I had to have an emergancy c/s with DS and due to my SPD am electing a c/s this time around.

With DS c/s i had no pain relief afterwards and was out of bed litterally hrs after is was done and went home 2 days later.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me how your healing went 2nd time around? was it just the same? or was it harder with 1st bubs around?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, not sure if i can be of help but i had 2 cesareans 15 months apart, first cesarean was emergency, 2nd one was elective. I know with me personally, i found i took forever to heal and was in soooo much pain second time round, i think it was because my kids were born soooo close together, you arent suppose to have 2 operations in less than 2 years.

It will probably be very different if you have a bigger gap between cesareans cause your body would of had time to heal.

Hi, I have had 2 caesers. I think 2nd time round the recovery took longer. But I think everyone is different, because I have heard from others their 2nd caesers being the same as 1st.

I guess I'm going against the grain here, but I had an elective c/s with my first & an emergency with my second (17 months +1 day after my first) and I actually found my recovery much easier with the 2nd! It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but I actually don't think I once felt like I'd even had an op after the second! I don't think I even had any pain at all.

After my first c/s, I had quite a lot of pain for about 2-3 days afterwards & couldn't easily get around, but second time round, I was up & about very easily straight after they took my catheter out.

Maybe it had something to do with the reasons for my c/s? My first was due to placenta praevia & so I had a much larger incision than with my second (which was done simply because he didn't want to come out! ;)) Who knows?

Hey

I had an emergency c/s with DS and and elctive with DD just 1 month ago.

I found the second much better. Up and about a lot quicker and the pain didn't seem to be as bad. I have even found that my scar has healed quicker this time than last, and that I got back to doing the same things as before the C/s a lot quicker second time around.

I found it easier from the point of veiw that I knew what to expect, I have had 4 c/s, and each has maybe been a little worse than the time before, but I put this down mostly to the fact that I am a bit older with each. 23 for the first, and 30 for number 4. Try not to worry, the worst will be over in a couple of days, and you will have beautiful bub. Goodluck:thumbsup:

Thank you everyone for your replies :D It's wonderful to hear everyone's experiences.

Not long to go now for me.

My second was much easier than my first, and I had no issues with the first.

First Feb 2001, emergency c/s. Second, August 2006 planned. I seemed to be more mobile sooner with the second, didn't need any pain relief after going home (unlike the first), and generally seemed able to get back to "normal" more quickly and easily.

Of course, everyone and every situation is different. Good luck with you birth!

I found my 2nd csect a lot harder recover but I had 2 other children at home so that probably didnt help. They tell you dont lift for 6 weeks but I swear they've never had a 2 yr old and a csect before because personally I found it impossible.. I was lifting my 2 yr old while I was still in hospital and as soon as I got home life had to go on.. my 2 yr old was in a cot and needed lifting in and out of that and the bath and everything else... so yes I found it quite difficult.

Another thing that would have contributed was that mine was an emergency csect though in veryyy touch and go circumstances for me the second time around (first was emerg csect too but I was healthy and my bub was not)

Everyone is dfferent though and lots of women cope a lot better, thats just some of the thigs I struggled with initially!

Best of luck

my 2nd c/s was so much better (15months apart) the whole experience-the birthing, the wound healing, the bonding etc.
Good luck!!!!

I found my second to be less painful, first was emergency and took me months to be painfree. #2 was at 3 in the afternoon and was up the next morning with no pain but #3 was painful for the first week.
