Hi girls
My family and I are moving to Darwin at the end of November. I just wanted to drop in here and say hi!
I'll be dropping into this forum every now and then, so I will hopefully get to know a bit about you all. Once we have settled in, I'd love to catch up with you (assuming you guys have catch ups).
Bye for now!! :D
Jac
Hi Jac,

Hi!
Nope - haven't had / heard about / arranged a catch up. Sounds like a good idea though!
i posted for EC'ers to meet - but it seems there are none of those here at bubhub in Darwin..
bit about us.. 6mo DD, goes potty on cue so we part time EC, part modern cloth, part Eenee, part cheapie sposie ( only when i'm really slack / busy out etc - cheap doen't matter to us coz the instant she's wet she's changed anyway)
Um, that's the nappy / elimination stuff, we, oops I BF (Paul doesn't lactate!), and co-sleep, and wear sometimes (looking at getting another sling now), and, me, i'm a Scout LEader and SAHM, ...
Anyway, welcome to Darwin - it'll probably be very warm/ sticky and about to rain when you get here, so try to spend as much time in a pool as possibe!! everywhere has freezing aircon then anyway! Where are you coming from?
TTFN!!

Nice to meet you Tania and Carly!!
I'm moving up from Adelaide, although we lived in Darwin before DS1 was born. Moved away for medical assistance and are now moving back for family support. It's hard doing it on your own without family around.
I have 2 boys, my eldest is about to turn 3yrs and my youngest is 4.5months, bfing and about to be moved into MCN. My DH works from home and I'm a SAHM.
What sort of activities do they have for toddlers and babies in Darwin? Do they have kindergym, swimming lessons, playgroups etc?
We'll be moving up sometime in November, haven't set the date yet, but I will set it this week.
Jac
Hi Clubstar.
I don't live in Darwin anymore. My dad is a council alderman there still and we just went back for a visit a few months ago, it was great to go back.
It will be nice to move back close to family. Did you go to school there?
My daughter just turned 3 as well and i have an eight month old as well.
We left when DD was 11 months old but while I was there we did library nursery time every week. It was really really good. You can also do swimming lessons down at coconut grove at the fish bowl, its a heated pool. I used to swim there sometimes with DD. Carly knows more about the lessons though.
There are quite a few play groups around. Go to the playgroup NT website and they will have all the ones around. You DD1 should be able to start preschool in a year or so too. What suberb are you going too.
Hey,
Yeah i take the girls to the goldfish bowl at coconut grove. The lessons cost around $100 every term so $10 a week. As Caitlin said the pool is temp controlled so it's warm during the dry and cooler during the wet. The classes arn't that big so you get more of a chance to interact with the swim coach. As for playgroups i'm not sure on those i usually meet up with a group of other mums (friends and friends of friends) once a week and at the moment as all our first borns are the same age we have been going to that play thing they have at the ten bowling centre in Nightcliff, not sure what it's called.
Some of the others might know more about that.

Hiya,
i'm in palmerston, and theres a goldfish bowl out here too. DD and i go to a salvos music and morning tea every thursday, it's easy to get into because you kinda smile and briefly chat when singing, so when it's time for MT everyone seems more approachable.
ive been meaning to get to those library sessions for a while, but we're not one's for strict routine so getting to the thurs sess is a bit much sometimes! lol
