Hi just wondering if anyone knows what qualifications you need to become a MCHN? Do you have to do general nursing first? Im in Victoria - anyone know where it if offered to be studied?

Cheers :)

Not 100% sure but think you have to do either nursing/midwifery and then it's an extra added on. Look up Monash Uni as might be some info there.
You can do Bach of nursing externally through Open University too, that's what I'm doing so don't have to worry about childcare except for placements.

Not exactully sure about that but I know that my MCHN said that she did general nursing for 15 yrs, then some midwifery & is now a MCHN. I don't think there is a particular MCHN degree that you do, I think you need to do general nursing or midwifery first & then maybe specialise in children later on. I know that you can do pedeatric nursing - This maybe how you can become a MCHN?

I am studying to be a C&FHN and I am an RN. I believe that you either have to become a Midwife first or a Registered Nurse with postgrad quals in C&FHN
