DD1 (18mths) - cloth bum, immunised, formula fed, controlled crying (*after co-sleeping), no dummy, big bed at 12 mths, use a harness when shopping, stopped bottles at 12 mths

DD2 (3mths) - cloth & disposable bum, immunised, bf & comp f/fed, co-sleeping atm but soon to go into cot where I will use C/C if necessary, dummy, not wrapped, carried in a sling

I have heard the pros & cons for each of my decisions but at the end of the day my girls are healthy & happy and so am i, so there :p

I mix it up a little.
Some things work some of the time and others not. Things are always changing as bub grows I find.

I use a dummy. I did start out with solid intentions not to, but they are sooo wonderfull I can't remember why I didn't like them anymore:laughing:

I co-sleep but only some of the night. Pearl starts out in her bassinet beside the bed and when she wakes for a feed she comes into bed with me and feeds laying down. I get more rest that way, and it's so nice a cozy.

I use Cloth and Disp I would say about half half. Cloth at home and disp out and about or in clothes that will not fit a cloth nappy in.

I imunise (sp?)

I don't let Pearl cry so what's that (no cry?) I rock to sleep and use any method as long as it's peacfull and gets baby down..........

I use a sling and prams I also breast feed

As Pearl gets older I intend to change the sleeping arangment though. She will have to go into her cot in her room. before that I'm going to sqeeze every last bit out of the bassinet! lol

DS is breast fed and has a cloth bum. He is immunised. He is not circumcised. He sleeps in a cot in our room, but tends to come into our bed at about 5am most mornings. We have a dummy, but it is only used for settling. We don't use controlled crying. I use a sling or a pram, depending on where we are going.

cirumcise -yes.

immunise-yes!!!!!! i think flu vaccines are a bit OTT though, then we just get mutated viruses etc [not a judgement, each to their own].

dummy-yes, i fully intended not to, but there you go!!

nappies-cloth at birth, switched to sposies,am now going back to cloth.

feeding-up until friday, ds was breastfed, is now on formula.

control crying-yes, to an extent. when we first started putting him back in his cot we wouldnt leave him, we would stay until he was settled, patting, shushing cuddling if he got to upset, which wasnt often.
before that, we co-slept.

My DS is fully breast fed, we use cloth during the day, and a disposable overnight.I wouldn't say we control cry, but we let him settle himself to sleep. Now that he knows how, he hardly makes a noise when we put him down!I was open to using a dummy, but he doesn't like them!DH didn't want to circumcise, so I trusted his opinion on this (what would I know about this!) and he is/will be fully immunised.

I breafeed, and pump to bottle feed
cloth nappies during day at home, otherwise disposables at night and when going out
dummy when he wants it, doesnt really like them, comrolled crying at night to sleep but rocking in day time, there no other way to get him to sleep.
No circumcison
cot or basinet which ever he is in and co-sleeps if wakes up early

Anyways Ebony is breastfeed, cloth nappied, immunised, she sleeps in her own bed until 5am then she comes in with us for a few hours so I guess a tad co sleeping.

We use a pram and a sling, swing and bouncer lol

Everyone else has gone into detail a bit more so i want to aswell.

Kaid will be being circ..fathers wishes.
He is in his cot till early hours then in with me.
We were using controlled crying but no longer, he works himself up to the point where he chokes (yes thats letting him cry for 2 mins)
He is fully breastfed and will be till he is 2:fingerscrossed:
He is on a tablespoon of very watered down farex a day.
He is NOW fully cloth bum
We use a sling @ home, baby carrier and pram when out.
Use a dummy but trying to get him off it.
And immunise but starting to research risks ect.

Circumcise - No, but for medical reasons or if he wants to when he can decide that's up to him.

No co-sleeping - my room is mine & his room is his. DD also knows our room is off limits (they have the run of the whole house... we need 1 room to ourselves... our santuary... we think).

We use soothing techniques too (wrapping) but no rocking... actually a bit of CC.

Cloth bum (have used flats & sposie... but now fully mcn)

Was breast now bottle.

Pram & sling.

Tried the dummy, but he didn't want it!

& yes we immunise (???... selective???)

I just think they all turn out ok.. so why stress!!?? Each to their own!!! No judgements!!! (Geez it would be a boring world if we were all the same!!!)

GREAT THREAD!!!

* we BF on demand, phasing out her formula top-ups now her weight is under control.
* immunised.
* we have her cot in our room (moving it in a month). occasional co-sleeping if she's really fussy.
* we rock / walk her to sleep, although i am starting to put her down when she has settled and allow her to put herself to sleep (but pick her up and cuddle if she starts to cry).
* we tried a dummy, but she hates them.
* 90% cloth bum. sometimes disposibles when we go out, and disopsies at night. now that her legs are a little chunkier i hope to use the clothies i bought her for nighttime (so that she doesn't wee out the sides!).

ummm... yeah. we also are really big on music so we sing / play flute, guitar and piano to her all the time as well as lots of cds! her favourites at the moment are tex perkins, dido, peter murphy and st germain.

FF, sposie and cloth, no dummy, sleeps in cot in own room, has a bath every second night if I can be bothered or a shower in morning, selectively immunised, cruises around in an ergo and is dearly loved by all of us.

Definetly NO circumcising, controlled crying, dummy or baby bjorn.

ETA..we are also very big on music. Both our boys love it.

I have b/g twins who are now 6 months old.
I breastfeed both.
Boy has a dummy in bed, girl sucks her thumb.
Both are in disposables only. I do enough washing as it is.
Both immusised.
Both sleep in snuggle bed in cot in a shared room.
Used control crying but only couple of times as both really good bubs.
Not circumised.
Bath every second night.
Both love music and jolly jumpers.
Double pram only.

okay so here's my 2cents worth...

Formula Fed but if he is nuzzling for a daytime bf I can feed him during the day... mostly ff 150ml x 3
Breast Fed night time feeds and maybe one during the day usually 8pm, 4am and 7am
Circumcised i think this is his decision when he is old enough to make it ... same with ear piercing... his choice when he is old enough to decide
Immunised yes, the schedule ones... no to any that I have to pay for...
Co-sleep he did co-sleep for a few weeks, but settled into a cradle in our room at about 6 weeks and then into a cot in his own room down the other end of the house at 4 months
Dummy yes, he is a dummy boy... but he settles without one... he wants everything in his mouth especially fingers... i figure a dummy is a bit cleaner... maybe
Controlled Crying he isn't that hard to settle, not been an issue yet... only in the car when I can't find anywhere safe to pull over to settle him... i hate hearing my bay cry... i let his needs dictate our routine a fair bit, so he never has to cry out for long...
Cloth bum i use cloth nappy at home most of the time when we are home, but of late this has been less and less often so he is almost 70% in disposables now... i wish the biodegradeable ones were cheaper...
Disposable see above
Other prams, hug-a-bub, playpen/portacot, highchair, rug on floor... bath every 3rd day and gets to be in big bath now...
started on solids at 5 months, when he was showing ready signs... is now eating toast, several veges pureed, chicken, tuna, lamb, beef, various fruit and oat porridge and rice cereal all pureed... oh not the toast
