My best friend is due on the 4th of December and I said that I would have a baby shower for her. But get this I have never been to a baby shower so I'm not sure what I need to do :o
We have worked out a date and we are having it at her SIL, but what's all I've worked out.
She is not going to find out the sex of the baby, so I was thinking of having a lemon and white theme.
I really want her to have a great time as she has had a bit of a hard time lately with her DP.
:D So could you lovely ladies please give me some info on what else I need to stat to organise.
Thanks ladies, Angela :hugs:

Heyy:wave:
Hope everything goes to plan!
and Its a beautiful idea for ur friend
ok the first thing to think about would be
-location (whether to have it at a resturant, ur house, a rented out hall...)
- Guests (which of her friends would like to come and people who she would like most to be there)
- Budget ( how much money you'd want to spend on a present, food, the hall?)
- Food (finger food, drinks,)
- Music (get a collection of various music that people like)
- Games (research through websites, threads about what sort of games u'd like to have..)
hope that helps
xxxxxxxxxxx:)

Make some nibblies (you can baby-theme them if you want), get some cute invites, etc etc...
And play silly games.
If you google baby shower games, you'll probably find a few ideas.
A few we played:
*We had to make a baby using a few items, like a balloon, some string, a pen, a roll of toilet paper, a freddo frog... etc etc.
*We wrote A-Z down and then had to come up with baby names from those. The person with the most number of unique names (as in, names that nobody else put down for that letter), won.
*We had to make up a lullaby including a few words... some of which were quite stupid words... like "slaughter".
You can all do a "Guess which sex" and "Guess the birth size" and stuff... but obviously, the winner of that can only be discovered after the birth...
Another one is guessing the waist-measurements of the Mum-to-be. She'll have to be okay with her size for this one to work well though... I was fine with having a massive stomach so I didn't mind... but some women are a bit paranoid and it may just upset them.

Thanks ladies :hugs:
I'm going to make a list of games to play after I have checked some out on goggle  And Mel's SIL is a really good cook so she is going to do the food. I know it's not until November but I hate leaving things until the last minute.

Have you asked her what she expects?? Everyones different. I'm not one for games myself and for my baby shower they had a clairvoyant and a high tea. Loved it very me (I'm a spoil sport lol)

Yeah games are important. Do a mix of 'action' ones and 'quiz' ones. My baby shower games were all 'quiz' ones and it really stifled the mood!
Also have a little 'notebook' for people to write tips in - child raising, home keeping and inspirational type tips. (Have to really encourage people to write in this - maybe scrapbook it too)
I personally wouldn't want a 'lemon and white' theme because I don't like lemon. White is good. Better off waiting till she knows when it's born and she can get cute blue/pink things. But this is just me. I got really annoyed if people thought my DD was a boy! :)
Don't forget some great music - disco is always good.

i was very very lucky and had 2 baby showers. a work one and a family/friends one. both ran pretty similar. my friends decorated and we had lots of yummy food. party shops have really cool baby shower stuff, they decked it out with balloons, table clothes, little rattles and pins, serviettes etc.
we had about 5 games at each the funniest games we played at both my showers were
chose 4 teams of 2 and they filled baby bottles with water and they had to feed each other.
get some vasoline and cotton balls. each player has to cover their nose is vaso and then dip their face into a bowl of cotton balls, winner is the one with most stuck on their face.other games were bingo, guess how many lollies in the bottle, how big my belly was where everyone cut a piece of string n then put it around me(my 8yr old sister got it exactly right!!!).
at the end i finally got to open all my pressies!
I didn't do games at my baby shower as I am not really 1 for games. We actually had a BBQ lunch & I invited all my firends & family & DP invited all his friends & family. It actually worked out quite well. Although I didnt do games I have heard of a good game where the guests bring a photo of themselves as a baby & everyone has to guess which baby is who.
I made pot plants for all the females that gave us a gift (didnt think males were into pot plants). I just took cuttings from a plant that I already had, bought some little plastic pots & potting mix & made these up about 4 wks before the baby shower. I bought some ribbon that said 'baby shower' on it & tied it around the pot plants. They looked really lovely & everyone was nicely surprised to get a pot plant.
You can buy a lot of baby shower decorations at Spotlight. I bought some balloons, a few banners & some ribbon & decorated the dinning room. It wasn't that expensive & it looked really nice.
We also had a cake made at Ferguson Plarre & it was yellow with 'Baby' on it. It was aroud $90, but I wanted to give the guests something different & something they would remember. You can get cheaper cakes made or even make your own!
There are many things that you can do & lots of stuff that you can buy for decorations/games/gifts/food etc....
Good Luck & I hope it all works out well.

personally i would go with all white decorations. it symbolises the purity of a newborn. ;) there are some awesome games you can play. and i thought it was really cute that my mum bought me one of those signs that you stick on your car window that says 'baby on board' and she tied it round my belly.
