Hi ladies :) just got back from my check up now my docs concerned about my blood pressure being a little too high for his liking i know its not overly high, well to me its not but he seems to be concerned. Usually i read 120/80 but its reading 137/88.
I was also weighed today for the first time ever since i fell pregnant and i have only put on 7kgs he seems to think that thats not enough but bubs is growing heaps. Anyhow his pretty much told me if i get any headaches or swell up to go to hospital or see him if its during surgery hours and told me he wants my bp checked every 4 days to besafe. THe stupid part is apart from this flu i feel fine, in general i dont feel stressed, well apart from the usual normal every day stresses but nothng major if that makes sense!
Apparently if i was 36 weeks he said i would be induced as they prefer to get you in there just encase the worst happens.
Anyone else had this, did yours go down? Do you think the lack of weight gain and bp can be related? I know my Cholestasis causes this well the low birth weight in bubs. He was very vague today thats all so any views would be great :)

I had high blood pressure with my DS. I too had little weight gain...not sure if that related though as had low weight gain second time around (but also got gallstones second time around so had to watch diet). First time around only put on 9kg from start.
He will be concerned about pregnancy induced hypertension (pre-eclampsia). Because of the high blood pressure I was hospitalised at 39weeks +4 days and then induced 2days later.
I too felt generally fine throughout the pregnancy (aside from the morning sickness). I cant remember exactly but I think my Bp was bordering high from about half way through the pregnancy and got a little higher towards the end which is why they got worried. I think they were concerned about the placenta not working properly anymore.
Sorry...not much help...hope your bp goes down:hugs:

Thanks Jasesmum good to know that feeling normal is normal i thought i would feel off etc and it would be obvious something wasnt right.
Maybe i need to slow down but i feel great which is really ironic
I dont have any advice re the b/p BUT with my last two pregnancies i lost 10 kilos while i was pregnant.
My babies were healthy weights and fine- i just could not stop vomiting from day of implantation (i guess) and labor day.
The weight is probably the lesser issue, your Dr is probably more concerned re the b/p.
So that wasnt very helpful at all now was it... gee im on a roll tonight- sorry:rolleyes::o

Thanks roopee at least i know not putting on weight doesnt affect bubs, i dont know if i have actually lost any as this is the first time they have weighed me bubs is growing though i guess if bubs had stopped then i would worry more :)
Doc said its obviously the pregnancy thats causing the bp as i dont have anything stressfull going on in my life at the moment so at least his monitoring it

i've been told that it is after your bp readings raise by 20 consistantly, not sure about the minimal weight gain tho. i wish i had that prob i have gained 20 kg already:eek: . the drs have asked me to come in for daily bp readings as my bp has gone from 105/55 to 139/79 (has been my lowest reading).
have u protien in ur urine?

Does protein in urine mean anything apparently my urine was out too but he was more worried about the bp today its reading the same as yesterday though again :) i gained about 15kgs with my other kids so to only put on this much is crazy for me...i dont mind putting on weight as i am pregnant LOL and itsoon drops off i just hope that bubs isnt going to suffer from it

yeah protein in urine is a pretty big deal...it's a sign of pre-eclampsia.

hypothetically if it come to that can you take meds to lower your bp when pregnant? I still dont feel its that high but he seems to think it is guess he wouldnt be watching things so closely if he didnt but i just wonder if now when i get a point where its safe to deliver if he will induce me
If your pre eclampsia is bad he will do a c/s straight away. Soem thing about stress on the baby and mum.
If the protein reading is high enough if that makes sense. If you do have protein in your urine and high b/p PB- get organised hun.
My g/f had both her babies 7 weeks early due to p/e. BOTH babies are absolutely fine and perfect.
I think (not too sure though) that if you develop p/e in early pregnancy then there are meds you can take to reduce it but not sure on what happens after the you reach late pregnancy.
Good lUck- make sure you keep us posted:hugs:

Yeah I think I had protein in urine the day they hospitalised me.
if ur eating healthy or normal anyways(i.e. not starving urself) I don't think that the weight gain or lack there of will affect the baby. With my second bub I started gaining weight like normal...I guess about 6 kg and then at 31 weeks got diagnosed with gallstones...had to have low/no fat diet and ended up losing a few kilos. I think i was about 65kg at end and only started pg at 61kg. Midwifes all thought I'd be having a small bub by look of me...she was 8lb and appears to be a healthy girl so far!

I was hospitalised several times with PIH, but never had any protein/ ketones until the day I was eventually induced. 40+6. My weight stayed steady for my entire pregnancy. I weighed myself a week after bubs was born I'd lost 15kg.

When i was pregnant with dd i was very sick.
I had lost 13kgs from being so sick all the time and only ended up putting 10kgs back on so only really put on 3kgs.Before i was pregnant i was 75kgs and then when i had bub i was 65kgs so a big difference.
I had PE too,i developed it at about 33 weeks and had protein in my urine too.I was hospitalized to stabilize it and was sent home a few days later and then monitored for the rest of my pregnancy.I was induced at 39 weeks cause bub was apparently getting too big(diabetes) and also i was so puffy all over my body it wasn't funny.
With ds i didn't lose any weight and put on 10kgs.I did have 1 high bp reading though, and also had protein in my urine. But the midwife came out every few days to monitor me to make sure the PE didn't come. And i was ok.
I had pretty healthy bubs too, both were nearly 8lbs.
Hope everything is ok for you :hugs:
