Ewwwwww! LOL!

Are they a bit frothy too? If that's the case, then, yes, its a bit too much foremilk. The solution is to leave him latched on the breast until HE pulls off, and then offer the other. Start a new feed with the breast you finished the last feed on, if that makes sense. And if he's not in any discomfort or upset about it, don't stress too much! :)

Oh, um, ew! LOL. I really don't know - but I would say if feeding for longer had a good effect on it, or any effect on it - do that....

Hope you find the solution soon! :hugs:

Hi. My bubs is a similar age to yours. I have also experienced green poos with my bub. I can't remember how old she was, maybe 4 weeks, anyway it lasted about a week and they went back to their usual colour. She was happy and healthy otherwise. My CHN said to try laying back a bit when feeding during the night or in the morning. She said maybe it had something to do with the flow and digesting the milk ???

Iron makes poo go green, too. If you've been giving your boy rice cereal (I know some people start early), that would do it as they tend to be fortified with iron.

Also, if you have had lots of iron in your diet, that would go through too, I expect. Nothing to worry about, though :)

I have heard so many mixed things about green poos.

I had a lactation consultant come and see me and she said there was no such thing as the baby not getting enough hindmilk and that over a period of 24 hours, baby gets the same amount of calories whether it be from hind or foremilk. Not 100% on that, though.

I have also heard that green poos are normal for breastfed babies and you shouldn't worry about it - According to Baby Love by Robin Barker.

Midwife told me though, that explosive green poos are because of too much foremilk.

I get too confused about all this stuff!

Hi Sheena,

DD had green poo ... probably 2 months ago. It went on for weeks. Then one day, it went back to the mustardy yellow. Not sure what caused it. She was feeding and growing well so I tried not to worry too much (altho I asked a lot of pple about it!!).

It might be a coincidence, but, she stopped having green poo when I started my nuts intake (honey roasted cashews ... yuuum).

Good luck :)
