 for double the amount of lessons....
Any opinions please

It is up to you but that works out pretty economically at $11 a lesson. I think 2 lessons a week may be a bit much
My DD loves her swimming lesson once a week.....she goes nuts as soon as we pull into the carpark.
The weather is warming up too so it will be warm before you know it and he can practise in pools of anyone else you know? Just a thought?

Thanks chub chub..
Yeah I know it works out quite cheap per lesson, its more so the upfront cost of having to fork out that much money, can take it out of savings but its still a bit of a sting!
We dont know anyone else with a pool, but can use my gym's pool for free, the only prob with that is the heated one is always closed for lessons and its not warm enough for the outside pool... Or when it is warm enough its the middle of the day inwhich I refuse to let DS outside, even with sunscreen, as he has extremely sensitive skin (a bit albino as told by a doctor the other day)...

I can't remember exactly, but our fees are similar to yours. Or you can pay $14 per lesson. If we buy a '10 lesson card', we actually have 12 weeks to use the card up, so if he is away a lesson or two, we don't have to pay for the missed lesson - might be something worth checking, especially if you go for the two lessons a week.
I think if you can afford it, definitely keep them up, and the two lessons a week would be great, assuming you do not have heaps of other weekly activities.

I actually only pay $8.20 a lesson. DD loves it.... For the babies class, where i take DD, you pay on the day, cos babies get sick etc. I would suggest, looking around for the cheapest lessons in the area... I have a swim school in walking distance, which is like 6 dollars more expensive than where i take her. So, i take her ten mins away, where it is heaps cheaper. And dd has so much fun, i swear if she could, she'd live in the water.

I agree that finding the whole upfront fee is a pain. We put the equivalent away each week for the next payment block....it doesn't hurt the wallet as much.
I didn't figure about the middle of the day sun factor, sorry! The pool we use (my mum and dads) has a huge swivel umbrella over it so I don't have to think about it....sorry again:o

No need to be sorry......I personally think they should have more access to the public for the indoor pool especially for the kids to use, where I go.....
I think I will bite the bullet and sign him up again....And might stick with where he is cos he knows the instructor now and feels safe with her, so it might set him back if I change....
Dunno...life is full of such hard desicions when it comes to kids....

We pay around $140 a block. There are 5 blocks a year, so I think it's 9 or 10 lessons per block. There is a huge discount though if you pay the full year in advance ($440 as opposed to $600). Make up lessons are available for classes missed due to sickness.
At the beginning we found it useful to take DD to the pool in between her swim lessons. It helped her get comfortable much faster. If there is no public heated pool available it might be worth paying the 2 lessons a week.
