My 4 week old DD takes up to 2 hours after early morning feeds to go back to sleep and starting to also become more unsettled during the day, waking up when I place her in the cot. (maybe I was just lucky with my DS who woke once per night for feed and when straight back to sleep from the start). She does have a bit of wind and reflux but today as I was having my second iced coffee (and addiction acquired during pregnancy 1) it occured to me maybe the caffiene is keeping her awake. Has anyone had similar experiences or knowledge?

I will forgo the iced coffee to see if it makes a difference (sure this will be a better move for my own health and weight loss anyway).

I know caffeine is reportedly bad for the bubs, but I have never noticed it make a difference to my young man. And I do drink an unreasonable amount of diet soft drink! And heaven forbid, even chocolate!

Your idea of forgoing and checking the consequences sounds like the way to go! Good luck :)

I drink probably too much coffee really i think during the day i have to admit that EJ only catnaps during the day as all she wants to do is play  . Night times though she will usually sleep for 4 hours once ive got her to sleep - the amount of coffee I've had doesnt seem to make much of a change on her sleeping habits.

I have found though she is a lot more awake if I've had moccona coffee for some reason...

funny, i was just talking about this to my mum today. she wanted to know if all the coffee i drink would be affecting my milk for bub and wonder if that keeps bubs awake.

also if i can (sorry dont mean to hijack your thread, but while we are on the subject!) how long does it take to get caffeine out of your milk?
or does it stay there?
im not sure how it works?
thanks

Ok, say they say you can metabolise 1 standard drink of alcohol within 1.5 hours so I would say it would be similar?????

RachWA I say try going without your Iced Coffee for a couple of days  and see if it makes a difference.
