DS has what I believe is eczema on his face and behind his ears, and little patches are now appearing over his shoulders arms and legs (and GP still insists it's 'just dry skin from winter'). I use QV oil in the bath, QV lotion after the bath, and sensitive washing powder.

It flares and comes and goes on the cheeks, especially if he gets hot from a fever or is teething, and i'm still trying to figure out the other trigger/s. When it flares I use QV cream to soothe it which usually helps clear it up, but there's a stubborn patch behind one ear which never goes away, and is obviously now itching him as he's now figured out how to rub at it madly, which is making it a lot worse.

I can't put hydrocortisone on it to clear it up because he rubs his hand on his ear then rubs his eye when tired, and also sucks the fingers on that hand when he goes to sleep. What can I put on it to relieve the itch that won't irritate his eyes and is safe if he ends up with some of it in his mouth?

Hi
Maybe some Simmons Paw Paw salve may help. It's all natural so no petroleum unlike lucas paw paw ointment. You can get it online or in health stores. Also it's made from vege oil and other safe ingredients if he ends up eating it.

have you tried a cold wrap/patch once his asleep if you think you could put one on?

dd has really bad excema and usually most of it goes but on her ankles and elbows she has shocking hard skin my pead told me to lightly dampen a chux wash cloth cut to size, i would to put her ecolin (sp??) or a mild cortizone creme there with a smear of zinc over the top then put the chux patch down. After 2 days it would all lift away the skin would be quiet raw but it did heal really quickly. i just used some tape to hold the patch there, not sure how behind the ear would work but if you can think of a way to stick a cold wrap there it might help :) i hopei explained that right
