Was just after some tips on how to get Ryan to drink water... I am really struggling with this! When we lived down south our doctor said not to worry to much about it as long as he still got his bottles but now that we are in nth qld i really think he needs to start drinking water... I have tried putting a drop of baby juice in with it but he won't take that either.....

Freeze it and give it to him as an 'icy pole'. Either on a stick (or those little plastic isypole thingos, or you can get some cloth mesh (you can get one especially for ice etc from a department store) or just make you own, and wrap the ice cube in the mesh for bubs to suck on. The ones that are specifically made have a clip on lid that stops the ice from coming out.. so consider something similar if you are going to make one.

Good luck

Mackenzie was like that too, she would never drink plain water....and is only just starting to now, but only if its from the fridge...and she's 2 1/2! MOst of the time, she has a tiny bit of Ribena or something in it, just to give it some taste :o .

I ended up giving her the baby juice except watering it down a bit more even. This she would drink...i figured it was better than none.

The icey pole trick sounds good though....good luck!

Nathan was about 11mths before I could get him to drink a decent amount of water and now at 15mths he will drink at least 3 cups a day. Hang in there, keep persisting and eventualy they will drink it.

You could try giving him a wet flannel to suck on. He probably wont get a huge volume from it, but it'll be better than nothing. Does he like his fruit?? Get heaps of that into him - watermelon, grapes, etc are good. Good Luck!

Thanks for all the advice ladies!

He does tend to like sucking on face washers (we use this as teething relief too!).

I am thinking of trying the juice again.... Maxs_Mummy suggested doing half and half to begin with and then slowly wean the juice.

The ice block idea is great! I will try it (although I will admit I don't think he will quite know what to do with it - but hey it is worth a shot!)

With the fruit he is only 9.5 mths old is that an ok age to start him on watermelon etc?
