Is there anyone else who is 'vertically challenged' (ie very short) who has breastfed their baby in an ergo? I am 156cm, and just tried to feed 4month old DS in the ergo. I didn't get the infant insert, as we have a bubba moe sling we have been using for the first few months. I found that at almost 7kg it is getting a bit much for my back with a sling & thought the ergo would be better. I have the hip part positioned really low down on my waist (i can't sit while wearing it as the padded part gets in the way) and have the shoulder strap really loose, but he still has to lay sideways a little bit to reach it. I was also a little worried about attachment & i had to (TMI - sorry) lift it up a little so he could reach the nipple.

Any tips from another shorty would be appreciated. Also will it get a easier as he gets bigger & sinks into the seat part more, or harder because he will be longer? TIA

Hi  I breastfeed in my Patapum lots! I just lengthen the strap on the side that he is feeding off, or lenghtern the back strap that joins the other straps (get it? lol!) so I can slip the strap off my shoulder a bit to get him level with my breast. I have big breasts, so it is easy to aim them at his mouth too  Once he is attached and happy I can readjust the straps to make me hands free again. FWIW I put the waist strap far down on my hips as well, otherwise I find it rides up and annoys the $hit out of me.

I really hope that makes sense... you will just need to fiddle lots and find a way that works for you and your babe. A friend of mine has a boy the same age as mine and we both have a different way of feeding in the Ergo - whatever works.
