Has anyone or know of anyone who's had a "accidental" water birth at the royal for a VBAC??? or been allowed to stay in the tub??
Sorry, can't help you with that one, I don't know anyone who has birthed there.
But, when we had our tour of the Birth Centre (which is seperate to the rest of the RHH maternity ward) the midwives were pretty clear on the fact that they aren't allowed to do water births, although I could tell they didn't like that policy! I have always wondered though, how exactly would they force you out of the bath? DH said they would just pull the plug, what if you sat on it?
Anyway, I must admit the baths in the rooms were pretty small, they weren't corner baths or anything, just slightly deeper single baths. Don't know how comfortable that would be.
I think the only sure fire way of getting a water birth is to birth at home. Have you considered that option? If you're interested give Terry from Homebirth Tasmania a call (her number is in the BH directory). She'll give you heaps of info.
All the best with it, sorry I couldn't have been of more help!
