Okay...so I know I'm not alone when I say this (I actually got the idea to ask everyone about it from another mothers forum...)...
Has anyone gotten a "baby kicking" feeling in their stomachs AFTER having a baby (mine is 6.5 months old now...other mothers who have experienced it have older bubs)?
I've had a pregnancy test...I'm not pregnant (thank god)...but I feel, on the odd occassion...a "kick"!
Does anyone know WHY? WHY is the mean question. I just wanna know WHY!?!?!?!
(lol)

It's funny you mention this as i have only just mentioned this to my dh about an hr ago lately i have been feeling alot of fluttering in the stomache, i don't know if it's just wishful thinking or the tests are wrong and i am preg while on the pill. i don't know wether it psychological as in a mother we miss the sensation or just a side effect of child rearing. good to know i am not the only one.

I had this feeling for about 8 or 9 weeks after DD2 was born. I have not had it since. No idea why but it would be interesting to see if someone has an answer or theory on it?

OMG!
I was starting to think that I was going nuts!
I know exactly what you are talking about! I was thinking about it last night.
When I was preg, I felt bubba kick everytime I sat down & my pants waistband put pressure on my tummy. I still feel it now! It has only been happening the last couple of weeks & my baby is 5.5 months old.
I haven't thought that I am pregnant again, but I was starting to wonder why.
If any one has any answers, I would be very interested!

I have had this too after i had dd.My guess is it is like when your eyes twitches it is probably just your stomach muscles twitching,i have also had other muscles that twitch like my leg!!!
Hope this puts your mind at ease
I felt this for MONTHS after birth.
My favourite theory that I've heard so far is that its your internal organs moving around to try to get back into position after being squished and moved while pregnant. Also, that your tummy is now more sensitive the the internal movements of your body.
I still get the odd one, but not as much as I used to in the early days.
I started a thread about this a while ago as I had the same thing! I remember someone saying at the time that its because everything has shifted inside and its digestion (or at least something like that!)
So wierd isn't it :)
I had this about a month or so ago,and now on the odd occasion. It felt so real, and strong,I thought I must of been around 4 or 5 months pregnant and not known. It was exactly like I felt when pregnant with almost one year old DD.I did a test and it was negative.
Very,very strange!!
My son is 16 months old and just recently I have had some fluttering sensations. It is very odd indeedy. He was an especially active bubba and i never felt him moving after he was born, but now I am getting flutters:confused:

Yes Yes Yes!!!
Wow, how strange, I feel this too! I knew it couldn't be a bubba - because I was feeling it straight after the dude was born... sometimes I wondered if there had been a twin, but knew that was ridiculous, I'm pretty sure they would have noticed when they did the c/s!
My theory was that with the c/s they had to move my insides around to get to bubba. So I thought that perhaps it was just my insides moving back to their right places???
I am so glad I am not a nutbag :D
Hey Ladies,
I also thought I was pregnant but I knew I couldn't of been. My son is know 15mths and I still get them know and again. Have had them for about 6mths know.
But I beleive its just your organs trying to get back to there right home.
I'm 22 weeks preg and can't feel my baby kicking!!
Apparently having the placenta in the front, and I'm sure some existing padding!, isn't helping. I'm sure it'll happen soon. I've been trying warm Milo at night on my S-I-L's recommendation to stimulate the baby.
My DS is 6weeks and I still get them occasionally. Had them really strong the first few weeks.
I call them phantom kicks - kind of like how they say amputees have a phantom arm or leg and can feel it even after it's been removed.
I'm a little out there with my spiritual beliefs - I believe it's still the energy (kind of like the aura) of the pregnancy, which takes a little longer to adjust; that the energy body changes at a different rate to the physical. Sorry if anyone thinks it's kooky, but that's my take on it. :p

I still often feel kicks and DD is 12 months old. I was a bit freaked at first and sometimes do wonder if I am pregnant ( but, sure I'm not!) . I actually like it as I loved the feeling of DD kicking and fluttering away. And all this time I thought I was going a bit mad...
Ater i lost my baby i was still feeling it kick and it was a terrible situation because i knew my baby was gone but i could still feel it so i still held the hope that maybe the doctors were wrong and i still had my bubba. Its very strange.

Traceyh... IM so sorry that must have been horrible for you. HUGS*
Im so glad this thread was started as i have been getting the same thing and i was beginning to panick that i was preg... getting married in Aug so being preg now is the LASt thing iwant. Was almost going to get a preg test yesterday but i figured i couldnt possibly be preg as i have the implanon implant and i had the same sort of feelings when ds1 was about 1 1/2.
Thanks For putting my mind at ease and letting me know im not the only one. Now thats one less thing i have to stress about for the wedding.

Wow i am so amazed how many others feel this. Well the test are right im not preg as i got me mens today:( . I like the idea of the aura and that spiritual stuff, and the bit about phantom pains now that sound true, i bet thats what it really is.

I would think that they are muscle spasms... twitch in the stomach after birth where the muscles have changed since having a baby - where they maybe settling back down, or adjusting to a different 'life' after birth.
kazza - my placenta is at the front also - i am 23 weeks pregnant... I have had trouble seeing and feeling my sons kicks at times, but best thing to try would be to lye on your left side and just concintrate on your belly... Warm showers/baths are good too...

This is off the main subject but still related. People who have their limbs amputated still feel them as if they are still attached to their bodies "phantom limb sensations/pains" So it might be a kind of nerve memory like with an ampute??? Not that the baby was attached to your nervous system but it was in your uterus for quite a while just a thought:)

hehehe In joining this boat!
I've been quite enjoying those odd movements, but I knew I wasn't pregnant... that'd be funny though, considering I haven't had the chance for well over a year  lol
OMG! Thats what that feeling must be lol, I honestly thought I was pregnant, phew thought I was going CRAZY! Will need to explain this to DP now!! (Even though I would love to be pregnant again!).
hi
just wanted to add that i too still feel that im pregnant ive even taken tests to make sure that im not preggers. Weird feelings hey!!
:yelclap: thank god someone else is going through the same things as myself
as you could imagine after having 4 gremlins over a 9 yr period youngest 18 mths i was starting to think i was going crazy with all this fluttering kicking feeling in my belly over the last 3 months off and on but the funny thing is when i roll over or sudden movements i know i am not pregnant but something is causing this to happen i guess i never wanted to ask my gp in case he thought i was losing it good to know i am not alone...
