hey girls, just a quick hi.
It will be awesome when everyone has popped and we move over here, so exciting.
I bought an ergo yesterday too and i love it, its awesome
Lucas didnt like having a bath, but we had a shower with him yesterday and he was so calm and he loved it, so i think we will be sticking with that until he is bigger.
Well better go, chat again soon girls.

Oh good a few more of us moving over to this thread...
Calm- Maddy doesn't like baths either, she hates being naked. I might try doing the shower thing but I'm so scared of her slipping as I find her really hard to hold when shes naked...she weighs less than 7lbs at the moment so she feels really tiny.
Jeclipse- I'm sure your little man will do this a few more times along with puking & piddling.
Toffee & Calm- Whats an ergo?

how do u bath a baby in the shower??
never heard of that before

i just got into the shower and then DH passed me Lucas and i held him against me. I just made sure that the water was slightly cooler than i would normally have it and that the water didn't get into his face. He didn't cry at all like in the bath.
An ergo is a baby carrier, kinda like a sling. Google ergo and you will see, i wont post a link just in case i get in trouble.
Hope everyone is well

Well we have had a very poorly DD(aged 22 months) she was being sick last night from 11 pm we decided to take her to the childrens hospital at 3am so off we went our little family all bundled up it was freezing & all of us were exhaused ,but both DH & i were quite worried about our little munchkin ,turns out she has a viral infection :( ,she is still sick as a dog today, it is pretty full on looking after our new little man & being there for our little girl , thank heavens DH is home .
She has been dozing on the couch all day but wont let us leave her side ( so unlike her) the hospital told us to take her to our GP tomorrow , so that is what we will do .
Hope your all doing well ,chat soon.

Hey guys, just found this thread...I knew it was here but forgot where! Duh!!!
How is everyone? I am amazed how great I feel this time round...last time I didn't leave the house until DD was about 5 weeks old, this time I went to the shops the first day I was home and have been going out, having visitors and all!!!
This boy is sooo good, I'm getting clucky to have more already and keep teasing DH, but we are def sticking to the 2 bubs....but he's just so beautiful, *sigh*

Hi Lades,
I am usually just a lurker but thought I would join your group if you will have me.
I had my son 10 days late on the 3rd September. As a first time mum I thought this thread might come in very helpful. I dont have very many friends with babies and my mum lives in Sydney (I am on the Gold Coast) so I figure I will need the extra support and reassurance.
I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Hi Star81...pre warning though about joining this thread...if it's like the Tell Us All, we chatter alot!!! hahaha
Welcome.....

Hi just a quick one from me. The ECHN came and weighed Lucas yesterday and he weighed 3810g. Which is all good.
Birth weight 3780g, then day 5 - 3440g and day 12 3810g.
He is still not sleeping that well, although last night was a better night. Today he was awake nearly all day though, i did manage to have a short nap, which really helped.

I know what you mean about the sleep thing, Maddy hasn't been sleeping well during the day either and at night she won't sleep in her cot so I have been sleeping with her on the couch with her on my chest. Not very restful for me & not good for DH & I's relationship...last night was better though as I mentioned in the Due in Sept thread.
Got to run Maddy is waking up and I need to get dressed!
Michelle
So we're not as chatty in here...yet!
All busy beings Mums I guess.
My latest, taking DD tomorrow to get her 18mth needle, a bit late but I kept forgetting and luckily she can still get it done so thats my day tomorrow.
Am gonna get the CHN to check out DS' belly button too. I started a thread asking about it cos it started looking a bit gunky and got smelly. The other day it was a bit red and my midwife said to put a dab of breastmilk on it, so been doing that. It's not red anymore bit very smelly. I asked midwife today cos was thinking of taking him to the Dr but didn't really want to go if unnecessary and she said it can get smelly as long as its not red and inflamed it is ok. It should fall off soon, I couldn't remember how long it took DD's to fall off...apparently anywhere up to about 2 weeks???
Hows everyone elses bubs belly button thingys...???
He is being a really good baby, he waked every 3hrs pretty much although today has slept a bit longer so I'm hoping tonight I get a bit bigger sleeps in between, the greatest thing is that he wakes, feeds and pretty much goes back to sleep. DD used to take about 1-2hrs to put back to sleep so if she woke in the night I'd be up about 4 hrs, change her then about 1hr spent feeding and then the rest trying to get her back to sleep...nightmare...luckily she slept through from about 6pm till 4am from about 3 weeks old but not much sleep in the day.
So this boy wakes at night but goes back to sleep so it's working pretty good for me. Not as tired as I'd of expected to be.
I've got very sore nipples too! Sorry if TMI.
They have splits in them and I started to use shields but have found bub tends to bite on them a bit which hurts even more than if I just feed him, and he is attaching a bit better so it only hurts putting him on and once hes sucking it is ok.
I am really pushing myself to perservere (sp?) with it cos last time I gave up quite quickly and I want to feed longer this time if I can so hopefully they heal up soon and don't hurt me too much more...*fingers crossed*
Anyway, enough rambling from me...better get off to bed and try get a decent amount of sleep before next feed.

Mish- Oh the joys of BF! I don't know if you are a member of ABA but they have a book called "Breastfeeding Naturally" it's great. It has really helped me. Some of the things they mention about nipple care...
At the end of the feed express a little milk on to the nipple & let air dry & try to go without a bra sometimes.
Don't use any soap
Start a feed on the side that less sore or massage your breast first to start the milk flowing before putting bub to breast.
They do go on to say that most nipple problems are due to attachment problems so if you are continueing to have problems try & get some help, I did and things have gotten so much better!
Hope some of that helps!
Michelle
Thanks Giggleberry!
I have been told all that aswell and talked to consultants last time etc with DD and know what I'm meant to do...it's just a matter of getting bub to do what he's meant to, little bugger!
He just doesn't seem to go on right. I have to keep putting him on and off until it feels comfy. Like I said it's getting better. Have been using Lansinoh which is really good. I think they just need to heal now and we should be right.
I actually fed him this morning laying down in bed on my side. I was so tired I wanted to sleep, so I layed him down next to me and put him on and it was alot better too....and I got to half sleep while feeding so it was a double plus!
How do you find Maddison in the shower? She looks sooo cute but I don't think my bub would like it. He loves the bath....just lays there all relaxed and kicks his legs around, wants to go on his tum in the bath but I did it once with DD and she kicked off the end and face planted in the water and was spluttering so am too scared to do it again.
I'm too scared I'll drop them in the shower, so slippery.....
How is everyone else, if you're out there?
Anyone seen or heard from jadegreen and the others that used to chat with us in Tell us All?
Just quickly popping in to say howdy.
All going pretty well here. Feeding going well. Much more comfortable now as my milk engorgement is settling (as long as I let the side he's not feeding from flow at the same time he's on the other, but hey, I can handle that if it means my boobs don't constantly feel as the they're about to explode). Still engorged vein wise (my boobs look like thy're covered in weird blue spiderwebs ) but this also seems to be improving, albiet a bit slower.
The other upside is that I can let DS2 sleep longer now. Don't have to wake him for 3 - 3 1/2 hrs now and he's happy to go longer so works well for me as means I get in more sleep.
Very lucky as he's like DS1 and mostly eats and sleeps (and poops! another poop machine  ) so definatley makes things easier.
DS1 adjusting pretty well too. Calls him 'brudda' and is very gentle. Loves having cuddles and kisses. Also likes to give him hi 5's  (very cute though).
Okey dokey. Off to have lunch and a nap before going out to the CHC and shops later. Have a good one and will try get onto this thread more often

hey ladies
Just a quick hi today, as its hard to get on here for long as at the mo, Lucas constantly wants to be fed, and its too hard to feed while at the computer, i can only b/f in the football hold as my boobies are too big  Lucas put on another 280g this week, so its all good.
I am feeling pretty good, we are walking every day with Lucas and the dogs, and go out shopping most days. I do get very tired some days, as Lucas has had some nights, where he just doesnt want to sleep, but last night was all good.
I have lost 1.5kg so far this week, putting me under 100kg for the first time in years, so happy :smiliedance:
Hope you are all doing well, and our last 3 ladies waiting will be joining us soon.
Better go and pee while i have the chance lol.
Chat again soon ladies.
hey everyone,
Seems everyone is doing pretty well which is good to hear.
I have had a bout of mastitis (didnt last long tho) and sore nipples but its much better now and we seem to be getting a bit of a routine going with feeding and sleeping. He soesnt sleep much durring the day but does a 6 hour stint at night. He is putting on tones of weight so the CHN is very happy.
Calm well doen on the weight loss.
Mishlc I love feeding while laying down and do it every morning so I can try and catch some extra zzzz's.
Hi all.
All went well at CHC yesterday. DS1 is doing well growth wise, CH nurse says he's doing really well developmentally too. Apparantly really good language and cognitive/problem solving skills which is nice to know.
DS2 also doing super. Put on about 200g in 5 days and all looking good (again, nice to hear  )
Not much else happening here :o. (well nothing hugely exciting anyway lol). Just hanging out and playing with my little guys today :D
camcat, I think I said stuff in the other thread, but thats great about your DS'
star81,my DD hardly slep in the day either but she slept really great at night...from about 4wks old she slept from6pm - 4am at the least, sometimes longer...it was great! My boobs would hurt in the morning but at least I'd slept.
calm, my nipples really hurt too....hope they get better soon.
I haven't got scales so haven't weighed myself yet, must get onto it so I can start doing posts in our weight loss thread....
That is fantastic, sounds like you're doing really well. I have sort of been walking everyday...just that we've gone to the shops everyday pretty much so walked around a fair bit there...am endeavouring to do more excercise type walking......

yep Mish, we are walking the dogs everyday and taking Lucas in the pram, its been good, i dont feel like i have had a major operation at all. The worse day pain wise was day 4, but since then ive felt fine
Yeah calm, I was dreading the pain etc but this time round have felt great! The drugs the hospy gave me to come home with was a big help but even since they ran out, I have felt great!...except the (.) (.)'s
Hi guys.
Hope you're all doing well.
All good here.
Boobs seem to be starting to settle down a bit and DS2 starting to attempt to drink both boobs each feed and stretching the feeds to 3 hrs day and more at night (depending on how quickly I fill up) so not too full all the time now thankfully. DH is wrapt though as they're still enormous
DS1 still going well with DS2 as well which is great. Didn't think he'd be too bad but was a bit worried in case he felt left out or something but seems to be ok so far.
Feeling great and everything seems to be going swimmingly so really pleased.
Not much else interesting to add so chat more later
Went for a walk to the shops today and DD was walking with me pushing her stroller...half way down the road she wanted me to carry her, so I folded up her stroller and got her to sit on the front of the pram. Got to the lights a bit further on and cos we stopped she wanted me to carry her again, so I carried her across the road then she had a tanty cos she wanted me to keep carrying her and I said No. Managed to get her to walk next to me holding hands then got over the hill and she threw herself on the ground and had a whammy. Had tp phone DH to come get her cos I was stuck there. She was just laying on the footpath screaming cos I wouldn't carry her!
Lesson learned: 1. Don't try walk to shops without DH with DD walking, and/or always put DD in toddler seat when walking to shops!
It was so awkward standing there with DS in the pram and DD on the footpath crying...everyone driving past must have had some interesting opinions...
yay!!Im so happy to see you guys all over here, good to see things re going well with those of you on here.Well things are good for us here in little old new zealand addison is now a month old and growing like a real trooper she is happy breastfeeding but seems to be feeding all the time and that is generally when dd1 decides to muck up and do something shes probably not meant too.which I cant really blame her for as generally it something that she thiks is helping me .Like tonight I was feeding addison and she decided to feed the cat well we had biscuits from breakfast to china my goodness.she is learning to adjust well and Im learning to let go of the small things .Im going with the motto choose your battles with dd1.
anyone else who is bf are you feeling ravenous all the time or is that me.Im below pre preggy weight and have been eating like a horse.oh tip I thought of that helped me in the shower with the kids is to hold a wet face washer around there middle and gives you something to grip onto while you are holding them makes it less slippery.hmmmm oh and anyone know what is the go with cluster feeding anyone else sbubba doing this mine is at night time driving me abit insane????

Hi September mummies,
Hope nobody minds me joining this thread.
I was supposed to be an October mummy but my little guy couldnt wait. He was born at 36 weeks (after my hind waters started leaking at 35 weeks).
Reuben James was 5 pounds born. He is our 2nd (and last) baby.
Hi moneyfelix....awesome, you can def join us! Congratulations!!!
nmummy, is cluster feeding where they feed every hr or less? My DS is doing a bit of that...I think you can't poss be hungry! But he only feeds for like 10-20mins at a time and falls asleep..little monkey!
Must go, DD is playing up!
xxx Mish
hi ya mish and all!!
yeah cluster feeding is exactly that though dd2 has decided to change what shes doing now and is sleeping.hard to resist that little face tgough when you feel like you've fed them a million times.where is everyone!
Hi everyone
wondering if you minded if i joined this group too? I have a 32mth son, and daughter born on 5th sept. Have moved cities, and so no longer have mums group to help feel the way through parenting, and sometimes i forget what i did first time around...... pathetic i know!!! lol.
hope to get to know you all.........:smiliedance:
Howdy ladies.
Hope all are well.
Pretty good here. Had a few busy days but will be resting a bit for few days now. Thankfully not much planned or needs doing anyway but been advised to have rest as bleeding gone red rather than the pinky brown colour (sorry if TMI) which is a sign I've been overdoing it a bit apparantly. Don't feel as though I have been and rather hard to rest with a newborn and an 18 m/o but have to now so it doesn't become a problem. Told DH that means he's my slave for the next couple of days
DS1 and DH have been snuffly and now poor DS2 is all blocked up as well . No other symptoms or problems but poor little guy sounds terrible. Been using the fess little noses and sucking the boogs out but they just keep coming back the poor little guy. He's been pretty happy still though and still sleeping and feeding well so could definately be worse.
Alrighty, off to organise some dinner so chat more later.
(sorry no personals but when I get on these days always seem to be in a bit of a rush for some reason. wonder why that is  )
dont go overdoing it cam cat!!!my dd2 has just had a cold and a good thing to try is putting babyvicks on yor breast if your breastfeeding as can help clear the nose I use the fess stuff too its great!!!my dd2trying so hard to sleep but fighting it arrrrrrrgh just when I need to get something done!!!
Thats an awesome idea with the vicks!
I have a bit of a blocked duct atm and have been having fever shills and a really bad headache...I was crying yesterday my head hurt so bad!
Went to Dr this morn and she said the good old cabbage leaves and going back tomorrow to check it isn't any worse....
Having some photos done tomorrow, professional ones of DS and all the fam....sooo exciting
hope your blocked duct gets better mish cant be nice having so much on your plate with the two kids and feeling crappy.very exciting about your family pics make sure you post some for us!
Hi everyone,
Mishlc I hope your blocked duct clears up quickly, I have not long gotten over a bout of mastitis. Its awful isn't it.
My DS seems to be cluster feeding too. I asked the nurse abou tit today as I thought maybe it was due to the heat and she said that is highly likely. I also think the heat is making him sleepy as he is sleeping more durring the day. I dont mind too much as he only feeds for 5-10 min but it is a pain getting the bra off etc all day long.
I hope your all well.

Catherine
Thanks nmummy. Trying not to but so hard when so many things to be done. Resting has helped a bit today but as soon as I get up to do anything (only little things today too) Goes back to red again. Frustruating thing is I'm leaving all the non essential things and just doing stuff that can't be left (eg, making dinner, stuff for DS's etc) and still having issues. Hoping it sorts itself out soon :fingerscrossed:.
Spoke to DH's mum who's a nurse and she said I have to have pretty much complete bedrest tomorrow and she told DH he needs to do absolutely everything for me. He has helped out more today than normal but will still see things that need to be done and not do them unless I ask. When I've gotten up to do stuff about half the time he's said nothing and let me do it and the other half he's said "oh, I was going to do that" at which point sometimes he'll take over and others he'll still leave me to do it  :banghead: .
DH's mum told him he'd better do all tomorrow and if it's still red after a full days complete rest tomorrow to call my ob to get checked just to be safe. Will have to nip out once to take DS1 for his 18m/o needles as DH not to good with needles and DS will be unsettled with just DH and not me there but otherwise a completely lazy day. (have to say I'm looking forward to it as been getting more tired last couple days. Hoping bleeding settles quickly coz when thinking about it today had constant low level bleed for a week as of tomorrow so can't be too good for me overall :o)
mish - hope your pics go well :D. Will be getting some done soonish too (once I've rested up lol). Also take it easy with your blocked duct. Last time round I had massive issues with blocked duct becoming mastitis developing into an abcess which had to be surgically removed (mostly an issue coz my Dr was an idiot and didn't treat it properly :hair:). Uncommon for things to progress tp that level but always makes me cringe hwen hear blocked ducts etc so make sure you look after yourself
star81 - I can completely relate to the bra issues! I'm still having to take mine off at feeds and let opposite breast leak coz of an oversupply issue and definately a pain in the butt! Just keep reminding myself it's worth the effort for the comfort and as preventative measures against blocked ducts etc
Jeclipse - glad to hear all going so well with heath.
Hi to all others. Hope your all keeping well and your munchkins are too.
Jeclipse
04-10-2007, 16:08
Hey everyone.. just wanted to pop in and ask a question
Heath has been going really red in the face when he does poos and makes grunting noises like its hard for him
are any of ur bubba's having this problem?
and do u think I should get a GP to check him?
thanks in advance:)
jeclipse, My DD used to do that, but not really until she was on formula...she had and still has trouble pooing...have to give her diluted prune juice every so often. I think if he's breastfed though it shouldn't be hard for him to poo so maybe get him checked...even just phone your Health Nurse and ask them, save the $$$ on a Drs bill!
Hows everyone else? We had our pics done today and it went bette rthan I thought, DD really took to the people and they were very relaxed etc which was good as I was worried they'd be a bit uptight and want to rush us and with a newborn but they were excellent...he showed me some as we were going in the camera too and they are going to look great! I can't wait to see them! DS was quite the little poser too!
Did the cabbage leaves on the (.) (.)'s last night and my goodness it's stinky stuff! They feel better though and the redness is gone so not bothering to go back to the Dr as it costs like $50 a visit and I'm feeling better and the redness gone so figure I'll leave it for now. Hope I don't regret it!
camcat, With DD, cos a CS by the time I left hospy loss was going to the browner side and only had it for about a week or 2, then it went so stopped wearing pads, week 3 though I felt a bit wet and went to the loo and there was a huge loss and it was quite red...went to Dr totally freaked and he said it's OK it can happen??? Gave me some antibiotice just incase but said it can come and go....maybe get it checked if your worried but I think it can be a bit roller coastery iykwim....???
xxx Mish
Oh Yeah, camcat, where you getting your pics done?
mish - Took DS1 for his needles today so asked the GP while I was there. He says to keep taking it as easy as possible with 2 under 2, but not to stress too much about it unless it gets really heavy again or still there weeks later. Thought it wouldn't be too bad as not really heavy. Dr did say to try take it as easy as possible though so will try I guess.
Not sure where getting pics done yet. Was gonna call round a bit and see costs etc.
Jeclipse - it's quite common to have straining/red face when pooing even though it's not difficult for them. Only a concern if poo is solid lumps (eg pebbles), or heath not pooing for really long period of time (eg week plus). If your worried still though doesn't hurt to check with Dr or CH nurse for your peace of mind.
So much for my complete bedrest day today . DH has had tummy upset (He says gastro but I think food poisoning or similar) and been running to the toilet or sleeping all day. Has mostly looked after himself thankfully though so haven't had to look after 3 kids  although have had to keep myself and the munchkins away from him so he doesn't spread his disease round.
On the upside he seems to be improving this evening so hopefully will be all good tomorrow.
Hope all are keeping well :D
poor dh camcat!hope he gets better soon!
well busy day for me today as I have been at home all week and now I have list as long as a football field of things to get done.Feeling abit cross with dh he is generally really good but work has been keeping him away from home until late and i seem to be doing a balancing act at five pm running back and forth between two dd's and then he comes in at 7.30 to a nice cooked dinner no body wanting anything from him our kids in bed and he has peace.whats with that!!then he informs me this week that the annual canterbury sports award dinner is tonight and he has to go ,I guess he tried to make me feel better when he said "oh I dont really want to go"Im thinking yeah right my hubby is rugby mad so another night or running around like a blue a###sed fly.
better go as dd1 cant drive herself to preschool!!!love to all !!
:hugs: to you nmummmy. That sounds like me last week. Could have bashed DH over the head. Books time off work to help me adjust to having 2 then goes off to work with his mate for the whole of the 1st week 2 days after I'm home from hospi :banghead:. He's feeling a bit guilty now though as his mum told him that him working and leaving me by myself is probably the reason I've over done it and had bleeding so he's feeling kind of bad. He's back to his proper work tomorrow which kind of sucks. Even though he's not really a huge help it's still nice having him here so I can make him help if I need to
On the up side the bleeding does seem to be settling down again so will just keep taking it as easy as possible.
Out to tea tonight. Going to a winery that does really yummy food and wine matched dinners. 7 courses with matching wines (which I can't drink at the mo  ) but still really tasty food so don't mind too much, especially since I get tasty food with no effort or dishes to clean up :D
Fairly quiet weekend on the cards too since DH working. Probably just relax at home a lot (well, as much as the munchkins will let me relax anyway  )

Hi all
Just thought i'd jump in and say hi :)
I had my little boy William on the 17 of september.
I have two other boys jack 5 and nicholas 3 so i've really got my hands full lol
looking forward to chatting with you all
thanks for the hugs camcat!I feel better about it now good to have gripe though.I had to laugh as dh came in from the office and changed into his tuxedo and dd2 did a chuck :barf: on him!!I dont think she wanted him to go either.dd1 has gotten out of bed a million times we have started dayight savings here in nz and she looks at me like Im nuts when i put her to bed and its still light!!!anyhoo welcome to you kate look forward to chatting to you too!!
camcat, I highly recommend the guy we just used...and he honours deals from the flyer for one of the photographers from the Bounty bags. Theres a flyer for a company called Envy, and the photographer is the one we used for our wedding so we were going to book with him but he doesn't do sessions in Perth anymore as he's moved to Busselton, so he puts Perth clients through to his mate here in Perth who is also highly qualified and very good (and nicer which was a plus) and he honours his deals so for bubs under 10wks it's $60 sitting fee which includes a mounted (not framed) 5x7 pic ($110 value) or you can choose free sitting fee for bub 6mths.
We did the $60 fee with free pic and he did pics of all of DS, DS & DH, DS & DD, DS & Me, DS, DH & Me and all of us...so is pretty good!
btw, where is this place your talking about for dinner, sounds great! 7 Courses, my DH would love it...it's our Anniversary on the 9th, could be a good place to go for that...speaking of which I still haven't got that leather pressie! must get onto that!
jeclipse, I meant with DD it's like camcat said, her poos are hard as...if Heaths poos are normal consistensy, should be ok......:D
nmummy, sounds like your hands are full!
I can't stand daylight savings, am really not looking forward to it starting again here! my DD will do the same thing I'm sure!
Hi Kate, Welcome....and Congrats on your newest bub!

Hello ladies
So many September mummies! I had my little boy Marshall on 25 Sept. Just trying to settle into the swing of being a new mummy!
Hope to be able to join you all in a chat.
Hi all- had Lauren on 29/9/07 so just make this thread. Will have to sit down and add personals later.
Looking forward to seeing the growth and changes of all our little bubs and also of ourselves.
Just a quick question though- how much does your newborn sleep. I only woke up 2 times last night to feed her. Is this what everyone else is finding?? I find it too good to be true!!!
Hi wazza, my DS feeds about 8pm,ish and sleeps from about 9pm - 2am,ish then feeds and sleeps till about 6ish, feeds then sleeps in with me till about 9ish, so sort of twice!
My DD, from about 3wks slept from 6pm til about 4am, I was very lucky!
Am I having a really dumb moment or did excited change her name?
Excited, are you now Haydensmummy?
OMG, I am so silly!
Just a quickie befor eI forget.
mish - tea was at riverbank winery. It's in Caversham. They don't do the teas all the time though. I think normally they have 1 for each season. Definatley only do a few each year. The one we went to last night was the 'Spring Budburst' one. Last time we went to one was their 'Winter Warmer' one. They have a yummy lunch coming up for melbourne cup though. If you google them you can join a email list thing which sends regular newsletter things which always have dates for the dinners and stuff in them. They do breakfast and lunch all the time though:D. Also, the photography dude you used - what do his prints cost to buy? (I always end up buying tonnes because I can never decide between them so have to choose places that are fairly reasonable for the pics :o  )
camcat, I'm not sure what he charges for the prints? I imagine it will be a bit pricey tho! I think you can do payment type plans tho...will have to wait and see??? I know the other guy (our wedding one) he charges about $20 for a normal size photo and $40 for 8x10's. I bought 3 black and whites from our wedding which is like $120 and then bought a $20 frame with 3 section things in from Red dot and framed them which through him would have cost me $300+ but only cost me the $120 for the pics and $20 for the frame.
I think we'll just get the freebie one that comes with the deal and then buy a few really special ones, then just get some cheaper shots done later that we buy a few more of.
Also, even though it's not legal (i don't think) we scanned the wedding ones and put it on the computer then saved it and took it to the photo shop and got huge ones printed. The shop ones cost $20 each (huge ones!) and they would have cost over $100 through the photographer!
Anyway....I know I ramble!!! I totally understand the indecisive thing and the not spending too much thing....let me know who you decide! (even pixie photos can be pricey tho!)
btw, did you get your invite in the post?
...and, that Restaurant sounds good, will have to look it up! I've always wanted to do one of those River Cruise thingys out there....one day!
WOW Mishlc, what a sleeper you have there. the reason I was asking is because with DS he nev slept for longer than 1 hour at a time and I found it hard. Yet with DD, she seems to be a breeze in comparison but maybe it's becuase I am more relaxed second time around. Do you hear that often as many people say it to me DAILY!!!!
Not up to much today- just housie things. DH is mowing the lawn later so DS will be helping him and I maybe able to sneak in a NANA NAP!!! Hace to grocery shop though so God knows whenI will do that.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend!!!
Hey guys I thought that i would join you all over here now. Elijah is beautiful and im loving being a mummy its the best thing ever and DP is loving it also he is so helpful and so good with him.
Ej is doing well we spent 2 nights in hospital and had our first night at home last night.
Th only concern that I have at the moment is his feeding he just wants to sleep and only feeds for about 10 - 15 min every 3 or so hours.
He has lost 330gms since he was born which the midwife wasnt to concerned about.
I have heaps of milk and the midwife said to express a little before each feed to soften and dray out the nipple as they were that full that he kept falling off so I allready have about 240ml of expressed milk in the freezer.
Hopefully everything settles down soon and he starts to gain weight
Glad everyone is going well
Ill be back soon im off to start my birth story

Excited, are you now Haydensmummy?
OMG, I am so silly!
yes i used to be excited :p
woo hoo i finally found this thread, been lookin 4 ages!!!!!
hey all!!!!!
Hey haydensmummy...can I say HM cos I can't write all that each time, esp when I'm doing it 1 handed as I am now!
I've been wondering where you were and you've been on the whole time, just diff name...as with not finding it, maybe thats why the others aren't in here chatting???
amity, sounds normal. BF'ing is not the same for everyone and as long as you offer the boob when they seem like they want it and let them feed till they come off then it should be right. They do lose weight for the first bit then they start to gain it again, so it should all balance out for ya!
Hope everyonne else is well..going to bed now...bye!

hm is fine :)
we r off to the health nurse this morning.
will be interesting to see how much bubby weighs since he hasn't been weighed in 2 wks.
i tried to put him in infant nappies yesterday and ended up with poo leaking out everywhere, lol.
he is still so tiny, almost 4 1/2wks and still in 5 0 clothes!
Just wondering if anyone can help DP was downloadig all of the birth photos today and corrupted the memory card and they areall gone now. Im absoultly devastated and have been bawling all morning and he feels terrible we have called the maker of both the camera and the memory card and they have sent us retriving programs but nothing is working.
I really need to get those photos back
Thanks guys

Hi All:wave:
Well it's been awhile since I last posted...been abit busy. A good friend of mine got married yesterday so it was our first offical day out with Maddy. All went much better than I thought it would. I thought it would be a disaster and Maddy would cry all day but she did really well, didn't sleep much but she happily sat and watched what was going on around her.
Today we did our first grocery shop without DH, actually it was the first one I have done since having Maddy DH has been doing them bless his heart! I put her in the sling (first time) and she promptly fell asleep.
Oh and last week we went to the CH nurse and Maddy has finally gained some weight:smiliedance: 195g to be exact...so in all I'm a pretty proud Mummy at the moment.
I hope everyone is doing well and those of you that are having boobie problems are getting better. I will try and post more often & try to do personals the next time I'm on.
Michelle
amity, I can't help sorry...but big hugs, hopefully you can retrieve them...
michelle, Sounds like your going great, I've started taking DS in the sling at the shops now cos he just crys if he's in the pram. They're brilliant and he always goes to sleep too so it's alot easier.
Went to pick up my layby today as it's half for DD's birthday on Sunday and half Chrissie presents...and they didn't have it there. I had phoned but it isn't coming in till tomorrow afternoon. So I have to wait!
I ended up getting DH a leather keyring with a Johnnie Walker thingo on it (he's a Scoth guy) and a whole pile of lollies for our Anniversary tomorrow. Still deciding if we should go our for dinner or not.....
Hope everyone is having a good day,

Hi ladies, how are you all doing with your new bubbas? jack is doing really well my milk came in yeasterday and boobies are quite sore and hard still as jack is feeding between 2-3 hrs just like his sister did but maybe it will settle down when he gets the swing of things as he is only 3 days old:laughing:. have the midwife coming out tomorrow to do heal prick and check up on me and jack. we have a real busy week ahead. wednesday we are taking jack to be circumsised(please no judgement) we had our 1st appointment with the specialist today and she is lovely she done the proceedure on a good friend of ours and they were really happy with her . then thursday nothing as yet will try and book in for professional photo's and friday we have gp appointment for me jack and holly so busy busy.dd loves her new brother but has been a little bit more naughty lately but thats normal for the transition. hope all have a goos night and will pop on soon.
Ok so im not as emotional now we still havnt got the photos back but we are taking the card to a camera place tomorrow so they can look at it.
EJ is feeding so much better today which is great im much more relxed. DP goes back to work tomorrow just for 4 hours well he actually ended up going in for 4 hours today so ill see how we go.
The midwife is coming out to see us again tomorrow she came today and yesterday as well and they cant get enough blood out of his heel prick to fill the 3 circles they had to prick him 4 times yesterday and 2 today so it looks as though I will have to take him up the hospital and they will put a litle needle in his hand to do it apparently its alot less traumatic.
Well DP and Bubs is sleeping peacefully so while all is quiet I might go join them
Talk soon.

hey henry u have to go to little images at alderly. i went there last fri 4 haydens photos and the photographer is excellent, i was so happy!!!!! pm me if u want the details, they have a website to :)
henry, I'm surprised at the circumcision thing...sounds like you found someone easy? My SIL was gonna get my nephew done but it seems over here Drs are funny on doing it, unless we just don't know the right ones....strange! No judgement from me btw, just saying it's wierd how some Drs are funny about it is all...
My DD has been playing up a bit too...whenever I feed she starts doing things she knows shes not allowed to or tries climbing on me...it's hard that they don't understand...little princess, gotta love her!
amity, I really hope you get the pics back! Damn technology hey? We love it but we hate it.....
Hope everyone had a good day...

HM: we had professional photos done there last year we won them at the babies and kids expo. gfp tudio has a package we got done at the hospital last time bt they weren't there when i had jack so i am gonna ring and make an appoinment to gat the same pack.
MISHLC:the hospital has a list of 3 doctors who do it in brisbane i had to ask for a referral and we have to travel an hour to see the doctor but this doctor done our frends little boy and they were so pleased with the job i love the fact that hey don't cut them any more they put a lttle plastic ring under the fore skin after numbing creme applyed tie a string around a groove in the ring and thats it it just drops off like the belly button stump.
dh has taken dd to bunnings this morning so i have a bit of time to my self. i am going mad not being able to do lots like i used too but i'll get over it.
Anyone heard from meegs?
henry, that sounds a bit better doesn't it. Bummer about the travel but I guess it's worth it.
popetsmum, I know, I was all confused...thought excited had left us...then my brain slowly put 2 and 2 together....I still wonder where the others are...
Who was jadegreens text buddy and timetoplay etc...theres heaps of them missing from action...I just hope they're ok and just being busy Mums!

Mish- I spoke to LittleKicker last week, her & Josh are doing fine. I think as quite a few of us are first time mummies its taking abit to get the hang of things, I know it took me awhile!
A couple of weeks ago we had Maddy's feet done at Twinkle Toes I am hoping to get it back next week some time:fingerscrossed: and in a couple of weeks we are getting pics done of Maddy(by the girl that did our preggy pics) I am kinda bummed that I couldn't get them done sooner, I wanted really newborn pics but she is so busy.
Oh and tomorrow we have an appointment with the orthapaedic(sp?) surgen to check that Maddy's hips have finished developing properly so:fingerscrossed: everything is good.
Anyway it going to be a quiet day for us, I am hoping to catch up on some sleep:sleeping:
Have a good day ladies!
Michelle
Yummm, I'm getting takeaway tonight from a yummy Restaurant down the road for our Anniversary. I'm gonna have some Champagne too...just a bit....
I've been nagging DH that we go out but he has agreed we can get takeaway instead as they do the same meals in takeaway, waaay cheaper, bonus...and it'll be hard with 2 bubs so takeaway it is.
I can't wait for dinner!

hi girls
Just a quick one from me. Lucas is actually sleeping on his own for once, and has been asleep since about 1ish. He sleeps for 6 hours at night in bed with us, i would love him to do that on his own. I dont mind him sleeping with us, but am scared he will never sleep on his own if i keep doing it KWIM.
Am getting my 6 week check up on thursday, even tho its only been 5 weeks as DH is home, cos we are picking my dad up from the airport in the arvo. I just want to get the all clear so i can join the gym this week. Am itching to do some proper exercise.
Hope everyone is doing well, hopefully will be able to chat more soon.
calm, Just read your birth story...better late than never! This time round, instead of joining the gym I'm spending the $$$ on equipment and buying it for home. Good thing is DH wants an excercise bike, so he gets that and I get to spend $$$ for a cross trainer and I'll get a step and a mini tramp etc and work out my own little routine thing.
So wanna get back into my good clothes....
I know what you mean about sleeping with you, they say though, you can't spoil a newborn, up to 12wks do whatever works, then try get into routine stuff....thats what I'm doing anywy...and I am the last person who would have condoned co-sleeping....since joining this Hub my thoughts on so many things ahve dramatically changed!
Hope everyone is having a good day....heard any News on meegs?
Hey guys I posted this back in the when are you due thread but will post here too.
I got this at 6.40pm last night.
"Sat at the hospital for 3 hours doc did an internal and decided she would break my waters in the morning so im back at home for the night. so distraught."
and this one at 12pm today
"Waters have been broken. Will have the drip put in at about 1 if contractions havnt started"
How much weight did everyones bubs loose at after they were born and how quickly did they re gain it im not sure if EJ has gained enough after loosing 330gms at 3 days past birth.
Also how heave was eveyones bleeding after bubs was born and did you have any clots sorry TMI but today I have lost 3 little clots.

Hey Amity.
Lucas was 3780g at birth, then 3440g at day 5. Then 3810g a week later, then 4200g another week later. We are getting him weighed on thursday, which is two weeks after the last one. I think they 10% is what they can lose in that first week.
My bleeding had pretty much stopped after two weeks, but then started again last week a little heavy with some clots, but has slowed down again, hopefully will stop completely soon. If you are worried id get checked though, am not sure what is normal, i was just going to ask at my checkup on thursday.

Amity - I had heavy bleeding a day after I had bubs then it went away gradually in a few weeks.. its also normal to have a few little clots.. but if they are bigger than a 20 cent coin I'd go and see ur doctor

Well.. Its my first day alone at home with bubs without my parents or siblings being around..

Oh what is everyone doing for contraception?
I am now undecided about number two, so want to use something that wont affect breastfeeding and wont mess up my cycles for if we do decide to have another.
DH doesnt mind either way, but i am a little scared at the thought of being pregnant and giving birth again :gloomy:

Hi everyone, I only just discovered this forum! I'm a first time mum: Amelie May arrived on 10th September. So far, so good! She has night and day all mixed up, but hopefully that will turn around eventually. I'm looking forward to getting to know other Sept 07 mums.

oh ok thanks:)
hi all well finlly found a moment to catch up have had a busy few days and have finally got dd1 into bed and am one handed typing!!!well addison is frowing well she has a fat little belly but the doc thinks she may be lactose intolerant too like dd1 but we will wait and see what happens there! I took her to the cranio oesteopath today who worked wonders on her she said that addison was the tightest baby she had come across in a while Which I think is from the c section birth, she has already started settling by herself which she hasnt done ever she was either feeding herelf to sleep or falling asleep on me or daddy. And she is so much more relaxed oh and her wind is coming up heaps quicker.Ive got to take her back for more treatments but Im so glad I took her..
On the contraception thing calm Ive got the mini pill from my middie but you have to be very religious taking it same time every day as I do know several people that have gotten pregnant on it but it doesnt interfere with bf I so havent given hubby any sexy time at all keep meaning to iykwim but seem to just fall alseep after running around after dd1 and finally settling dd2.I reckon well have to use raincoats, minipill get hubby to have a "v sec" and then I might be happy that I wont get pregnant.hello to all my other yummy mummy friends out there and "go meegs""
Hey guys.
Hope all are keeping well. Didn't get on iin time to wish meegs luck before hand but will say now that hope all going well and things go quickly for her.
Amity - I had heavy bleeding 1st couple of days then went light for about 4 days before sort of picking up on and off since then. Had some bright red blood which meant I was overdoing it a bit but that cleared with rest. Apparantly not unusual for heavy bleeding to last for a while (I know I had much heavier bleed and for longer with DS1 than this time). Also, with clots, middies told me that if you kinda smoodge it with the pad and it all smears into pad and doesn't leave lumps/solid bits it's all good, just concerned if doesn't all 'disappear' whrn rubbed as may indicate some placenta left behind. Unless your having solid clots or bright red bleeding thats not going back to dark red/brown wiith rest or is super heavy loss (ie - going through a pad an hour kind of thing) I wouldn't stress to much. :D
mish - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!! Hope you've had a good one and that your tea is nice. DH is working tonight and had left overs for DS so since I'm only cooking for myself I'm just having a boring old omelette so I'm jealous . Also, can't seem to find the invite for Sun so could you pretty please PM me the details :o
larabelle - hi and welcome. Love your DD's name. If DS2 would have been a girl his name would have been Amelie Cait but since he's a boy we thought we'd better choose something else
calm - Last time round DH and I just used condoms as we knew we where going to try for #2 when Ds was 9 months old so figured it wasn't worth worrying about the pill. This time not 100% sure but will probably go on the mini pill as still undecided about whether ther'll be a #3 or not but even if there is will probably leave a bit bigger gap this time so I can enjoy not being pg and not bf'ing for a bit before being pg again as have been pg or bf'ing for 27+ months straight now (with a while yet to come before stopping (at least a year I hope)) so miss some things lol.
nmummy - glad your DD doing better now. You always crack me up too  raincoats, mini pill and 'v sec'
Sorry if I missed others in personals. Hi and I still love ya's if I did,
Called into CHC today and Dev now weighs 4250g so has put on 605g since birth and 785g since discharge from hospi (lost 180g when weighed on day3) so going ok. He's been a porker today though and is drinking both breasts every 2 hrs or so. This is a lot considering if I let milk flow free when feeding (not expressing - just dripping out) I get 60 -70 ml so actual feeding (or expressing) would get heaps more than that. Must be having a growth spurt or something. Also went for his newborn hearing test today. Had to wait around for ages but eventually got in and all was good so wa peased with that.
Alrighty, gotta go as the munchkin wants to feed again and I've gotta feed myself sometime soon so will catch up more later hopefully.
Hey guys how was everyones nights???
EJ is sleeping really well he has been going down to sleep at about 7.30pm then waking at 12.30am for a feed then sleeping till 4.30pm for a feed then waking again at about 8.00am so all in all im pretty happy.
He is a very spewey baby and I have heaps of milk so I have to express about 40mls befor I put him on and only feed him for about 3min at a time then let him have a breather then 3 min again he usually has 3 x 3min feeds each lot Im just worried that maybe he isnt getting enough.
On the whole contraception thing I havnt really thought about it or even looked into any of the options avalible as long as it dosnt interfere with my breatfeeding as we wont be having another baby for at least 3 years at the moment I cant even contemplate having sex ever agian. Poor DP
Camcat Dev is gaining weight like a champion I hope EJ's picks up soon.
Well I best get some house work done and maybe ill get to finish my birth story today
Be back soon

Alrighty - ive pulled my finger out and jumped ship - now meegs has had her bubba!
Calm - ive been wondering the same - think we might do mini pill for a few months - then i will find out about Mirena, you cant have one placed up to 3 months after a c sect though. I never wanted to go back on to any pill ever again - but due to latex and rubber allergy we cant do condoms.
Do you have to go to the Child health centre every week for weigh ins/newborn check up? I was supposed to go again tomorow and also sit in on my first parenting/mothers group but im still feeling really sick from mastitus - and the tablets make me feel terrible. I feel bad not going, but the thought of passing out half way there is a bit scary.
I feel like a bit of a looser actually - everyone who has had a c sect recently seems to be doing really well, coping and not have any or much pain - while i look like im constantly going to pass out and am still quite tender. I really hope i start to feel a bit more energetic and well soon!
I have to go back and read all the prev posts, if i can! I might have breakfast first, i really cant be assed eating though!
djf, I am really surprised how good I feel this time round....with DD I didn't go anywhere for about 3 weeks at least!
Don't worry too much, you do start to feel better eventually...I tell you DD was going to be an only child for a while there but you do get over it after a while...I couldn't even stand sleeping with DH for about a month or 2 after DD....
Hugs to you!
Wow jcb, they're pretty cool pics...looks like Brissy could be a place for skiing in the next few years...can't believe all that hail!
calm, I'm starting the mini pill soon but I agree with nmummy you have to be religious about taking it as you have to take it same time or within an hour of the same time everyday.....I planned a close gap for my 2 babies but cos I had a CS and wanted to go VBAC this time I left a bigger gap to let the scar heal. If you want to go VBAC next time round....DO NOT HAVE A CT DONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!!! Thats my biggest regret having that. As my Dr/Ob said to me, they are useless as it cannot tell them what your pelvis would be like in pregnancy or labour however because I had, had it done she had to take into consideration the fact that one of the measurements wa narrow so she would extra cautious with me. A bit contradictory don't you think???
So if you wanna go VBAC and have the best possible oppurtunity to do so, don't have a CT, no matter how much your Dr recommends it as it is useless in saying whether you can deliver a baby or not and don't think cos you stalled with Lucas it will happen again....you have the ability to birth your baby, just remember that!
I know your a clever cookie anyway and did all your research for your Homebirth plans etc so alls I'm saying is do lots of homework...
btw, we started trying for DS just after DD's 1st birthday...I fell pregnant straight away but we were prepared for it poss taking longer, we were just lucky it happened so easily...Good Luck tho!
camcat, Will PM ya now!
Hi girls.
Had the ladies from DS1's mothers group round today for coffe and chats (and the all important choccie biccies lol). The kids all had a play and the mums all had cuddles with Dev and got all clucky . Was nice to catch up though.
amity - I have over supply issues (and fast flow/let down) too and it will settle down eventually. I'm sure EJ would definately let you know if he was hungry. bubs have growth spurts too so I'm sure that he'll be wanting more or waking more before you know it and you'll be wondering what you where worried about. Also found Dev drinks more and spews less when I manage to get him to burp mid feed as coz it flows so fast he gulps a bit to keep up and so gets extra bubbles in his belly which fills him up with air instead of milk and causes half the milk to come back up (although not always so easy to make him burp  )
DjF - don't beat yourself up over being a bit sore still. You had a hard pg so your body is trying to recover from that on top of your c/s and then now mastitis to boot. Make sure you rest up and take it easy till the mastitis goes too. With DS1 my mastitis turned into a breast abcess that had to be surgically removed (mostly due to an incompetent Dr) but it's no fun at all and is definately a pain having a massive hole in your boob till it heals so make sure you look after yourself.
hope everyone else is well and your munchkins are going good to.

afternoon ladies how is everyone doing today? went back to hospital for photo's today jack looked so cute in his new out fit. went to dfo today and picked up a cute tuxedo shirt for jack for saturday dh cousin is getting married sligtht problen though as i don't have any thing to wear as my tummy still is a bit pokey outy will have to get dh to bring up box of clothes i packed away that didn't fit so i can see if there is any thing in there to wear. the circumcisn went real well yesterday youw ouldn't think any thing happened they way jack was afterwards he was really good and didn't seem to be distressed at all. we have a doc appointment tomorrow morning. engorgment is still happening but no wear near as bad as it was so starting to settle down. jack is getting into a better sleep pattern at night so i am getting quite a bit of rest.
henry, thats great about the circ...whats the tux shirt? is that on of those cute novelty type ones where its a bub outfit with a tux printed on it? very cute! Yay on the sleep...
I've been out to Ikea today spending way too much money....got heaps of cool stuff tho and couldn't resist getting some yummo swiss choc!
Off to Freo tomorrow for a bit of a Perth SOR meet and then cooking Sat for DD party.
Anyone heard from meegs...hope she makes it home in time and feeling ok for Sun cos its her DD birthday too
xxx Mish
Hey all.
Been out spending money today :o
Not too bad and only on stuff we need but still feel a bit bad coz spent a bit and used to being really frugal so seems strange when I get to spend.
Was asked while in the parents room today if my breast implants hurt to get done and how I was managing bf'ing with them  .
The lady didn't really beleive me when I said they where all my own. Explained that still have tonnes of milk coz DS only 3 wks old and that they will settle down eventually. She gave me an odd look and told me I was very skinny for having a 3 wk old bub and had very large breasts so was I sure I hadn't had implants as was nothing to be ashamed about
Ummm, yep, pretty sure I'd remember having implants put in . Told her I was flattered she thought I looked good for having had bub and I am lucky to have lost tummy so quickly but that it was a little unnerving having her watch me feed and studying my breasts while discussing implants that I don't have  at which point she apologised and returned to help her friend pack up their bag and left. (I might add she hasn't had a child, was there with her friend so maybe that's why she was a little niave about things??)
Definately one of the strangest things I've ever had happen to me lol.
Not much else going on for me.
mish - won't b too late on sun. Prob about 9.30/10.00 ish once the boys are up and fed etc. DS1 doesn't normally sleep past 8ish and latest normally 8.30 so may be on time or otherwise just after.
henry - glad things are all going well for ya. (ie sleep, circ, pics etc lol)
Well what a day I have had today EJ woke up at about 8 for a feed and then screamed for almost 4hrs straight he wouldnt take the boob or anything I was getting a little distressed.
I think he had pains in his belly because he would calm down for a min then his little belly would go all hard and he would bring his little legs up and absoloutly howl. He did 2 big poo's a giant burp then went to sleep for 4 hours so obviously that was his problem.
I also noticed today when i changed his nappie that in the creases of one of his legs on right up next to his willy its all red and weaping I think ill take him to the doctor tomorrow to get it checked out.
Camcat how funny is that about the lady and your boobs mine are the same I have so much mikl its not funny DP looks at them as though he is in heaven although he isnt quite gaim enough to actually go anywhere near them he is a bit freaked out about the milk thing.
Henry girl im glad Jack is going well after his circumsision my brother was done at 2yrs old for medical reason and it was horrific. We were going to get EJ done but didnt get it organised in time and now DP has decided he dosnt want it done I left the decision up to him.
Hey guys, ofdf to Freo today for a meet so should be nice!
I have slept Marc on his tummy a few times now and he sleeps so much better...no grunting and sqirming.
I slept DD on her tummy after about 4-5wks too and it seems I may have to with DS.
I have watched him and he lkifts his head and turns it when he needs to change sides but I think it's better he gets a good sleep than to put him on his back like they say you should.
Am I being naughty doing this? I feel bad cos you're not meant to but it's better I think?
Should I feel guilty?

Heath has now only woken up once at 4am TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW for a feed..
so hes practically sleeping through the night!
I got 7 hrs sleep last night:D woop woop:smiliedance:
I hope it lasts though... yesterday I thought it was gunna be just a one off thing but last night it happened again
yyaaayyyy... haaha

.
Sounds like nappy rash:)
Heath had it too... I used LOTS of Sudocrem every time I changed him and it went away in a few days
u have to lather it on or it doesnt work though
What nappys are u using??
might also be the nappy rubbing against his skin.. so maybe try changing brands?
amity, another awesome cream is Daktozin...i think thats spelt right??? Its like an antifungal aswell so if its a bit of a nappy rash and slightly thrush like its great! i use it....
jeclipse, i wouldn't worry about the spots, their skin can be funny for the first few months, its prob something your eating? DS had an ugly burst of baby acne last week but its clearing up now, prob got it cos i ate Maccas like 2-3 times in the week so it was junk overload! a very rare occurance...
thanks for the reassurance btw!
Had a great meet in Freo, only a few of us but it was good!

Hi Ladies
My DS2 is now 2.5 weeks, but v unsettled. Anyone have any settling tips?
Regards Kerrie
superbaby, bbl to give some tips
HM, i think you can only get it from a chemist?
Hi girls
Superbaby- I find when all else fails is to give them a warm bath and in the bath place then on their bellies...It could be trapped wind that could be making him unsettled...
Hope we are all doing well. Seb just wouldn't sleep last night unless I was holding him, not sure why maybe just wanted mummy cuddles. DS1 woke at 2 and it took us 3 hrs to get him to go back to sleep. I am soooooo tired right now.
We have my cousins wedding tomorrow, I will take some photos of us all dressed up and post them later. Also on Sunday we have my nephews 1st birthday party so a busy weekend for us.
Hopefully I can get on here to say hi and catch up on the goss but if not hope everyone has a great weekend in whatever you are doing....

hello everyone:wave:
just a quickie, little guy is doing reallly well, I am a bit blown away by how quickly he drains my booberella ( he only has one side each feed) It would sometimes take an hour & half with DD ,but with my little guy he is finished in about 10 to 15 mins, he is getting ample as he is piling on the weight ,unless he is sneaking in some hamburgers that i don't know about   .
I am finding that he is settling much better that DD ( I cant help comparing the differences atm) & i think that is because i am going with the flow , as with DD i was reading books getting her into a routine ,I have found that when people talk of Eat Play Sleep routines with a newie they dont tell you really the "play "part is just a cuddle .
So i think with DD (who i used to pase the hallway for hours with) was way over stimulated , & DS the second i see him being jerky or a single yawn , he is wrapped up quick as a flash.
i have let the idea of routine go out the window & somehow he will just slip into the one i already have going on with dd,it is alot less streesful.
Hugs to you all you sound like your all doing really well:hugs:

Hi Ladies

maybe a few trips round the block in the car?
i also bounce on my fit ball while holding him, he loves it.
or as jcb said a shower or a bath and on the tummy.
also bright lights from tv might get his attention, my ds loves that - but can't remember if it caught his attention at 2 1/2 wks?
if all else fails maybe a dummy - might b a little early for you though?
goodluck
i'm back to bed, ds has only woken once for a feed tonight and only for 15mins - guess i should be making the most of all this sleep time!!!!!!!
bye!

jack has warmed to sleeping on his tummy:shame: we find he sleeps much better during the day / more settled but we won't sleep him on hs tummy if we aren't awake. he is still feeding every 2hours which mean i am a jersey cow with huge (.)(.) that just won't settle down our gp appointment went well. unfortunately we noticed he had a dimple above his bum hole sorry tmi wich was a bit naughty as it could be linked to spina bifida and we have to get an untrasound to cheeck it out we told the gp that dd had the same thing and we just thought nothing of it. the thing is dh dad has it and as we don't talk to him haven't in like 20 years it's a bit worrying not nowing if it is or not. dd is fine and stuff but weare gonna get her checked too. well we weren't gonna do dummy with jack but hey guess what he has one as i am trying to stretch his feeds. well gotta go dd hs swimming today and need to get everything organised. bye:wave:
Just a quick message this morning. My milk came in yesterday afternoon and I swear I never had anywhere near this much pain with DD. They are just rock hard and so heavy and ouchies. So sore, that last night we ended up formula feeding him. Going to express some milk in the shower this morning and then get out the breastpump for a while.
How long does it take for them to settle down? Does anyone have any tips to help settle them down quicker? I really want to put him back on the boob today but the thought of him latching onto them is making me cringe.

 Hello meegs welcome back :hugs:
I expressed 100mls out of each booberella when ever they were engorged ,it was heaven .
Hot showers massage helped alot to, one MW told me to put an ice pack on them , but i couldnt do that .
I fed DD my expressed milk in a bottle when i first came out of hospital ( i know thaey say not to for nipple confusion) but this was great to give my boobs a rest ,also there is a great cream from the chemist in a purple tube (lanolin) that wont hurt bubs ,no need to wash it off.
Ummm it took about 3 1/2 weeks before i could stop wearing a bra 24/7.
take care , gotta go i got a munchkin calling:yes:
meegs, my boobs are just now (4wks) ok...prior they were very tender to touch and i did cringe everytime i had to feed...i would bite my lip and kick my feet until he was on and after about 2 mins was ok...then when he finished he bites off...thats kills! hes getting better, perservere tho cos it does get better!
superbaby, i do what the girls above have said, try over the shoulder patting his back and jigging...this is what i do. could try laying him tummy down over your arms and swing/rocking him....try a dummy? I understand if you would rather avoid, i was the same but used one with DD and sometimes give one to DS as it just helps soothe them and can help bring up the wind. I find he will use my boob as one and I don't like it cos if he has a tummy ache and is using my boob as a dummy, the milk going on top of whats in his belly doesn't help!
Just try everything till you see what works, then you'll prob find something that works and it will need to change after a week or 2 cos he'll chnage his mind, hahaha
henrygirl, I'm sleepin DS on his tummy...did it yesterday and tried last night and he slept sooo much better. I did it with DD too. I think them having a comfortable good sleep is important too. I feel a bit guilty but at the same time they say not to do it to reduce risk of sids but theres no real link....its just precautionary.
toffee, I'm the same...just going with the flow this time round! I am finding it so much better, I'm not as stressed or freaked about things..if he's screaming for a feed I don't get myself worked up and rushing to get him fed, he can cry a little bit it won't hurt him and I can only do so many things at once, best not rush to a feed and sit down to find I've got no nursing pads and no drink handy etc
DS doesn't hardly cry tho so is good, DD cried ALL the time, so I think he's just a totally diff baby anyway...
but Yeah, I';m just going with the flow and trying to work it so they have the same sort of routine that way I get a little sleep in the afternoon too!
 Hope all have a good day! I'm making party food and stuff for DD's birthday tomorrow! I get so excited over birthdays, especially my own which is soon, Yay! but I love doing the cool birthday cakes etc for DD and soon do DS'
How are your plans going meegs?
I put all DD's stuff togetehr last night, the pram and cot thingy etc.We are doing that from now on, instead of wrapping the presents etc for her, we are going to take them all out the boxes and stuff and put it all together then tonight we will put them all out in the lounge room and put balloons and streamers over it all for her so when she gets up, she can come out and all her present will be there ready for her to play with!
Otherwise we have to spend 1hr getting it all out the boxes and putting it togetehr and she gets frustrated cos she just wants to play with it all!
I will post pics etc tomorrow night or Mon of pressies and cake etc!

meegs: i have the same problem i feel i have enough milk for three babies. try to express some milk out of both boobies just before bubs is due for a feed to soften them up. i found the let down was more painful if fully engorged. you may have to express and bottle feed until it settles down.
Hey Meegs glad to see you back here and doing well. My boobies were thesame and the only thing that I found that worked was expressing about 50mls from them before each feed just to make them soft and easier to latch on to. I must say mine have settled down heaps now they only get sore at night when he sometimes goes 5 hrs without a feed and then I just express as much as necessary from each side to make them comfortable. The nipple cream that I have been using more so as a precautionary is called Lansinoh it comes in a purple tubeand you dont need to wash it off not sure if its the same one as Toffee was talking about but its really good.
EJ sleeps all night in his bouncer at the moment we find that he sleeps for a good 5 hours where as in his bassinett we are lucky to get 2 hrs out of him plus its so much easier for me because he is right beside me as we have a very low bed.
does anyone have a baby that does massive spews after their feeds EJ every now and then does these massive spews that are like a river pouring out of him he has done 2 today im worried he is spewing everything up and nothing is staying down although he is having like 10 or more wet nappies in 24 hrs so he must be getting something right????
I had to go to a hens night last night for my aunty woh is getting married next weekend I was so nervous about leaving EJ it just felt so weird to not have him near me he was at home with DP so prefectly fine and I was only gone from 7 -9.30 DP had to give him a bottle feed of EBM which he took with minimal fuss which I was v happy about at least I know if worst comes to worst and I cant be here to feed him that he will take the bottle.
amity, Marc does that. I think its cos they get wind trapped at the beginning of the feed so most of it sits on top and when they bring it up its alot....
If worried just ring Health Direct but it sounds alot like my DS
Hi mummies!!
good to see how everyone is going Hiya meegs glad to see your back and doing well.I too had terrible engorgement with addison while I was in hosp it was such a shock as I didnt have it anywhere near the same with dd1.I would go into the shower and let hot water run over them and then they put cold icepacks on them it was the longest night of my life but it did subside a few days later and feeding dd2 it was like she had cooking oil on her lips she would just slip right off!!but once I expressed she could get on and now its all good.had addisons jabs and six week check yesterday I felt so sad that they had to poke holes in my girl but I at least got to cuddle the good end while daddy had the job of holding onto the yukky end .but she gave a huge cry and I fed her straight away and then she preceeded to sleep for the entire day bar feeding every now and then is anyone demand feeding or exactly every four hours or three etc.I am demand feeding and my girl has turned into a right little pudding but oh so squeezable and cuddly I love it!
addison is 5.6kgs and 58.5cms long and 38.5cm head :yelclap: good girl!!!
hope your dd's have great birthdays tomoorw meegs and mishl Im sure they will have a great time and be very spoilt:smiliedance: Righto better go and tend to my girls hi to everyone!!!!

Hi guys.
meegs - I found it helped to feed braless and let whichever side not being fed off drip while feeding, as well as regular feeds to ease engorgement. I didn't do all this with DS1 and took a lot longer to settle down. This time it only took around 2 weeks and now they're pretty good unless Dev goes over about 4-4.5 hrs between feeds, then they get a bit full, hard and ouchie. Still got a too much milk but more comfortable at least (although they still look enormous so guess I'm stuck with mammoth breasts for a while ). Also found the lanisoh to help this time round (forgot to use it with DS1 ) Hope yours settle down soon. Sore boobs are no fun at all.
superbaby - If bub unsettled from wind massaging tummy can help. If you massage bubs tummy in a clockwise direction it stimulates their digestive system and encourages any wind trapped in their intestines and/or bowels to move along (be prepared for massive farts after this though ). Doesn't help if the wind is still in their stomach though. Otherwise I find both of my DS's slept a bit better while quite little with a night light and have headr that putting a ticking clock nearby can help as reminds bub of your heart beat. Also wrapping and if bub is too hot or cold won't settle so try dressing in different things for bed to see if that helps? Hope you find something that works soon
nmummy - sounds like DD2 going well . I'm demand feeding but will wake him during the day at around 3 hourly intervals if he hasn't woken himself coz if I go too long I get to full and sore still and wanting to get him into the habit of frequent daytime feeds so can have longer stretches at night.
amity - Sounds like trapped wind. DS will spew if I don't burp him regularly mid feed. Coz I have fast let down/flow he has to gulp a bit to keep up so gets extra air. Maybe try pulling EJ off after a few minutes and burping him then starting again? I find I have to wait for initial spurt of let down to pass or I just squirt milk clear across the room but once the let down feeling passes I can take him off and stop the milk dripping everywhere by pressing on my boob while I burp him (a bit of juggling required but you get the hang of it )
calm - sounds like your doing an awesome job with your weightloss. Good on ya hon!
Well was out and about at spring in the valley yesterday (a big festival in the swan valley which is a wine and produce type area). Every year we have a busload of us that tour around the wineries and breweries in the area. Had a good day but was really hot here yesterday so not quite as much fun as other years. I was the only sober one and only got 1 drink. Was going to have 2 - a beer early in day and a glass of wine later but was too hot so just had my beer as was refreshing but didn't feel like wine. Everyone else got extra smashed (worse because it was hotter I think) and provided lots of entertainment for me . DS1 went off to his nannas and took DS2 with us. He was so good all day, just fed and slept like normal.
Very annoyed at my mum though as she didn't listen to a word I told her about DS, his routnie and stuff I was sending and he came back tired, grumpy and with heaps of stuff missing (eg - she completely unpacked his nappy bag and sent it back without his hat, sunnies or wipes. Used all the clothes and nappies form his napppy bag rather than the stuff I sent for her to use etc). She also lost one of his shoes so just brought him back without them. Didn't bother to tell me so I was searching everywhere for them (he only has 1 pair of shoes the right size as we decided to get him 1 pair of expensive shoes fitted each season to look after his feet rather than a few pairs of cheaper ones).
Definately not impressed as got up to go out this morning and instead of being able to feed the boys, dress them, grab the bags and go I had to completely repack DS1's bag, (which was missing half of the items supposed to be in it) try to find some shoes for him to wear. Was so mad as was going to mishlc's daughters b'day which was at a park so needed shoes, hat and suncream and none of it was here. Very annoyed as she didn't even take DS1 out anywhere so she shouldn't actually have used anythign from the bag at all, let alone all of the stuff.
sorry, bit of a rant but got extra mad as when called my mum to find out where all the stuff was she tried to blame it all on my sis. made me extra mad as she's the adult, she reckons she's looking after him so is her responsibilty and i think it's rude and unfair of her to try pass the blame off onto my sis (maybe you can all tell there are some issues with my mom lol. she drives me completely nuts sometimes and she's not a particularly good mum. she has some problems and needs to grow up and start taking responsibilty for herself and her actions)
on the upside feel better for having gotten all that off my chest so thanks for putting up with it lol.
DS2 had a couple of unsettled nights. He will sleep well early in night (doing roughly 4hr stretches from 6/7ish till anywhere between 12 and 1.30is but then will wake every couple of hrs). Not necessarily because he's hungry, moreso waking with wind in his lwer tummy. If I massage his tummy he passes it pretty quickly and goes back to sleep but hard still as even though I get to go straight back to bed my sleep is broken so get more tired. Finding it a little hardre this time in a way as I can only nap when both DS's are napping so have limited catch up time which means feeling a bit more tired. All in al ot to bad though and am used to little sleep from sleep issues in high school so as long as it doesn't go on and on for ever I'll manage
Off shopping with my sis tomorrow as now need to buy DS1 some more shoes (grr!). Looking foward to spending some quality time with my sis though.
Hope all are well and bubs doing great. Catch ya's again later.
mish - thanks babe! You have some gorgeous kidlets too :D
DS1 had a big nap and was much happier this arvo (thank god!) and I was pleasantly surprised. DH hadn't done all the cleaning he said he would but had done a fair chunk of it which I hadn't really expected as the moto GP was on (at Phillip Island) so thought he'd probably have left it all.
Morning girls
Well we had a busy weekend just past. On Saturday is was my baby cousins wedding. It was a beautiful day to have it aswell, it wasn't to hot in the church which was good. All my kids were dressed up and looking very cute for the day. I will post some photos of them. I had to feed Seb during the service and after he did this huge burp, right when they were having a prayer, it was so funny.
He slept for the whole reception too, I don't know how he did as it was so noise. He missed out on two feeds, but he made up for it when he got home thats for sure, he was up at 12am, 2am, 3.30am wanting more boobie and then he was up at 5am, but hubby did that feed as I was so tired.
Yesterday we had my nephews 1st birthday party to go to, it was fun, not to noisey which was good as I was so tired and had a bit of a headache.
Well Seb is growing well and I think he has put on more weight this week as he seems to be getting heavy. Well have to go it feed time yet again. Be back later to do some personals.
Oh and Mishcl you little girl is so cute, love the cake as well. Did you do that yourself?

Hi everyone
I too miss being on here chatting so much. Its been very busy since I got home Thursday afternoon. Midwife came and did Josh's heel pr!ck test on Friday, Saturday I tried to just rest most of the day and yesterday we were very busy with DD's birthday party.
She got so spoilt and now we have a million toys to find new homes for. She had the best day, will have to post some pics when I get them on the computer.
Happy Birthday to mishlc's DD, calm and djf for yesterday (cant believe 4 birthdays on the one day).
jcb, your kids look so great all dressed up. After that busy weekend I hope you are getting in a bit of rest today.
camcat, hope you have a good time shopping with your sister today.
mishlc, great pics from your DD's birthday party. Cant believe how many dolls and prams she has. The cake looks great too.
amity, we have put Josh in his bouncer in our room the last 2 nights as he sleeps in it much better than his cot. Also nice to have him right next to me instead of tracking back and forth to his room all night.
calm, you're doing so well with your weightloss. Great work!
Well Josh is 6 days old now and is such a good boy. He is still feeding every couple of hours at the moment little piggy. Boobs have settled down alot from a few days ago, thanks heaps for all your advice ladies. Have been expressing a few times each day which is helping but am going to get a new breastpump. I have the Nuk one but it is very noisy and Im not getting much out of each session so will be getting a medela swing as Ive heard good things about them.
Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Hi September Mums,
I know some of you, though some of you don't know me!, but I read the due in September thread the whole way through, so I am up to date on all of you:yes:
I won't get alot of time to post, but just wanted to say congratulations to you all and hope your little darlings are doing wonderfully well.
Our little guy is doing very well, he is 14 weeks old tomorrow and he weighed 4kg today, this is very exciting for us given his size when he was born.
Is starting to smile which is priceless, but will probably do things at his corrected age, but like all babies will do what he wants, when he wants!
Take care girls and again Congratulations:wave:

happybirthday
Sorry guys, I didn't know! Hope you had great days!
meegs, I know...she has waaay too many dolls etc. I said to my Mum and DH...we could pretty much get rid of all her stuff each year and just let her have what she gats for Birthday and Christmas cos she has sooo many I can't find homes for them.
My Mum is coming over on Wed and we're gonna go through all her stuff and give a bit of it to Santas Workshop, it's a little charity thing Mum knows the organisers and they give toys etc to children in need and people in retirement homes etc a nd will give some to DD's dayvare etc...she seriously has heaps of toys. I have about 4 boxes in Marc's room packed away and a whole section in her wardrobe full and now alll what she got for her birthday...so lots!
I have the Nuk pump too and it is quite noisy, was thinking of getting another but I don't use often so might be a waste of $$$...I'll see how I go.
jcb, Yep, I made the cake...am going to do a replica and enter it in the Canning Show...a little show we have here. I entered a copy of DD's ladybug cake last year and won 2nd place so I'll see how I go this time
Sebastian looks like a real little boy... as in not babyish in the face iykwim. So cute!
Is that your hubby holding him, how long is his hair! Very Rock n' Roll...
camcat, Good to hear DH did all that for ya and DS1 had a good sleep...as you prob read DD didn't and she was a right little so and so!
bettyboo, I didn't chat with you but know who you are! Glad to hear bub is gaining weight etc. It's amazing they can be born so early and still grow so well etc My cousin was prem and she was so little she had a flannel as a nappy (like how a term baby would wear a terry flat) so teeny tiny. Like I said, amazing....
Gotta love those new little smile! DS has just started giving me smiles. DH says it's wind but there is a def diff and he is smiling...just melts ya! Valentine
Hope everyone else is going good!
Must go
xx Mish
Mish- There is no way I could do a cake like that, I am flat out just making a packet one properly let alone try something like that. My hubby is the baker in the family he is so much better at it then me. Yes that is my hubby, he usual has his hair tied back but it is long. Funny you should say Rock n' Rollish as he was in a band until last year, he is a very good guitar player has been since he was 15. Yes Sebastian does have a real little boys face, he is so alert all the time and when he looks at you he is really looks at you. I really believe he has been here before.
Yes Sebastian does have a real little boys face, he is so alert all the time and when he looks at you he is really looks at you. I really believe he has been here before.
jcb, Marc is the same...I reckon him and Georgia have been here before and everyone says it too! Marc has a real old man sort of face, it's very cute Valentine
Gotta love a guy that can play guitar! I bet he's a good singer too. My brother plays, well not much anymore but he started when he was grade 6, so 11 and did it right through school...now he does every now and then but we all wish he did it more cos hes really good and a great singer.
My hubby is the baker too cos he follows recipes proeprly but cos I'm a savoury cook I find it hard to follow recipes especially baking cos the measurements have to be exact
I did make all this one tho and it didn't taste too bad...as for the decorating, it doesn't actually take too long just gotta have a bit of patience but once you start doing the little stars it goes quick...only took me about 45min-1hr max to decorate...the fiddliest thing was changing the colours in the bag cos I only have 1 piping bag and have to do all the diff colours...I didn't bother cleaning it out each time I just put the new colour on and piped out the old one.
Anyways, enough :ecomcity:
best go to bed now....

Morning Ladies:wave:
jcb- I love the family pics, very cute!
mish- glad to hear that your DD had a good bday, I love the cake & the pic of Marc in the baby stroller.
meegs- glad the (.)(.)'s are starting to settle down
Bettyboo- welcome back love, glad to hear that your little one is growing nicely
Calm & djf-happybirthday happybirthday I hope you both had good days!
As for us, we had Maddy's 6 week check up yesterday with the Paeditrician. She has grown 5cm & now weighs 3.5kg:smiliedance: it was reassuring to find out that she is doing well and that she is finally starting to gain weight. The doc also put us on to some wind drops (Donnalix) and they seem to be doing the trick as last night she finally slept in a 4 hour block and then in 2 hour blocks after that- 3 nights in a row before this she was waking every hour.
Also for those of you BF mum's that live in Brissy he also told me that I should be taking floride tablets so that Maddy's teeth will be strong- I got some from the chemist just ask for the ones for BF mum's- Collgate brand
I have my 6 week check up tomorrow which I'm looking forward to as just in the last couple of days my lower tummy where the incision is seems to be really tender, to the point where I have to lift myself off the bed with my arms so something doesn't seem right oh and I also want to be given the thumbs up to have sex again...even though we gave it a go already:o
Anyway thats enough :ecomcity: from me. Have a good day ladies!
Michelle
michelle, DH wants to do the deed but I'm still too tired etc....want to just can't be bothered. We did at about 6wks with DD...
Sorry if TMI guys, hahaha
GiggleBerry
16-10-2007, 11:40
Mish- Can't say that I was really into it but we hadn't done the deed since I was 3 months pregnant & I was starting to feel bad. *Warning TMI coming* It wasn't that good...it was too dry down there to be pleasant may need to use something next time:o
Michelle
Michelle, I'm starting to get to that feeling bad point too...he keeps dropping hints and stuff and I know he really wants to but I said to him, do you want me to just do it for the sake of shutting you up or do you wanna wait til I'm ready and he said the 2nd option but he could be waiting a while....I think I'm prob gonna end up caving in and having the "not so good" sex, to keep the peace.
I don't think guys get how tiring it can be and it seems wierd to me to have sex when my boobs are leaking and theres a baby right next to us in his bassinet. We could do it in the lounge room but TBH at the end of the day, once I've got Marc to sleep which is usually about 9pm I'm tired....
Sorry for all that, just need to say it or type it at least...it's just, it's very frustrating...

hiya mummies!hope youve all had a good day!
I have had a crazy few days addison decided she wouldnt sleep and basically stayed up all day on mon and most of sun as well she also so did a mercy dash to the baby shop and bought a hammock and stand for her to sleep in and lo and behold the little toad slept ten hours straight in it so this was me:smiliedance: I had both my girls alseep by 7.30pm it was so good.and today she has slept like a right trooper in it an Ive had them both down since 7.30 again so :fingerscrossed: it keeps working.also it was really weird I was trying to feed addi and she couldnt latch on and so for two days I kept trying her and she just kept slipping off so I expressed for that time and now she gets on the boobie fine anyone know what that could have been .do you thing it was a growth spurt or something anyways here s a few pics of her in her hammock http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w123/nmummy/addisonoct07115.jpg

thanks haydens mummy gosh how much more can my beautiful budha grow lol
ikwym!!!!! they grow so fast!! its crazy!!!!!
love the hammock btw! how much do they sell for if u don't mind me asking??
nmummy, I know what you mean when you said "pudding" she is adorable tho...my bot is getting a bit chubba too...he fits some size 3x0 now, he was a 5x0 when he was born...pretty much a 4x0 tho but scary when I put the 3x0 on and it wasn't far off fitting!
I wanna know more about the hammock too, they have em' at daycare...I would give anything a go if he sleeps longer!
Hi timetoplay, so glad you're back chatting with us...I miss everyone from the tellusall thread, most of em' have dissappeared!
Does anyone have it where their boob/nipple is kinda achy sore after a feed? I have it for about 5 mins after a feed its a bit achy and sore and very tender...he latches ok cos it feels fine when he feeds it's just after???
Hope all goea well at the spine check henry!
Morning!
DS slept from 7:30 - 2am last night!:smiliedance:
I didn't however, byt he time I got to bed about 9:30pm I got to sleep and woke with him seeming to stir at midnight, got up went to loo...then heard him stirring again 2am so got up quickly to express cos my boobs were so full he wouldn't of been able to feed!
He must have started crying cos then DH bought him out to me, so went to bed and fed him...then he slept till 5am.
So would've been a good run of sleep there if I didn't get up
So, it's a good sign he's sleeping longer! Yay!
I've been looking into the hammock thing but they do cost a bit and it's like $120 for 3 months to hire!!! Rip off!
DS sleeps on him tummy though so I don't know that a hammock will help....wish I could have a week free trial...
Well must go, DD at daycare today so have to try get lots done around here as it's my only day really to do it.

i can't believ there are :xmas::xmastree::reindeer: smileys already
.
Hi all
Just popping on to have a moan - then im off.
M rarely sleeps during the day now - for long any way. I have tried so many things - and its really starting to get to me. She always cries (and its gotten to a point DF cant handle it either - kinda upsets me but what can i do) - i spend every day at home by myself - no family support - feeding, burping, changing, pumping her legs to try get rid of wind, trying to get her to sleep and im exhausted. It takes all day to do the cycle then start over again. Have changed formula, have changed teat type to slow flow - to try decrease any extra air she is sucking in, wrap her to sleep etc. I have an appt with the health midwife tomorrow so will have a chat with her. Since i had mastitis i now have no breast milk so am forced to FF 100%. Really not too happy about that. Also think i have a hernia on my right side of my c scar, so will have that looked at too.
Am also getting a bit unhappy at how many people are asking me if and how much weight im losing - quite frankly id like to tell them to F*!? off - 3 weeks out of a c sect and i cant even walk properly yet! Why do people place so much importance on this? I feel like its really in your face - I mean, i dont like my baby belly one bit - so why make me feel worse when at this stage i cant do much excercise!? Some people have turds for brains - im sure. Not everyone can look like a supermodel after 3 weeks - despite society making out we should!.
Didnt get to do a thing for my birthday - was a horrid day of crying and screaming and nappy changing and feeding! Got some nice perfume off DF though.
On a final and good note - we are going away to see my sister and her new baby this weekend - she had a girl on Friday night - and they chose the middlename i gave them!
Ok - rant is over but im sorry im really not feeling that chirpy at the moment. I will make more of an effort to go back and look at past posts - if i get the chance.
Ok so my little man is asleep and I can finally get 2 seconds on here to catch up a little.
DjF Im so sorry that you are having such a hard time I dont have much advise to offer sorry as im just learning all these things too but I am here whenever you need to vent and let it out. However I do have some advise for the pains in the a$$ that are asking you about your weight tell them to stick it you have just had a baby who cares that is probably the last thing on your mind well I know its the last thing on my mind.
nmummy I have been thinking about the hammock but as mishlc said there a bit expensive especially considering I dont know if it would make DS sleep any better Im still looking into it. Addison is beautiful and certinally has no problems feeding I cant wait till my little man gets a bit of weight behind him he just feels so so tiny.
As for the whole sex thing DP has made a few passes at me over the last couple of days however there is no way im even thinking about sex yet down there needs to recover some what first maybe in two weeks or so I might be right.
When has everyone else started to have sex again when they have given birth naturally????
DS had the nurse come out and weigh him today he has put on 275gms in 8 days :smiliedance: :smiliedance: im one happy mumma I was so worried he wasnt getting enough from me but obviously he is and he is now back over his birth weight
Well I best go and get dinner cooked while my little man is asleep DP is at work tonight and wont be home till 9  I miss him so much when he isnt here.
Talk soon
hi guys!!
haydens mummy the hammock cost me 200 nz dollars and the stand was 139.00 but I have it hanging from the lounge doors during the day and on the stand in my room at night she slept for nine hours in it last night till I woke her cos my boobs were hurting but I tell you if you can get one they are so worth it for a bit of free hands, time and sanity and sleep.
Yeah no I cant believe myself how fast she is growing so do know what you mean:) .
Djf sorry to hear you are having a tough time ,it's hard to see now but it does get better :hugs: to you.
mishc 120 bucks to hire that is a rip off I wish I could send my hammock to all you guys just to see what I mean but then hey it may not work on everyone but wishful thinking hey addison likes her tummy too !!!

Evening all...just a quicky from me too.
Djf- :hugs: :hugs: I feel for ya hun I'm going through the same thing and I'm ready to pull my hair out!!! I don't know if you have tried Donnalix yet but it seems to be working with my DD. I'm also going to order one of those baby hammocks online as well to see if it helps. I was speaking to my Mum back in Canada and she said to lift bubs right arm...??? Suppose to bring up bubbles and she also said to lay bub on right side, I don't know if any of this works but I'll give anything a go!
Well it's off to round 6 of trying to settle DD for the night...GOD I NEED SLEEP!!!!!
Michelle
djf, :hugs: hope that things get a bit easier for you soon.
henrygirl, cant believe your little man is rolling both ways already. What a clever cookie.
Had the maternal & child health nurse come and do a home visit today. Joshua has put on 430g in 6 days  Couldnt believe it.
I also got my new breastpump in the mail today. I havent been able to get Josh back on the boob so he has been on formula and I have been expressing a few times a day and giving him that as well.
The last few times I have expressed though I have only gotten 15-20mls and that is from 15 mins on each boob. Does anyone know why my milk supply would have gone down so much (used to get 50mls)? Will continue to express every few hours in the next few days and hopefully it will pick up a bit :fingerscrossed:
Glad to hear that peoples bubbas seem to be putting on good amounts of weight. Hope all mums and babies are doing ok.
Hi guys.
Haven't gotten on much over last few days. Been pretty busy. Not really doing anything fun or interesting though unfortunately, just lots of busy type stuff
DjF - Big :hugs:. You poor darl, you've had such a hard time of things. As hard as it is it will get better. Get on here and whinge as often as you need to to vent, it normally helps me feel a bit better about things :p
mish - yay for big sleeps
HM - glad hayden returning to better timetable for ya.
amity - Last time waited till 6 weeks and will this time too (just to be safe infection wise). DH is already pretty toey and dropping little asides about being keen though and has a countdown running till 6 weeks post birth date  . I'm starting to become interested again now as well so will probably be good to go from 6 weeks. Hoping for a repeat of last time as although had a bit of soreness the first couple of times was more interested and easier to O (maybe why I was more interested  ) so would be pleased to repeat (sorry if TMI)
henry - Dev's rolled from back to tummy to back a couple of times too. DS1 was relatively slow to roll so was pretty shocked when he did, let alone since doing a few times. He also holds his head up to have a good old sticky beak at things but DS1 was same so that wasn't so surprising for me. He's so cute though as he brings his head up and will head butt me if I'm not turned towards him till I turn then he swings his head in and gives me kisses. Big sloppy open mouth ones but sooo adorable. Won't do to his daddy though so poor DH feels a bit unloved.
Hope everyone else is keeping well and all the munchkins are coming along nicely. Off to cook my dinner and then watch House (I love that show)

HM, I can't wait to meet you guys too but I have ages to wait!
djf, OMG, some people are ridiculous! Ignore them! I never got to my pre-pregnancy weight after DD so don't stress....after CS it takes time!:hugs:
Also with Monet, try gripe water like HM said...in a ottle with some cool boiled water (romm temp) or infacol is miraculous...I put it straight in DS mouth cos I'm BF but with DD I just used to put it in her bottle..watch out for the farties after tho, you might think shes gonna take off!
meegs, could just be you settling down? keep trying to feed him tho cos he can suck way more than you can pump
calm, it does get better! Am going to check out pics now...
amity, sounds like you're doing great!
camcat, DH loves House too!
Marc has managed to roll a few times too! Must be our clever Sept bubs! Yay...
Gonna go to bed now, feel like I'm fighting off a cold and hoping Marc doesn't get it...he's been real sleepy today so hope its just a growth spurt!

I went it to lay with her hoping she'd go back to sleep but no such luck...i got her up and made her a milo then she starting saying ear...hurt...so off to Dr today think she might have ear infection???
well must tend to the boy..

Hi All  hope every one is doing well
I have been awol for a little bit, as we have decided on a wedding date (8th june 08) and that has taken over my spare time!
All is going well with madeleine, she has been putting on plenty of weight. though ive been naughty and havent had her weighed last week or this week but i figure all is good as she is feeding well getting plenty of sleep and plenty of nappy changes - i guess we will see next week at our 6 week check up with paed. We had been going to the clinic the hosp runs but i found it a huge waste of time, the lady would just weigh her, then ask if i had any issues (answer always no) and then she would try to give me brochures that hosp already gave me, or try and tell me to join their parents group, i just didnt like her.
Madeleine slept in her own room and in her cot for the first time last night. I didnt like it much, she was out of sight and looked so small (for a change) in her cot. I did however after the 5.30am feed but her in the basinette back in our room!
good news to all that are getting some extra sleep lately :fingerscrossed: it keeps up for you.

hey girls
Once again, just a quick hi from me, Lucas is asleep and now sure how long that will last since he is on his own. Have been co-sleeping still. I kinda want to stop, but at the same time i dont. So not sure what to do yet.
Lucas slept from 10.30-5.30am, so the longest sleep ever.
Am going to the gym tonight, this time i have left 3 bottles of EBM as when i went on monday i only left one bottle and it wasnt enough. Lucas just wouldnt settle for DH the other night, so i hope tonight is better.
Oh i have started bleeding a little again, which is really sucky, its so annoying. What could be the reason? Has this happened to anyone else?

had our ultrasounds done today and both dd and ds look to be fine with no signs of spina bifida. boobies have totally settled down now and jack is sleeping really well he has stretched to 2 1/2- 3 hour feeds during the day today and night feeds he sleep about 4-5 hrs then another4-5 hrs some times with a small snack at about 2hrs depends really.
shirls: welcome back
amity: dd didn't roll until she was like 4-5 months old so yeah when jack done it at 12 days old i nearly died.
djf: hope you are feeling better today and bubs starts to help you out a bit and starts to behave they can be quite frustrating at times.
giggle: glad bubs is starting to settle a bit for you. nothing worse then having to deal with that.
gonna go sort something out for dinner. dh has had 2 weeks off and today was the first time he made me breakfst it was the 1st meal i didn;t have to prepare go men sh!t me some times he's spose to be helping me out instead it's like he is on holiday:hair:

camcat - thanks for the advice you gave ages ago to me about my oversupply of milk!
Calm - with the bottles you are leaving for lucas approx how many mls are in each? I've started to express some milk to keep for times like that but dont know how much the baby will need when it comes to a feed.
henrygirl - good news about the scans and your boobies!
Hello girls
Just quickly as I can hear him waking up. Had a very cranky day today, he just wouldn't settle again and wanting to feed all the time. Went to health nurse put on 160g seems to be going down again but she seemed to alright with it.
DJF- I know it's not much but here is a hug for you :hugs:...I wished I lived near by so I could just come and give you one in person as you really seem that you need it.
Henry- Yeah on the scans :smiliedance:...And I will see you tomorrow for coffee and a chat.
Got to go as Seb is calling again.

i just had a great idea, do the brisbane mums want to do a christmas meet some where?:reindeer::reindeer::reindeer::reindeer::rei ndeer::reindeer:
That sounds like a plan Henry, I would be in, Hoping that I don't have anything on that day already but you can count me in......Can't believe it will be Christmas in 67 days. ( Yes I counted them)
:xmastree::reindeer::xmastree::reindeer::xmastree: :reindeer:
Just had to use them...LOL
Hey guys.
Found out last night that DS1 is getting 6 teeth through! (4 molars and 2 upper canines). Explains why his naps/sleeps have been a bit shorter resulting in a sometimes grumpy little man. All in all he's doing really well as not upset much or often, just sometimes so guess I'm veryy lucky seeing as how he's getting bulk at once. Glad he's finally getting more teeth though as he hasn't got any new ones since he was around 8 or 9 months old so about time really.
Dev doing well too. Stretching sleeps out in evenings (does 4 -41/4 hr 1st stretch, 3 hr second but still waking after 1 hr with wind after resettling from that feed, but not ready for another feed for 3 hrs again) Going to start him on Infacol drops tonight though as they sorted it all out for DS1 and he's almost 1 month old now so figure should be all good (he's 4 weeks today)
Shirls - No worries :D. Hope it helped some. Definately helped things settle down quicker for me this time round, wish I would have done with DS1 also  . Oh well, at least I know for next time
Can't remember what else I was going to say for personals and still got lots to do anyway so better get off and go sort it all out
Hopefully will have time to chat more tomorrow

Meegs did you get the Swing pump?
Cause i rushed out & bought one have used it twice & went back to using my trusty Isis (manual) i found that with the swing if my booberellas were too full i wouldnt get as much ( very weird ) it was as though the suction wasnt strong enough, so i find my Isis better ,
also try having a warm shower before expressing & some have said to look at a photo of bubs to help with letdown.
Djf:hugs:
shirls, I express diff amounts...prob give 60ml lots a go that way theres no waste if bub just needs a little feed and then they can have 2 60ml=120ml if really hungry? Thats what I do
camcat, 6 teeth at once! WOW Godd Luck with that..DD was a bit of a monster when getting the bigger teeth. Hope hes good for you.
:xmas: We'll have to organise to catch up for a bit of a chrissie celebration??? :xmastree: Pity there isn't more Sept Mums in Perth chatting in here...hope you Brissy Mums have fun!
jcb, 67 days! That sounds so close....can't believe you counted
henry, Yay on the results....My DH was exact same, thought he was on a holiday! He did help a bit and did washing and dinner every night, now he's back at work tho has gone back to doing nothing! Reckons cos I'm home I can do..ummmm I am BF one and the other is a right ratbag who demands all my attention when It's not on the bub, then somewhere in there have to try sleep??? No wonder I'm coming down with a bit of a cold!!!
Night everyone, chat tomorrow!
Oh calm, Don't know what you know iykwim...but maybe DH was feeding Lucas too much? If he is stop start crying it's prob belly ache...I'm only saying cos my DH thinks cos he's crying hes gotta be hungry...doesn't realise it could be a nappy change needed or needs to burp so maybe try diff position in holding him etc....he's useless! hahaha
again, your prob all good with it, but just thought if he needed more than 125mls in like an hour or two that you were at the gym....he prob wasn't hungry prob just needed to burp or fart or nappy change?
Just ignore me if you think I'm being silly cos you know....xxx
Love the new pic btw, he looks so grown up!

I've started to express some milk to keep for times like that but dont know how much the baby will need when it comes to a feed.
!
the health nurse said babies are meant to need 150ml per kg per day.
for example if bub is 3kg he needs 450ml of milk a day.
so if you do 6 feeds in a 24hr period thats 75ml per feed. (450 divided by 6 )
so if bub weighed that much u would probably want to express 75ml or a bit over just incase.
thats the formula i was told anyway :)
however bub may have more at some feeds and less at others, just the 450 over the 24hr period.
so basically 150ml per kg per day divided by how many feeds u do a day is how much u will need to express , iykwim?
hope that makes sence and helps u out.

 Hi All,
Well the sleeping thing was short lived...I was up every 2 hours last night so I am soooo buggered today. I didn't drink enough water yesterday so that could have effected my milk supply & I was a bit slack with the bedtime routine as I kept Maddy out in the living room to do her last feed as I wanted to watch tv oh and I only gave her one dose of Donnalix yesterday so it was probably my fault:fingerscrossed: that she'll have a better night tonight.
Mish- Yep orange strip outfit has giraffe on it, it's such a cute outfit but when I go out people think she's a boy.
:xmastree: Chrissie get together sounds good to me:xmastree:
So Maddy's actually asleep now so I might go for a nap myself. Have a good weekend Ladies!

hey all
Just a quick hello from me, as Lucas is stirring.
It was a bit of a bad night for sleeping last night, as i tried to put Lucas in his own bed, well in our room still, and he didnt sleep long and then i brought him into our bed. He was pretty unsettled all night. I dont mind sleeping with him, but i guess one day he should learn to sleep on his own. I shouldnt complain though as he mostly sleeps ok on his own during the day.
Am bleeding again, slight cramping too, i guess this could be AF now, sucky since i am fully breastfeeding  I really hope its not, but i guess thats better than there being something wrong huh?

Hi all thought I would log in to tell you guys that addison slept from 7pm I woke her for feed at 1am and then she slept till 6.15am feed then slept till 10am I feel like a new woman.:smiliedance: she has been doing some nights 7pm till4am no feeds in between so just loving this phase at the moment.Took both my girls to the mall today to get some xrissy shopping done and Im pleased to say we survived so dids dads wallet and we spent more time playing with the toys than buying any Ill have to go by myself I think.I want to be organized this year.
On a sad note for me:crying: my nana died so will be going to her funeral on wed,I think Im just so shocked that she actually passed away even though she was in her eighties, but she wasnt really sick just very lonely since my poppy died.
Have to travel two hours down there will take addison to actual funeral but will be leaving sienna with a friend of mine who lives down there as I dont think she would cope having to sit still and be quiet at the same time especially at a funeral.
Labour day here tomorrow and we are clearing some land we bought joy of joys oh well better go love to all

Hi all
Havent been on for a while - things been a little crazy.
Went and visited my sister for the weekend - her little bubba is cute, was born last friday. She has the cutest little cry too - not full chested roar like Monet!:D
Hope you all had a great weekend too? Monet has settled a little - was anticipating her being a horror while away but she was great.
Anybody believe in the growth spurt theory? Ie when they are having one they are unsettled and very trying? Well - i think she was having one - as well as wind, she is even feeding a lot slower now where as before she was like miss piggy! She also isnt crying so much, thank the Lord!(mind you, 11 days is a big growth spurt! She fit into some clothes last week but now they are almost too short for her!).
Will try post some funny photos later.
Thanks for the hugs too everyone indeedy last week and the week before i really needed them!

Hi Ladies
Well DS2 is still not sleeping well during the day. I am wrapping and putting him in the cot within the hour or when showing tired signs, but then he carries on with non emotional stop start cries that can go on forever and doesn't sleep. Rocking/Patting/holding in arms doesn't seem to do any good - he is still wide awake all the time. Any ideas??

hi all, well dh came home looking like the chesheer cat . he got the job:smiliedance::smiliedance::smiliedance: he starts in 2 weeks which is so great no more self employment cr@p. and the good thing is it's 5 mins down the road but he will be on the road most of the day but thts means less fuelfor his car and longer hours over time moore $$$$$$
nmummy - sorry to read about your nanna.
HM - i read up to 1 kilo a month is good (i really had no idea what sort of weight was good or not!) when i went on thursday Monet had put on 410 grams which they said was good for 2 weeks.
Superbaby - i have had a mountain of trouble getting Monet to sleep during the day - ive made it a point only to hold her if she is screaming distressed - any other time i rock her in the bassinette, wrapped (which you are doing) i also gave her a dummy. I was never interested in using one - and still only use it as a last resort - it helped calm her - with sucking on it, it also helped her for some reason to bring up wind. Dont get me wrong - it doesnt stay in her mouth long - she spits it out, but when its in it often does the trick.
If it has been a really long time between sleeps i still just sit and push her back and forward in the bassinette with a muslin cloth over the top - so she cant see anything and get distracted, i also sit behind so sh cant see my face.
One thing i have always noticed - unless your baby falls 100% fully asleep in your arms - if you try get them to sleep while holding them then put them down it unsettles them and you have to start the process all over again. So maybe unless your son is very distressed - a little less of the arm settling may help.
You may find it helps to have noise like the kettle, dishwasher and tv on all at the same time, seems to settle some babies. (im probably telling you things here you already know!)
I sit her typing this - and Monet hasnt been asleep for quite a few hours - sometimes i just have to leave her in the bassinette and if she has a scream - hope that she screams herself out! (she also needs an extraordinary amount of nappy changes - and always lets us know!!)
Henry girl - yay for the new job - pass on the congrats to your dh! The security of knowing a bit extra $$$ is coming in is such a stress reliever!
Just thought id say - i dont think im going to be able to take on the venture of breast feeding - unfortunately my supply never came back up and is now pretty much gone. Maybe 2 ml per day if im lucky.
So DF and i console ourselves - at least she got some colostrum and some breastmilk. Im also goin to try the s26 anti reflux formula and see how that goes - if it is better for M - aparrantly it is a thicker formula.
henrygirl, congrats to your hubby on the new job.
djf, glad to hear that Monet has settled down a bit. Looking forward to seeing more pics.
haydensmummy, hope all goes well at the health nurse today.
amity, yay on the 6.5 hours. Josh only sleeps 3 hours tops.
nmummy, sorry to hear about your nana :hugs:
Well hubby is back at work today and tomorrow and then has another week off. Josh has slept most of the morning and DD has been busy playing and watching cartoons, so it has been pretty easy so far. Also helps that DH and I did all the housework yesterday.
Everything going really great here.
DjF im glad things are getting bettr for you and I know what you mean about the roar EJ has the loudest cry I have ever herd.
superbaby :hugs: to you EJ went through a period where he wasnt sleeping during the day and all he did was cry it was horrible I found putting him on my chest and firmly patting him on the back until he burped was the only thing that hepled but it was horrible to here him cry other then that im actuall not much help at all sorry hopefully you find something that works for you soon.

Hey everyone,
Hope you are all good.
D i am so sorry breastfeeding didn't work out for you :hugs: Are you ok?
Am getting about 6 hours straight sleep from Lucas at night, from 10.30-4.30. Its nice, i can almost function well then. After another feed, we go to sleep again till about 8ish, sometimes later. That is still in with us though. I need to work on getting him to sleep on his own at night. He is mostly during the day. I do enjoy having him sleep with us though.
Am getting some big smiles from him, but am yet to catch one on camera. He makes sounds too like he is trying to giggle, he really is so cute lol.
Finally finished bleeding again, i really hope it wasnt AF, i dont want to be getting pg anytime soon, if at all actually. Best we be so careful huh.
Have joined the gym last week, am going to a circuit class tonight, and then two pump classes and a yoga class on a saturday. DH is enjoying his time alone with Lucas i think. Last time i went to the gym he didnt need to be fed while i was out which is good, since i just fed him before i left. I express first thing in the morning on the day i go, and get about 150ml.
Hope you are all good.
D i suggested in the other thread a meet with Hollie if you would be interested. Is there anyone else in Sydney?

awesome
djf, sorry that breastfeeding didnt work out for you :hugs:
calm, glad to hear all is going well with Lucas.
amity, I was starting to wonder when you were going to post some pics. EJ is just beautiful.
Well my first day with both kids on my own is over. Josh slept the whole day and only woke up for feeds and DD behaved reasonably well and had a 2 hour nap this afternoon. So very happy with it all. Doubt it will continue to go this well, they'll probably both be shockers for me tomorrow
nmummy, Sorry bout your Nanna, hugs to you!:hugs:
meegs, that is awesome they behaved so well...jealous!
djf, what makes you think only 2ml? Expressing is no indication of what bub gets....I thought my supply had gone with DD cos she would squirm etc at the boob and I thought maybe none was coming out but she was squirming from wind....the only way to build supply is to keep attaching them and let them suck and suck....and if you can squeeze some out of your boob with your fingers then you know theres milk so let bub suck.
If you're just expressing and don't wanna feed just ignore me...ditto if you've already made up your mind...I just thought i'd offer some advice incase you wanted to keep trying  Good Luck any way you go with it!
superbaby, djf offered good advice...maybe, if its stop start crying give her some infacol with feeds or some cool boiled water with gripe water...stop start crying is usually pain in the belly or just uncomfortable....? HTH
HM, Hope Hayden had a good viit with the nurse....
Henry, yay for the job for DH! :smiliedance:
Amity, EJ is beautiful!
Well, Marc my angel child slept from 8:30pm-ish till 5am :smiliedance: What a good boy! The 2 nights previous he slept from 8pm - 3am but last night was great...hope he keeps this up...I may stay sane if he does:laughing:
It's my birthday next month and Mum says to me today...I got you a present but I have to tell you now what it is cos it starts tomorrow...she bought me art lessons for us to do. I said, when is it? how can i go with /Marc and shes like...leave him with DH, and i said 6:30 - 8:30pm is when he bulks up on feeds for bed so she says to bring him??? How can I do art when I;m feeding him? So then i said, I'm not arty why would i want it anyway? and she goes she teaches all types so i thought you could do some abstract...so then i'm dropping her off and she goes "i've always wanted to do this" and i said, well i'm glad you do...i don't really, i'm not very arty and she was like, well i've already organised it.
Anyway, i phoned her just before to say i really don;t want to, it means i would have to look somewhat presentanle every Tues night and try and do art while feeding Marc, a bit of a waste and she says don't worry i don't want you to do it anyway trying to make me feel all guilty....:banghead:
A bit unfair!
Anyway, sorry for the rant just had to share...sorry for the she said, i said too...hope it makes sense?
Anyway...hope everyone is good, better go feed the boy again and be a Mum for a few hours, hahaha
xxx Mish
Misch - 2 ml is the whole day! Nothing comes out anymore, not even with a squeeze. I do have a slow let down, but the effects of the antibiotics and pco dont give me a supply. Im yet to determine if we should do motillium (no guarantee for me that milk supply will come back up) but did imagine i would be able to breastfeed. The same thing has happened to all the women in my family - no milk supply and drs never determined why for them. My sister is breastfeeding her 2nd - and she said that it is very different this time around and even feels different.
And - sounds like your mum bought art lessons for herself - not you! Sometimes parents can just get things so wrong - and excell at laying the guilt trip! Id like to think im not ever going to behave like that! My mum is a pro at it so often!
Calm - know how you feel about number 2! We are the same but have decided we wont discuss it any more, untill we think we are ready to talk about having another. We have enough to concentrate on now!
Grrr - have to get ready and go hand deliver change of address for electoral roll - dont feel like doing anything! M only just got off to sleep first time today -despite tring to stick to our routine (which works much better at night - prob just because she is actually tired!). I hate voting anyway!
djf, bummer...that sucks! Sorry for the whole speel avove, just wasn't sure on all the details....hope you're ok with whatever ends up happening...if it doesn't work tho, it doesn't work. Just don't get too emotional about it (as hard as it is) cos it sounds like you've given it a good go, so don't let anyone make you feel bad in your decision, yeah!?!?
bbl, gotta fly!
Evening girls
Sorry I haven't read any posts as of yet. I have had a very eventful 24hrs.
After I feed and put Sebastian to bed last night he woke up a couple of minutes later choking and gasping for air, which total freaked me out  so we went up to the hospital, he was admitted over night but he is alright now, they seem to think its Reflux and because he was laying on his back some must of been blocking his air way cause he didn't do it again the whole time we were there. But if it happens again then we have to go straight back up. :fingerscrossed: it doesn't happen again.
Well I am very tired  didn't get any sleep at all last night plus I have a house inspection tomorrow so I have to continue cleaning.
jcb, How freaky!!!
I wonder that too, I sleep Marc on his tummy anyway, cos he sleeps better like that...I think it's a wind thing...anyway, I have always wondered why they chnaged it all around. Years ago, as in when I was a bub, Mum said the midwives told you to sleep babies on their tummies, at least thats what she was told...so back then it was the norm, then all the SIDS stuff started becoming more and more known and talked about and now they say it's bad...but I have always found it strange as what if they do get reflux or something, I would think it would be more of a risk on their back in choking etc???
It's puzzled me for a while now.
I watched DD and DS a couple of times before doing it at night, but they turn their head when they want to change sides so I have no concern about them laying face down into the bed, but even to me, and this is just my thoughts, suffocating by laying face into the bed would be rare cos if they are laying on a flat bed, no pillow or cushyness under them, then they should be able to breathe even if they do turn their head to face into the bed...but choking, that would freak me...especially if bub is in another room, cos if they did kinda cough and some spew was there and they sorta choked, you wouldn't necc hear them...
Sorry for the rambling there...just curious on other peoples thoughts maybe? Does anyone else wonder about that topic, why it changed and what their thoughts are???
I might do a thread actually!
So, no new posts to comment on so I'm off to bed....hopefully a good sleep ahead of me...and hope everyone else has a good sleeps too!

mishlc, sounds frustrating about your mum. Dont you just hate when people try to lay a guilt trip on you.
I have read about how they used to sleep babies on their tummies back in the day. I would be too worried to do it myself (even though as you say, they are sleeping on a flat surface). Joshua seems to like sleeping on his side and sometimes on his back. He does sleep on my chest sometimes on his tummy and he sleeps really well that way but Im just not game enough to let him sleep on his tummy without me in the room.
jcb, happy to hear Sebastian is all ok. Hope that it doesnt happen again.
Goodluck with your inspection today, we have one tomorrow so will be spending today getting everything in order (as much as I can with a toddler in the house  ).
Well Josh slept from 8pm-1am last night, so yay 5 hours. Before that the longest he had slept straight was 3 hours so am very happy about that. Unfortunately DD decided it was fun to get up at 5:30 this morning so I think I will be very tired by this afternoon. DH offered to stay up with the kids but he has been working the last 2 days and had to do weapons training all day yesterday so I told him to have a sleep in (plus he has been helping me every night with the feedings for bubs).
My baby bonus goes in my account tomorrow and my family tax benefit has gone up an extra $130 so that will come in very handy.
Had Josh weighed yesterday and he has put on another 180g in the last 6 days. MCHN was happy with that considering he put on 430g last week. So he is now at 3980g (8lb8oz).
Hope everyone is well :)

Hey girls
Hope you are all ok.
Mish Lucas sleeps much better on his belly too, but have been too scared to put him down like that while i am asleep. I do it during the day when i am right there. He can turn his head, but it does scare me that he will get stuck face down :o but i am getting better lol.
Am still co-sleeping at night, and during the day he sleeps ok on his own, so i think we will keep doing it that way for now. Who knows when he will ever sleep in his cot that we bought, and his nice room

hey all
jcb glad to hear seb is ok, hope it doesn't happen again.
the doc told me hayden has a bit of reflux and i put his cradle on a slight angle which seems to help.
love the new pic henry, gorgeous!
misch, for reflux babies it is recommended their cot matress is slightly lifted at one end so it helps keep the milk down and they don't choke.
studies show that the # of babies who have passed from sids have lowered since babies started sleeping on their backs more,
however i still think mum knows best and if your bub has strong enough neck muscles to move his head side to side thats great, whatever helps u both get a good nights sleep i say
hayden doesn't like sleeping on his tummy.
he hates tummy time and his neck isn't very strong,
he just seems to smother his face to the floor :(
however i don't give him nearly enough tummy time :shame:
i should really start doing that more,
how often does every1 else do tummy time??
been really frustrated with dh the past few days.
i don't think he realizes just how much i do.
when i ask him to do the tiniest thing for me of a night he says he's been at work all day and is trying to relax, he says i've had all day at home he hasn't
like i get to do things i want all day! i have a baby to look after, not that i'm complaining, i love it,
but just want him to realize how much i do, iykwim??
anyway gonna try do some cleaning, if bub will let me!

haydensmummy: jack has a lot of tummy time pretty muchall day time sleeps are on his tummy and hehas a little play time on his tummy i found if you put different toys infront of them or rattle different noises above them they tend to look around try this.hows the expressing going also if you express while heis feeding the let down may come down easier or express just after a feed . it should come out like a shower head does also hand expres a little before putting the pump on:thumbsup:hope this helps. oh yeah you photo looks fantasic.yeah my dh can be like that at times too but he know i will turn into who he call sikes not a pretty site:devil6:
jcb: hope seb is doing well.sorry you had to have that scare:hugs:i would elevate his mattress like haydensmummy said
djf: ignore all coments of breast is best cause not all of us can do it. look at it this way atleast now you can share the feeding reponsability with your partner which means more time for you to adjust to being the best mummy you can, which i am sure you are doing as if you tryed to feed the poor little thing probally would be hungry all the time ad n you would turn into a total wreck:hair: what formular are youu gonna put bubs on if you dont mind me asking? we foung nestle nan gold worked best for us when i had to stop feeding as my milk dried up at 6 months. hope this helps.
meegs:woohoo on the night time sleep jack is feeding 8pm-12/2am-4/6am depending on the feed the 4/6 feed i normally just pop him on and go back to sleep until dd wakes us all up around 6:30
wekk untrasounds all can back normal:smiliedance:and i will be back at docs in 3 weeks for 6week check up my goodness time flys.
jcb im glad Seb is ok it must have given you such a fright you poor thing. I agree with the others I would raise his mattress a tiny bit we have done this with EJ as he was vomiting and choking after every feed and its seemed to settle down now he sleeps much better and so do I.
Mishlc EJ hates being on his tummy he has a strong neck and wont actually put it dwn to rest he just wants to hold it up and cry. We usually put him to bed on his back however today I have put him on his side just to see if he sleeps longer that way.
Haydensmummy hope you sort things out with your DP soon mine is the same he just thinks I have a lazy day at home all day twiddling my thumbs and watching day time tv so so fustrating but in saying that he still pitches in with bubs even in the middle of the night but I still get the narky little comments.
Henrygirl YAY for everything coming back ok for your kiddies thats great and tell me about time flying I cant believe our bubs are practically 3 weeks old allready.
Well EJ didnt have a good nigt last night he ended up in bed with us twice I think he had a belly ach though poor little mite.
My bleeding has come back today it was almost completly gone and its back and bright red does anyone know if thi is normal I just want it to go for good.
It wouldnt be my period would it surely its way to early for that!!!
Well best be off have a good day ladies.

henry - i try the toys around him and do tummy time on his play mat but he still doesn't want a bar of it, i even lay down low and talk to him to try get him to turn his head to my voice but he just cracks it, i guess i'll just keep persisting.
expressing is going well now :) i expressed a full bottle in 5mins the other day!
i talked to my friend and apparently i was expressing wrong, when i got a let down i stopped pumping and thought it would just keep coming out, woops :o
amity the hossy told me to call them or go to a doc if my bleeding ever came back heavier , do u have any pain??
i think the only reason they say that is if something might be left in u like clots or a bit of the placenta its not good, also if it smells there could be infection.
hope the bleeding goes away soon for u.
gotta fly
henrygirl, thats great that the scan results came back fine.
Love the new pic.
haydensmummy, hope your DH starts to understand how much you do around the house each day. I can imagine it would be very frustrating.
Love your new pic btw.
amity, you should maybe go and see your doc about the bleeding, bright red can mean something may have been left behind when you gave birth, as haydensmummy said. Hope that all is ok.
Hope EJ is better today, not nice when they have tummy pains and there isnt much we can do to help.

amity: i hope you aren't over doing it. that can sometimes be associated with the bright red.this might be tmi but is it bright like cut yourself of more of deeper colour like with your period? it is normal for it to come back when it has nearly gone this happened to e with dd. but check with gp. or give the midwifes a call at the hospital you had bubs at they may be able to give you some info if you can't get to a gp soon atleast to rest your mind.
haydensmummy: glad the expressing is going well.
jack is now 4.5kilos the pig porker but to look at him you wouldn't know he is so lanky and long he is wearing some 000 clothes now:laughing:they are a little big but at least i will get my moneys worth:D i only bought like 2 0000 out fits the rest wear jumpsuit t-shirt type they still fit but all in 1's are too short.
Hey guys.
Fairly quick one from me as going to feed Dev soon and go to bed for the night.
Went to CHN yesterday and Dev now weighs 4.88kg so still putting on weight (the little porker ). Nothing else interesting happening here though, just busy stuff
Couple of quick personals (will hopefully do others later but doing these before I forget)
mish - the reason they switched to recommending back sleeping is because they found that babies have a reflex that allows them to swallow vomit etc when they're on their backs (which eventually they grow out of) but this reflex isn't as efficient/effective when babies are on their sides or tummies. Aparently studies showed that babies had less difficulty on their backs as they'd either swallow the stuff or if they had extra trouble would cough to remove it and they didn't end up aspirating it because they couldn't put their faces into it. (what I was told when asked anyway :D )
amity - I had that the other day. Very frustruating but only lasted a day or so then went back to just the clearish/yellowish discharge. If you're worried you could call someone though.
HM - DS1 hated tummy time too. DS2 doesn't seem to mind it so much. My tips for encouraging it are while he's littler, do tummy time on your chest (ie - lean back or lay on the floor and put Hayden on your chest - he still gets the benefits of lifting his head but generally won't get as upset) and then when he's a bit bigger put a pillow or rolled up towel under his chest and arms so he doesn't face plant quite so much. Eventually it won't bother him so much and as long as your giving him some it's all good.
Hopefully back tomorrow for rest of personals

Lucas fits some of his " real" clothes now, eg jeans etc, 000. He is getting so big. He must be 5kg now. He was 4.7 two weeks ago
Will post a pic shortly
Goodmorning all I have just been able to put EJ down he has been clingy all morning crying when I put him in his bassinett and stopping as soon as I pick him up he is sleeping in his bouncer now :fingerscrossed: he stays that way for at least an hour although he is stiring now ok im back just had to pop the dummy back in I hope it does the trick.
No there he goes ill be back soon
ok im one hand typing with baby asleep in arms ohh well at least he is sleeping.
The bleeding had almost stopped again now its like a bright pink colour not that deep dark red I was getting at first if it gets worse or I start getting cramps ill head over to the doctor.
Henrygirl I actually think the bleeding started again because I went for a 5k walk first one since having EJ so maybe I should giv e it another week or so.
EJ is still in 0000 most of the time although the only 0000 I have are wondersuits I cant wait until he can fit into some of his really cute things shouldnt be too long now.
Calm cant wait to see some pics Lucas is just so cute.
When do babies start to smile???? I think EJ is starting too but im not sure if its too early or not when we talk to him he looks as though he is smiling at us.
Im going to lodge my medicare form today to get the baby bonus and the family tax benifit and stuff just a question where you have to estimate your annual income what happens if you under estimate a little and you get over paid do you just have to pay it back or do you get into serious trouble its just that DP had a casual job and his hours can vary dramatically one week he can earn $100.00 from it and the next he can earn $350.00 so im not sure what it will be im worried that ill get it wrong and get into trouble I mean if im over paid I dont mind paying it back I just dont want to be taken to court or anything like that.
Well EJ is back in his bassinett :fingerscrossed: he stays there I best go get some stuff done while I can

we have started to toilet train holly. now when she does poos she comes over straight away and starts pulling on her shorts nd i ask if shes done a poo and she says yeah. am very proud of her now we have to get her to do wees on her potty .
i have started my weight loss program. i am very anti diet i and eating really healthy and drinking plenty of water. so :fingerscrossed: i will be into pre jack clothes my goal is to get into my pre holly clothes by christmas/new year i am currentyly in size 12 but all pre holly clotes are size6/8 can't wait to get weighed at my 6 week check. i don't own scales plus i find you are more excited when you see a difference.
hope every one has a great day.

Im another one who is typing one-handed today, so just a quick message from me.
Going shopping on my own this afternoon, DH is looking after the kids. Going to get some Christmas shopping done and spend some money on myself too :D
amity, I always over-estimate our income because then when tax time comes you get a nice little surprise in your bank account.
If you do happen to under estimate they will just take it of your family tax benefit supplements that come in at tax time. You wont get in trouble for it, the money just has to get paid back
Babies usually start smiling between 4-6 weeks, but all bubs are different they may be real now.
EJ is just so adorable.
Hope everyone has a good day :)

Hello,
Its quiet in here today everyone must be off attending to their little bundles.
Ej's day continued to be crappy yesterday poor little mite just wanted to be cuddled and fed.
Henrygirl I think EJ is going through a growth spurt at the moment and he ECHN said that at 3 weeks give or take a few days there will be a day where he just wants to feed and that day was yesterday for us I think.
EJ is now fitting into some of his 000 clothes not all of them but some of the smaller suits he is he is growing so so quickly he is such a little porker.

Hope you are all well.

hi all
amity, looks like I will have that 3 week growth spurt to look forward to in the next week, such fun lol.
calm, very cute pics of Lucas.
Not much going on here today, just went and did a grocery shop. Had so much fun shopping on my own yesterday and bought myself some new clothes for Summer, I love the fact that alot of the stuff out this season is loose fitting around the tummy. Also got some new bedding stuff and a few things for the kids.
Have only lost 6kg so far since having Josh, so am still 3.5kg off my pre-preg weight and 17kg off my goal weight. Long way to go yet. Must get DH to hide the scales until Josh is 6 weeks old otherwise I am too tempted to hop on them every day.
Best be off to go and express some more boobie juice for Joshy.
Have a good day everyone.
calm, he looks like such a big boy! (as in grown up)
amity, love the pics too, gorgeous...
Went to photographer the other day to look at pics, my goodness they're just beautiful. It was so hard to pick ones to buy. It was really expensive too but the lady said we could have some free! They do a 10 page album special but we're getting 14...so thats great, as each page costs $100+....The big wall pic is $470 and then we're getting 4x 8"x10" which are $180 each!!!!
Like I said....very expensive but they're really good! I thought DH would have a heart attack over the price but he was cool about it and I was the one spinning out!
With the 8x10's tho we're gonna scan em' and copy em' for family...at that price, what do they expect? If they were cheaper we'd buy heaps but $180 for a photo is quite pricey!
Lucky he's a cutie or I would've passed, hahaha
The ones we chose for the album they're going to post on their webpage and give us a password to tell people to look at so when we know we'll tell ya so you can all have a look!
Hope everyone is well....

hi guys, thanks for all your kind thoughts on my grans passing was a nice day for the funeral etc we took addison to the funeral and left dd1 with some friends as we sit down for the service everything is soooo quiet and then addison lets one go and fills her pants well you could have heard a pin drop after that I didnt know whether to laugh or cry.addison just smiled!!dh was giggling quietly beside me Oh dear.
Anyways my big girl has slept from 7pm to 6am two nights in a row in her own bedroom gosh I felt so sad putting her in there but was nice to go in to her grining away at 6am.so:fingerscrossed: this carries on!!!
yay on the pics mishcl sounds like they turned out great you will have to show us I know it is so hard to resist any photo of your kids.I want to get family ones done when addison is a bit bigger.

meegs yay on the post preggy weight loss Ive been naughty Im still below what I was when I got preggy which is great but Im like a horse while breastfeeding have to eat half the refrigerator.
well open home here for me today my house is sparkling now just have to take the kids out so that it stays that way!!!
nmummy im glad that it was a nice funeral and how funny about addison filling her pants right in the middle and if she is as noisy as EJ then I bet it was loud. We took EJ to a wedding last weekend and he decided to wake up and spit it right in the middle I had to leave and feed him they can be so unpredictable ohh well thats just the way it is I guess.
EJ slept really well last night it was fantastic I have been sick so I really needed the rest he slept 7pm till12.30am then 1.30am till 4.30am then 5am till 9am not quite as good as 7pm till 6am but we are working on it.
Well he is calling for boobie now so I best go and deliver.

hey girls
Hope you and your bubbas are all doing well.
Just a quick hi from me as usual.
Don't you hate it when people question the way you do things with your children :banghead: We have the same group of people we have social events with occasionally who all have children. And the 3 mothers were telling me i was doing the wrong thing, eg oh you are feeding him too much (i demand feed) oh you shouldn't co-sleep cos it going to make bad habits for him. I do these things because they feel right for me, and they work for us. It just upsets me when people say i am doing the wrong thing. I am doing the best i can :gloomy:
Hi girls
Wow hasn't it been quite in here lately.
Well we have just had Gastro :barf: go through the whole house last week, started on Wednesday with DD2 got it then by Saturday everyone but me got it, even little Seb got it. We are all good now but I really don't want to wash any more bedding for a few days.
Calm- Just want to say that you are doing a great job and never let anyone else tell you different :shame: . Who cares what those other chicks said you know within yourself that LJ is a happy little boy. So try not to let it get to you....:)

Elizabeth is doing well. We've had a few nightmarish days but she is a pretty good baby in all.
We passed our 6 week check up today. :)
Hellooo ladies. I am new to the September thread...i usually am on the August one...my bub was due in August but ended up being 2 weeks late. Just read through and it was nice to hear about others at the same stage as me. Ryder is the youngest by a whole week in the august mums and they all seem so far ahead.
He is 7weeks old now and STILL wont sleep during the day which is exhausting and frustrating. does anyone else have this trouble????
oooh and was reading about all of your weightlosses...good job! I lost about 13kg without trying but i am now still 4kg off my pre-preggo weight and about another 4 off what i want to be....i blame my boobs...they are huge...must weigh at least four kg!!!!!
are there any perth mums on here...........???????????

hi hey megs! welcome!
my little boy is 7wks old as well.
i had trouble for a bout a wk with hyaden not sleeping during the day, as did a lot of other mums in here.
it stopped on friday though and since then he has slept and fed all day , then had a big cranky session in the late arvo b4 sleeping most the night.
i thought it was a growth spurt , but now i think the sleeping most the day is a growth spurt to, so i don't know
maybe its just something they go thru b4 a growth spurt??
i finally weighe myself the other day, i was really scared cause i was positive i'd put on weight since i've had hayden, but i was 1kg under my pre pregnancy weight!! yah!!!!!!! i think it must be because of the strict diet i was on during pregnancy due to gd.
hi every1 else
jess- our bubs are born on the same day!! i am hoping that he will sleep well tonight...so i can get some rest...and then i will start again tomorrow trying to get him to sleep in the day...i usually start off positive after a good nights sleep...(4hrs is a good night...oh how times have changed)...it probably doesnt help that i have an upset tummy today AND went to the dentist..(never fun!)
oooh he is quiet...hope he is asleep...always sleeps for other people...never me. Does anyone let their babies cry to see if they will fall asleep??? how long would you leave them for...i can usually go about 1 minute before i feel bad....what are your thoughts on it anyone!

Hi Megs welcome to our thread.... Ryder sounds like he is doing the same thing as my mates little bub...I suggested to her that maybe her milk mighten be as full so I told her to get some RLT to try as they make your milk fuller. She did this and with in three days she noticed as difference in bub as she was sleeping more as she wasn't as hungry all the time. It worth a try. I take them.:)
Jess- Love the new pic of Hayden.
Hows your cold going feeling any better. I was thinking we should make a day and go to Chermside and do some Christmas shopping :reindeer: or Christmas looking :xmas: oh and That means you too Henry...
Well I am off to bed now, Just did 40mins on the bike, :yelclap: need to loose some weight so I can fit into this great dress for hubby's work Christmas party...I will take a photo of the dress and post when I get it off Layby...

hey girls, hope you and bubbas are all good. Yep Amity i did pretty much tell her to stick it yesterday, so i feel better now :D
Lucas doesn't go down for his night sleep till about 10.30/11pm after we have a shower together (he loves the shower and totally hates baths, he screams the whole time in the bath) then he doesn't wake up until 4.30/5ish, so i get a good sleep.
I am loving co-sleeping, i like cuddling him to sleep. During the day he sleeps on his own, and if mummy and daddy need special cuddles he will sleep on his own for a little while. I don't mind doing it, its working for us, so its all good.
His eyes are changing from blue too, i guess they will end up brown like mine. Also his poo has changed to green, but i read on a website that breastfed babies poo can change colour all the time and its normal.
Oh and i started bleeding again, not red but only brown, so annoying :banghead: if it doesn't stop by tomorrow i might go to the dr.

oh how much does everyones bubba weigh? Lucas is about 5.2kg now. Still in infant huggies, but i just bought a box of crawler 6-11kg, so i guess he should fit them soon.

oh can you believe some of our bubbas are 2 months old already  Lucas is next Thursday, its gone too fast for me. Will taking him for his two month needles next Thursday.
MIL arrives Friday for a whole week, am so scared she is going to try to tell me what to do with Lucas, and if she does it isn't going to be pretty thats for sure :devil6:
Did you see this (http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i177/doula_2006/IMG_4848.jpg) photo already? I love it. Now i am losing weight i dont mind being in photos.
Calm the last stint of EJ's sleep is in bed with us he sleeps so much better in there he was only sleeping from 5 till about 6 in his bassinett but sleeps 5 till at least 8.30am when in with us its great and I dont mind doing it at all hey I say whatever works.
Im still bleeding and its been 4 weeks on thursday since I had EJ its definatly getting lighter but its annoying because it keeps coming and going so just when I think its completly gone it comes back.
Im not sure how much EJ weighs now its been 2 weeks since we had him weighed but I have an appointment with the echn on Thursday so I will see then im thinking probable atleast 4.2kg he is pilling on the weight he little porker he feels so much more heavy.
Calm tell your mother in law to stick it also well maybe do it a bit nicer then that & congrats on the weight loss you are doing such a good job

Thanks Amity, i needed that, i KNOW im doing a good job :D
I love snuggling up to Lucas in bed, and hey he still sleeps on his own during the day for maybe a few hours sometimes less, but he doesn't need to sleep for too long during the day anyway.
Have been doing a boxing class a few times a week at the gym and i love it, its great cardio and all over toning.
I leave EBM for DH to feed Lucas cos always he wants to be fed when i go out, but last night for the first time he didn't need to be fed while i was gone for 1 1/2 hours he just slept :smiliedance: I always feed him right up until i leave the house.
OK, I did a big post before and lost it! Damn...doesn't this computer know I'm on precious time here....I feel like I'm a bidder in that bank Ad where they're all bidding on more time
heymegs, I'm in Perth and so is camcat! I just did a meet out in Freo the other week...bummer you missed it.
I love going out there so will have to meet ya one day!
Oh, yeah, My DD hardly ever slept in the day but she did used to sleep all night. She would sleep from anout 6pm-4am soemtimes 6am so I never worried too much about the lack of sleep in the day. But I think you said he doesn't sleep long at night either???
I have a theory that if they are tired, they'll sleep. I don't think there is much you can do about it, in a sense of going to a Dr cos they can't really tell you anything....
Are you BF? I know DD slept longer stints etc when she went to formula, cos it does fill them up more...not saying you should do that, but breast milk is not very filling so they do generally (generally meaning most, not all) sleep shorter periods when BF. Some people are lucky, I was cos DD slept all night even when I was BF and just luckily continued when I switched to formula.
Just saying, maybe do a small formula feed at night to fill bub up a bit if you really want him to get a longer sleep. I am think I will possibly do that in a few weeks.....just a 60ml feed or something to bulk him up for the night sleep.
It might work, it might not....the down side is that formula can play up on their tums too so if you do decide to try that, be prepared for a couple of upset nights where he has a bit of a achy belly with wind etc but it should settle once he gets used to it.
Anyways, sorry for the rambling, just telling ya what I tried...like I said it may or may not work???
calm, I know weveryone on here has said it but DON'T listen to all those out there critisising...it's hard but we all just need to learn to block out the negatives...
It's especially hard for 1st time Mums too I reckon, cos you are really trying to feel your way around it and somewhat look to people for advice etc, which everyone is only too happy to give, but when you find something that works and then someone tells you it's wrong you do start to question it cos you don't really know....I'll give you a hint...if it works for you, then it's the right way! Of course this does not count for all those crazies out there that harm their kids...but co-sleeping and sleeping on their tummy (which is what I do) is not bad for your child at all...any more than formaula is or controlled crying! It's what you feel comfortable with and what your baby is happiest with.
I think your sanity and bubs having good sleeps etc is more important than what a "rule book" or whatever recommends.
You stick to what your doing if it works!
henry, Yay for DH!
I started taking RLT again after (Michelle?) recommended it. My supply has definately boosted. I pulled my boob away from Marc the other morning and it literally squirted out like a little fountain, poor bugger was gulping his little head off trying to get it all down, he dare not waste a drop the little piggy
Anyway, I can now express a decent amount where before I could only get 30ml if I was lucky without my boob being full as...then I can get 100-120ml, can't seem to get more unless I sit there for like an hour but I don't have time so I need it to come out quickly.
Don't know if anyone esle knows but ddrinking water actually helps with the let down, so when your expressing drink lots of water and it should come out alot easier???
nmummy, Thats funny about bub pooing during the service, hope everyone had a sense of humour about it. Hope your all coping ok with the loss! xxx
So, on Sat night Marc my angel boy slept 8hrs..I think...I was a little confused cos we had the whole daylight saving time change, but I put him down about 10pm (taking into acount the time change...real time it was 9pm) and he slept till 5:40am, so from 10-5:40 thats like 7hrs 40mins....was sooo hoping he would do it again Sun night, no such luck then last night was unlucky again...although it's not too bad. He generally sleeps from about 8pm (somethimes 7:30 sometimes 8:30) and goes till about 2am, sometimes 4am then has a feed then sleeps 3 hr stints after that until night again. He is awake a bit in the day, prob has 2-3 sleeps, so I'm not doing too bad and most of the time he sleeps in the arvy when DD does so technically I could get 1-3hrs there but I hardly ever do  So I am getting about 6-8hrs out of him at night, which means I get between 5-7 cos I stuff around doing my stuff at night....
Well, my darling daughter is carrying on and not going to sleep so will go see to her...hope everyone is having a good day!
xxx Mish
Yay, :xmastree: it's so close! I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!
I'm back! I for got to mention this cool tip I got in an email the other day!
Have you ever driven a hire car or someone elses car and wondered which side the petrol tank is and had to stick your head out like Ace Ventura to see!
There is a easier way to tell and I can't believe it's not common knowledge!
On your fuel guage(sp?) there is a little picture of a pertrol pump...I thought it was for dummies to see that thats what the guage was for, telling them "This is the petrol guage"
Well....on the little picture there is a hose coming out...whichever side the hose is coming out of the tank on your picture, thats what side of the car your tank is on!
How simple, yet no-one I now knew it! Hope that made sense, hahaha

i got the same email, but its not true cause its not the case in my car :( i was excited about it till i actually looked.
mishlc, how weird about the whole petrol tank thing. Thanks for the tip.
Will definitely be getting some of the RLT if they really do boost your supply. I dont put Josh on the boob at all but I express 4 times a day and get 100ml in the morning and then only 50ml for every other session during the day, he is on formula the rest of the time.
I love Christmas too, cant wait :reindeer: :xmas:
How has your DD been lately? Mine has been an absolute horror most of the time. Screams when she doesnt get things she wants and has become very bossy. The terrible two's have definitely hit. She's very good with Joshua though, holds his hand whenever we go somewehere in the car.
heymegs, welcome to our thread. I know what you mean about being behind everyone in your forum. I was the last to go out of the September mums by 4 days (bubs was born Oct 9th).
amity, I used to do the exact same thing with DD when she was little. Put her in bed with me at 5-6am so I could get a few extra hours sleep. Worked a treat
calm, omg 2 months old. My little man is only 3 weeks. Its amazing how much difference there is between all our bubs even though we were all due in Sept.
Hope all goes ok with your MIL next week.
Josh is 3.8kg. That was a week ago though, will have to get him weighed again in another week.
henrygirl, I am going to start taking the RLT now, thanks to you, mishlc and giggleberry's recommendations
Hi to everyone else I have missed
Well Joshua is 3 weeks old today, cant believe how fast the time has gone and how much he has changed already. He goes to sleep about 8-9pm then wakes between 12-1am and then every 2 hours after that. Last night he only woke at 1 then at 3 then at 7. Was so nice!
We went and got some hand and feet sculptures done through TwinkleToes today. Will get them back in 3-4 weeks so will take some pics and post them then.
Also bought DD her first bike and helmet. So cute, she loves it. Figured that since it is daylight savings and the weather is warming up we will be able to go for family walks some nights and can push DD on her bike (its one with a parent handle).
DH goes back to work tomorrow, so will be just me and the kids. :fingerscrossed: they behave themselves for me.
Mishlc you are so lucky with marc's sleeping im tempted to introduce a formula feed at night for EJ but im a bit worried that it will upset his tummy and I dont want to do that unless I have to which formula are you going to use for Marc.
Meegs I cant believe how fast our little guys are growing EJ is 4 weeks old on thursday the time just fly's by.
I love chrissy and this year I cant wait Im going chrissy shopping on Thursday to the toy sale at Kmart I was looking in their catalouge there are so so many cool things.
Well my little man is crying and unfortunatly DP dosnt have boobs too fill his needsso I best go

??? I have no idea yet???
I used S26 gold for DD right the way through as its supposed to be the best but this time I'm not sure? I'm seeing the Health Nurse tomorrow so I might ask then. I want to know a bit more about the Nan(?) one....I think it's meant to be a lighter formula for their tummy, not sure, but I'm the same as you...I'm hesitant as I don't want to mess with his belly too much.
I'll see what she says tomorrow, if I ask (haha, I'm scared cos I don't want a breast is best lecture...I don't think she will give it cos she was ok when I formula fed DD but anyway)
I'll let ya know either way....
meegs, DD is ok...she can be trying, more than usual but I reckon it's a mix of the age and the introduction of bub and her having to share time with him....Shes the same in the car but she can't reach his hand so she says "Mummy, Marc sleeping" or "Mummy, Marc sad" if he's crying...shes a very good "mummy" to him and it's very cute to watch...
Hope all goes OK when your DH goes back to work.
I wanna do the whole walking thing but DH isn't into it and atm it's really cold over here anyway, but Marc isn't keen on the pram! It's really annoying cos whenever DD would ark up with the crying I would chuck her i the pram and go for a walk and she would settle and usually go to sleep which was annoying cos she'd ake up once I got home and stopped...anyway, it was good cos I walked heaps with her...Marc however doen't really like it, so I don't really wanna go for walks with him cos I will have to end up trying to carry him and juggle with DD so it's in the too hard basket atm!
We've kinda nicknamed him Pea at the moment cos he will cry for ages and then I'll put him in the sling and he'll sleep for ages...and goes off straight away, he loves it...so therefore so do I as I get peace when he's in it, my snuggly little boy. Everyone says he looks like an Anne Geddes baby.
I'll post a pic when my computer is fixed.
Oh, take the RLT and def have a big drink of water with you and slowly drink it while thinking about DS when your expressing and it should help you get more??? Helps me anyway!
Anyway, enough rambling, better go

i found that nestle nan gold was great i used this with dd. i aldo do top up feeds with jack as he tends to bulk feed right when i have to cook dinner. we are using the s26 sachets but i think i am gonna swicth back to the nan one as i don't like the smell of s26. also i remember being told that th e nan was the closest to breast milk.

Morning All,
Well it's been a few days since I last posted...we had a shocker of a weekend and it hasn't really gotten any better. I can't get Maddy to sleep for long periods of time. Monday night she was up every 45mins. Last night she only slept 1 1/2 hours at a time. I'M EXHAUSTED! We have tried top up feeds of formula but that doesn't seem to help. Everyone said that by 8 weeks she would be more settled but she seems to be more unsettled!
Sorry for the winge but I am at the end of my tether!!! I'm really not enjoying being a mother:gloomy:
Got to go I can hear Maddy...20 min nap only:hair:
Hope everyone is doing better than me...

michelle just wanted to pop on quickly to give you some of these :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:
hope maddy settles 4 u soon :fingerscrossed:
Morning all. Thought I had better jump on here while I have a few mins to myself (DD is watching cartoons and Josh is sleeping).
giggleberry, sending lots of hugs your way :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:
The first few months are the hardest, you and bubs are just getting used to everything and developing a routine. And of course just as you think you have everything figured out bubs changes and it feels like you're back to square one.
It does get better.
mishlc, we havent put Josh in his pram very much yet so I dont know how much he is going to like it. We have a tomy freestyle carrier for him but it is a 2 person job to get him in it and even then its hard to do. I have been looking at slings online this morning and have decided on one of the peanut shell ones. So will be buying that tomorrow to use while he is so little then when he is a bit bigger we will use the carrier.
What nicknames has everyone given their bubs so far (mishlc got me curious after telling her nickname for Marc)?
I was calling Josh 'cutie patootey' but now it has shortened and I find myself calling him 'tootey' most of the time. DH usually calls him 'Joshy' or 'little man'.
Not much going on here today, just have to get a bit of housework done. Used to get it all done for the week in one day but will have to space it out more now that I have 2 demanding children. Best get to it before 'tootey' wakes up.
Have a good day everyone :)
