I must admit that there are some MCN's that are to die for but I'm far too lazy!

Take it off and straight in the bin... Easy and lazy! :D

QTB
24-08-2007, 06:40 PM
haha i just use them just like sposies, but throw them in the wash instead of the bin :)

(braydens poos just fall off into the toilet so thats easy, his morning poo just gets tipped in there then in the wash, easy peasy :D)

Im not sure what you call them where you live but in qld we have Pilchers(plastics),(covers)(pvc things) plus these days when im home i let him have nappy free time and let him use the potty, im trying to work out the cue, i think at the moment he pulls like a concentrating face. seams to work most of the time believe it or not. i only started when he could sit up. not b4. ive read somewhere people start from birth.

sorry im back.. Seth is 10.5months old. and 77cm tall and what looks like 2 tiny SHARP teeth coming through oh my. what does one use for pain relief if your too afraid to use bonjella now??? we have a natural remady in a jar from the chemist.. but havent relied on it yet as we have been using bonjella but its getting ouchies now He can bite.

Sometimes we do use them as "spew" rags but mostly nappies.:smiliedance:

Noah has 7 teeth and the only ones that really caused him pain were his top two eye teeth and I gave him Bonjela and Panadol.

SethandRuby'sMum
24-08-2007, 07:57 PM
do they stay real sharp though. and how do u get him not to bite down on your finger?? we only give bonjella if he is in pain and panadol if that doesnt settle him but wait an hour as i dont like giving him both too soon together.

I think I want to use cloth nappies, but there are so many different types that I am already confused!!!!

How did you know which ones to use (I only just found out that they're not all just the flat towel sort of ones!!!)???

We will be using cloth here. DP wants to use sposies for the first few weeks but I'm not keen!

We have some more BBB and Bummis wraps coming this week...and a Bubblebubs AIO. So excited!

Leishie, modern cloth is basically in 3 catergories:

AIO's (all-in-ones), pockets, and fitteds.

All In ones are as simple as placing ob babys bum and changing, but can take a while to dry.

Pocket nappies have a soft liner and waterproof outer, and you add boosters to make them absorbent.

Fitteds are made from an all absorbent material, usually bamboo or hemp, and needs a cover to make it waterproof.

For a newborn I'll be using flat nappies folded with either a PUL cover (they are breathable, unlike traditional PVC covers) or a wool cover and fitteds because of the constant changes. For my older son, I like to use AIO's and pockets for ease of use.

im using cloth nappies, i went to a mates houw yesterday to look at all her nappies, she has 1000's of the things :eek:
its so confusing and i really dont understand why some need cover, some dont, some need extra boosters, ill have to go back and and her to explain it to me again:rolleyes:

I have been using cloth on DS for about 6 months or so but I am thinking I will put new bubba in sposies for the first few months, It's already a load of washing a day between me, DH and DS and all his nappies, I remember when he was a newborn just getting 5 mins for a shower was often impossible so with a newborn and a toddler I am not going to kill myself by having a whole heap of extra loads to do, the actual washing is easy, its the hanging out and bringing in that's a hassle! Plus newborn poos are a whole different story, can't see them just sliding off like DS poos do now!
I use a mixture of terry flats and MCNs, I actually find the flats last the longest before leaking, maybe it's the fold I use?? I use Bummis covers over the flats.
I may change my mind between now and then as I am a pregnant woman so I do this regularly!
