DF and I are getting married on 2nd March next year and I was wondering when was the best time to send out invites?

My mum has been invited to a few weddings recently and all the invited have arrived a good 2.5-3months before the wedding.

So when did u send out ur wedding invites?

about 10 to 12 weeks before is the generally accepted timing of wedding invites. I did that, then sent a 'reminder' note about a month before. "looking forward to seeing you at our wedding, here is a list of accomodation ideas and maps of the area."

I think the standard time is 3 months before the wedding...

I think 10-12 weeks before hand is pretty standard...esp if there is interstate or overseas guests.

I thought it was around 6-8 weeks you sent them out ?? That's when we sent ours but it was nearly two decades ago.

i thought 6 weeks too guess it depends on how big things are and where things are happening as well and who your inviting really!

I thought it was 6-8 weeks. And 12 for long distance friends/family.... Well thats what we did anyway. (That way we could invite other people if long distance people couldn't make it).

We sent out interstate one 12 weeks before and the rest by 10 weeks before, except for some I forgot to post!!!

10 weeks is about right unless you have an a and b list.

6 weeks for us. I also thought 6 weeks is pretty standard.

If I was getting married on the 2nd March, I would send out a 'save the date' type of card in Dec, just before Xmas (10-12 weeks before) and then send out the invites in early January (8 weeks before), giving them 6 weeks to RSVP.

We got engaged in May this year and then decided we'd marry this November, so we sent out the Save The Date cards straight away as the wedding was so close, so hopefully that gives me a bit more time before our invites need to go out (we're down to 3 months now, and I'm still trying to sorting them out :o ) ...

I would actually send the 'save the date' asap ... a bit hard I know, especially if you are still trying to sort out the guest list. Maybe even send them to the definites?

We sent our invites for NZ people a year before LOL.Then ppl cant use the excuse "oh we didnt have enough notice".

I would say at least 6 weeks before.

I would send the 'save the date' cards asap to people that are interstate or overseas, but for people that are local, i think 3 mths in advance is enough notice.

I think 10 weeks before the wedding roughly? Some rellies on both sides of our were incredibly slack, we had to chase them for RSVP's the day before the wedding!

We sent ours 8 weeks before the RSVP date.

Theres ALWAYS going to be those who you'll have to chase up and chase up because they wont RSVP. Hope there isnt too many for you though.

My sister is getting married on January 3rd, and thats in Perth, so Im hoping she sends us the invites a few months in advance atleast.
