I really dont like asking this on a public forum, but I figured id get more answers here as people may have been though something similar.

Iam BFing & had mastitis I took antibiotics to clear it up, now I have thrush :o ...Ive had it now for 2plus weeks & Iam sick of it.The chemist said I can not take the oral tablet whilst BFing I have to use the 'other one'.

I do not like the idea of anything going anywhere near there so soon.Iam terrifyed of the whole concept of it I feel so fustrated I had a cry about it, it seems so scary.I know how uneducated this is going to sound, but would my cervix be closed yet?? I dont know what to do Iam so so scared...Has anyone had any similar experiences?

You poor thing there is nothing worse...can you just use the creme and not use the applicator just use your fingers? sorry for being so direct but no easier way to say it :) Otherwise yoghurt is good as well it will ease things for you

I got thrush really bad after ds and i just ended up putting it down there myself a few times a day it wasnt as quick working but it did help alot!

Make sure you eat a lot of yoghurt (great with the good bacteria in it!) and if possible try and get a hold of Inner Health Plus - capsules with good bacteria in it that you can take orally. (I think they're bf-friendly)! I totally understand what you mean about it being scary having things go there.. don't worry, I felt the same for quite a while after Scarlett's birth. Just do what you feel comfortable, don't be pushed around. Oh, and make sure you wear 100% Cotton undies (nice and breathable) and keep your bottom half of clothes not too tight fitting, so that it doesn't get all sweaty and encourage growth (sorry if tmi).

Iam scared of the applicator I have been using the just cream on the outside but Ive almost run out.I agree, yoghurt does sound a bit gross But if it helps I will get some first thing in the morning.Would my cervix & everything still be healing from the birth? how long does it take to heal internally? Ive heard you should wait until 6wks after the birth to have sex so does it take about that long?

Not sure how long your cervix takes but i know that mine was fully closed at 4 weeks (only as i had a miscarriage and they did an internal to see what was going on)

Just keep wiping on the outside do what you can it will work it will just take longer try and not eat too much yeasty foods as well for a few days or even drink those yakuts if you think you can stomach them (i cant they are ewww)

Yoghurt tends to give more relief i think as its cold it does work though and seems to be easier to put on as well :)

I have heard vinegar helps old wives tale though from my gran she used to swear by having a bath with a tiny amount of vinegar

:hugs: Thrush is the pits huh?

The creams work well, also like the other said natural yoghurt is very soothing.
Inner health plus will also help. If you have to take anti-biotics for any reason later, take Inner health it will help prevent thrush next time

Good luck:hugs:

I'm pretty sure your cervix closes, generally, within a week after birth.

I think you'd be safe taking the pessary.

I did it, and thought it'd be awful, but by god did it make things better! Expect lots of discharge as the pessary leaves your body, but once it's done it's job you'll feel SO MUCH BETTER.

I found the cream quite useless... because while it eased the symptoms temporarily, it didn't do much otherwise.

Lots of good tips here so far. Can't you get into your (or any) GP to ask their honest advice? And while you are at it, also try to avoid eating too much sugar in your diet while recovering - sugar promotes yeast growth. Hope you feel better soon.

I've just done some quick research, and if you after birth bleeding (lochia) has stopped, then all indications are that your cervix has closed.

Head to the supermarket and buy yourself some good quality yoghurt with all the active cultures to EAT - it will help restore the balance. Not to mention, it's cheaper than Inner Health Plus.

Since the thrush has been there for a long time too, even with you using the thrush cream, you really need to see your GP.

I use Bio Organics, Megadophillus. Exactly the same ingredients and quantities of, as Inner Health but only about $18 for 60 tabs. Although eating yoghurt is good if you have severe thrush it's hard to get enough from yoghurt alone.
You can make a douche with warm water and about 10 drops of pure tea tree or swab with it and that helps as is a powerful natural bug killer. It may sorta burn or feel warm initially but this is the tea tree working. You can rinse off if too uncomfortable.

I used Tea Tree oil diluted... get cotton wool stand over the bath and wipe front to back. Once you have done this discard that wad and use a new lot. Do this until you have used all the solution. and i did it once in the morning and then again in the evening.. It worked a dream for me :) hope it helps..

PS It will sting but its worth it
