I was telling my friend today about how id been feeling and she said it sounded just like here when she went to the drs and was diagnosed with PCOS so i was wondering those of you that suffer from it, what the symptoms are.

endo was diagnosed after 2 laparoscopy's - often will not show up on ultrasound. Treated with the pill, doesn't really do much except make me go insane. PCOS thru ultrasound and series of blood tests, can be treated with medication (hormone) but as we were TTC i chose not to. Often will use the pill to treat htis as well. Weight loss helps with PCOS a lot , a low GI diet is best. But it is hard to lose the weight as weight gain is a symptom - big time for me - a catch 22 situation. I put 20 kilos on in 12 months with no change in my diet or exercise habits! Obviously if you are not oweight you do not need to worry but the low GI diet helps balance your insulin levels.

If you find your gp or gyno is no good, ask to be referred to an endocronologist.

Good luck, it sucks!

Oh and with the endo they will 'burn' the endo off with laser treatment but have found this causes scarring which in turn can affect your chances of conceiving - the newest form of surgery is to actually cut they endo out of the effected organs. My friend had this done twice, it didnt help and after having the 2 children she wanted she had a hysterectomy at 28. She had endo very severely.

Pregnancy and having children is meant to help but it didnt for my friend and hasnt for my sister and i. Do you have sisters? Often find that all sisters will be the same. Did your mum have any problems?

Hi

I have PCOS and was diagnosed with blood tests and ultrasounds and a full physical exam. My periods were up to 3 months in length, I have extra weight around my middle and couldn't fall pregnant. It was found that I wasn't ovulating, my progesterone level was only 2(it has to be at least 20 to ovulate, so it was very low!), high testosterone levels( ), weight around my middle that I just couldn't get rid of, a few cysts on my ovaries but not many. I was put onto clomid 50mg by my gyno and 2 cycles later I was pregnant!
