OMG I'm sooo happy and proud of me and my little man.

We have FINALLY started to sleep without being swaddled!!! He is nine months today.

I never had any problem with swaddling him for however long but it began to become a problem with him getting out of it and subsequently waking up!!!

I've tried numerous times in the past with no success, it just ended in screaming and once he vomited and I just thought its not worth persisting for that result.

But about 2 days ago I just woke up and thought its got to be today. His sleeping was very bad and I sort of new it was something to do with the wrapping.

I'm not in CC but I used a little be of it. For those of you who might like to stop swaddling this is what I did.

I just went cold turkey, no half wrapping or anything. I let him stay up longer than usual so he was very tired (day time sleep).

I just lay him down on his belly, how he always has slept, gave him his dummy and put some calming music on and patted his back. When he tried to get up I'd just gently place him back down and replace the dummy.
After trying this a few time I got up and went out of the room for a few moments (like 30 secs or a minute) then returned, not saying anything and place him back down so on. Dummy, music, patting.I just repeated this pattern, stayed calm and it wasnt as bad as it had been.

In the past it has been impossible and i'm not into just letting him cry. But this time he responded really well. Today he had a two hour morning sleep and no crying to do so, just music and a bit of patting. And this afternoon another 1hr sleep, he fought that one a bit but nothing to bad.

Now if my son can do I really think anyone can. This is a baby who had to be swaddled just to be still enough to drink a bottle!!!

Anyway though I'd share that!! I'm very happy!!

well done! :smiliedance:

I've sort of been trying to get DD to sleep without being wrapped but she keeps rubbing her face and pulling her dummy out and waking herself up!

We had one day last week where she had 2 huge day sleeps without being wrapped but it didn't work at night.

I might try your music technique and see how it goes but I'm ok if I have to keep wrapping for a while!

Congrats to you :yelclap:

My DS is addicted to his wrap....I've tried to stop but he just gets hysterical and I find it too stressfull. Maybe in another month I'll give it a shot using your method.

Thanks for sharing :)

Well he went brilliantly for the first 2 days but the last 2 haven't been that great  hopefully it picks up again cause I don't like him to be crying so much but it seems to be the only option when he just doesn't cooperate at all!!! :banghead: anyway...

Good luck ladies :) hope it goes smoothly for you
