So, Ella is nearlly 8 weeks & the post birth bleeding keeps stopping & starting. When it starts up again it's not heavy at all..... very light in fact, but a browny colour not red. Is this normal. If so how long does it go on for?

Yep....very normal. I think mine lasted close to the 2 month mark from memory.

sorry to concur with overcooked but yep I had the same problem, then I got my af straight after that. Its a real bummer alright:(

Perfectly normal - the brown blood shows that its old so you are probably nearly dried up by now. I got my first period at 7wks after and was pregnant again by 11wks:o

About 11weeks here until it completely all stopped about 9weeks for it to become really negligble - still havent had a period though but am breastfeeding

Mine stopped when bubs was about 4 1/2 weeks, got period at 6 weeks, then had another little bleed at 7 1/2 weeks. All normal though so i wouldnt worry!!:p

Becca- I bled a lot longer with DD2 than with DD1 - must be something to do with the site already having healed once or something?! Anyway - as you have gathered - quite normal.

The midwife told me that you will bleed more with every baby. My friend gave birth to her 4th and she said it was just pouring out of her - but apparently its normal:) just a pain in the neck though!!
