I'm looking at buying a high chair for my little girl and was after recommendations from other parents. After looking at some, I was a bit concerned about the stability of them (don't want bub to topple over). Also, some seemed pretty difficult to clean. Any recommendations?

I haven't looked at this site in detail, but just saw it because I was watching Sunrise.

I noticed it has a baby section and they have done tests on heaps of high chairs in different price ranges. It may help make your decision.

We have a peg prego which is great, it is 2nd hand from a friend as I couldn't justify the price of it.

High chairs can be really over priced. Even the cheapest of high chairs should have a plastic coated fabric so it's easy to wipe down, the only thing that I think is it's easier to get one where the tray comes off, not over the head.
Just look at how easy/hard it is to get the tray off so you can get bubs in and out without hassle.

Ours was from Target on special for about $60, it's not flash but I don't think it matters as they eat in it, mess it up, you wipe it down once they've finished.
They aren't going to spend that much time in it, and do you really want to spend hundreds of dollars on something thats going to end up put in the ceiling or garage eventually anyway?

I asked a similar q awhile ago and followed someone's recommendation to get an Ikea "antilop" highchair. It's GREAT!! It only cost about $40 and is moulded plastic, so very easy to clean, it's lightweight and travels really easily - we've even taken it to parks so bub can sit in it while we eat. The tray is detachable and so are the legs so it's easy to put in the car. I'd really recommend it :)

Ours is Prima Pappa High Chair. Its fantastic, sturdy, compact storage, dinner tray, easy to roll casters, self standing when folded my son absolutely LOVES it!
It's rather pricey, but I highly recomend it!

I have the "Fisher Price - Linkadoos" highchair & while a little pricey it was the best thing i invested in !
The tray comes off & has a one handed release which is of course very handy ! The tray has 3 interchangeable tray inserts that are very handy for a messy eater like mine LOL.
On the tray it has toys attached which keeps them occupied & are great teethers.
It also has a clip on basket & bottle/cup holders at either side, i use the basket to keep bibs handy & an extra toy.
It is all wipe down & the actual seating can strip off to wash it separate to the chair itself etc. It has 7 different height levels & has 4 locking wheels.
Has been so great im glad i spent extra on it as bubs has spent so much time in it as i wheel him around where ever i go as im doing chores so we can talk & sing etc.

I too posted this qu and had the IKEA ANTILOP recommended to me, as the other mums here have been. It really is great, and for $49 who is complaining!! The biggest difference that I have found between it and other brands is that it is one piece of moulded plastic and has a waist strap, not a 5-point safety harness. It means that you can't move the tray in or out to adjust the fit on the bub. The strap is adjustable, but you just slide bub in and out of the highchair. It suits us perfectly as it is easy to use and so easy to keep clean.

My parents bought a highchair to keep at their house for when bub is there and they got one from Babyco, $79 I think, and it is fine, does the job. It has an adjustable tray (3 levels) and the 5-point harness.

$30 difference but at the end of the day they do the same job.

My advice is to take bub with you, put him/her in a few of them and try and use them yourself. You'll find what works and what you feel comfy with.

We bought a Steelcraft one... and were very diappointed. We wish now we had either bought the ikea one as it seems so easy to clean or one with a centre pommel. Our DD keeps sliding down (even with the straps done up on tightest setting) and it is very hard to keep clean as food falls down into the strap holes. A toxic waste zone!!! I saw a lady buying one the other day at a baby store and just had to tell her my thoughts. She went and bought it anyway! Oh well. I guess I too thought it was a good buy until i was in the throes of using it. I wish someone had told me what to look for before we went and got it.
