Do I need to do anything before using them for the first time? Do they come alreadly lanolised?

Also, what and where do I buy the things I need to lanolise?

Thanks

Baby Beehinds wool wraps don't come pre-lanolised and you need to wash them in the machine once to get just get the manufacturing smells off, kwim ?

You can use them without lanolising them but they do work most effectively when lanolised. I use the sheepish grins creamy spray that comes in the most lush aromas, purchased at The WeeWuns store. It's easy to use too. Yeah I'm slack

I wash my woolens, both knitted (hand wash) and wraps (machine wash), dry them and then spray the Sheepish Grins creamy lanolin on them, massage it in and then they are good to go for a few weeks. You need to wash them every 4-6weeks or when they are soiled and dirty, but before then only hang them out to air if they aren't soiled. Sometimes the lanolin wears off before the 4-6 weeks but that's fine as you can re-spray them and repeat the process.

Hope that helped.

Thanks heaps for the info.

Far out, there are so many scents to choose from:eek:

Any recommendations? Have you tried the baby powder one or cotton scent?

Exactly what Karnifool said.. Also thought i'd add that Sustainable Hemp Products have a good selection too - you can get lanolin wool wash & liquid lanolin which are also nice & effective & smell yum - i think both of these products keep covers lanolised longer (coz of the higher L content), but i tend to only use them for my knitteds. The wool wraps i also machine wash & use the spray L, it's just easier (whereas my knitteds i have to hand wash anyway, so its just as easy to use the L wool wash & do 2 things at once).

If you don't want to get scented stuff you can get some Lanisoh from your chemist (same stuff you use for cracked nipples when bf), dissolve a pea sized amount in some hot water, add it to a bucket of luke warm water, & soak the cover for at least half an hour. Remove any excess water by rolling your cover gently in a towel, then dry flat in the shade to dry. A tube of Lansinoh should last forever...

I got Celtic Moon Spice (cinammon & nutmeggy scent - yummy!), & Monkey Farts (troppo scent) & a Mocha one (can't remember the proper name). I'd recommend them all. Baby Powder's next on my list!
