Hi,

After receiving results from some testing, we found out we are having a little girl. Which is fantastic, but im really unsure of girls names. Hubby and I had boys names picked out but was completely baffled by names for girls.

So, here I am now asking members here if they could tell me some names for girls. We like pretty & Unique names but nothing too unusual. Below is a list of names we like if that sets any examples for whats yet to come.

Alexis
Georgia
Imogen
Emily
Emma

Thats about it, all i can think. I know there are so many names out there, but I have no clear thoughts in my head. Can you help please?

Hi Donna,

Congrats on finding out it's a girl. I just love the name Imogen. Others I like are Amelia and Bianca and of course Courtney (my DD's name). If I have another girl this time, she will be Calla Rose (pronounced Carla and meaning 'beautiful').

Good luck selecting a name.

Congratulations on the tests coming back fine, and finding out that you are having a girl. Here are a few names:

Tamara (which is what we will call our bub as long as it does come out a girl like they said)
Jasmine
Zoe
Maddison

They are just a few off the top of my head.
Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you.
Sticky baby dust to all.

Congrats on expecting a little girl! :)

Out of your choice of names i like Georgia, then Alexis the best.

Some suggestions:

Georgie
Jessie (my best friend just named her little girl Jessie May)
Madelyn
Charlotte
Callie

I have more, but they are all a bit more different and not as classically 'pretty'....

Its so hard isn't it!

Of what you have listed, I love Alexis.

A nice name, and she would be unlikely to find too many people with the same name in her classes at school.

emma and emily are very common these days...

i love the name emma-leah... could be spelt emalea or whatever i never got that far coz coby was a boy... and dp didnt particualy like it  ... we both agreed on mikaela (i wanted it spelt like that he wanted it normal way mikayla:rolleyes: ) for a girl... but now im glad he was a boy... coz we didnt really fight...

i dont particually like boys names that have been changed to make girls names (georgia and alexis) dont take offence to it tho just my opinion...

but then coby is a unisex name (even tho i wouldnt use it for a girl)

decide between u and ur partner... eventually u will agree on something :D

My Name is Alisha and i have only just started to really appreciate the name my parents picked for me....i don't know any Alisha's older than me...so i had a pretty unique name growing up and i hated that my name wasnt common like emily or emma or sopie.

When i found out that i was expecting a little girl i bought a baby name book and i swear that that made the decision harder. I had too many names to choose from. I named my little princess Tiana Renee. Tiana means "princess" and that had been the name we had adopted for my bump when the name hadnt been decided yet. So it fit perfect.

I also liked Savannah - but looking at Tiana - i cant see her being a Savannah.

Good luck to you for the reainder of your pregnancy and for the choice you and your partner have to make.....

I think Georgie great too! but then I would...I actually Georgina (which is a name in itself...not boys name) and I shortened it at about 1 and a bit to Deordie which became Georgie...my mum wanted me to have nickname of Gina but Georgie I was! I actually really liked having a traditional name which could be shortened to a fun name! Went through a phase when all professional when I tried calling myself Georgina but never stuck and made me think I was in trouble (as mum always shouted that!) My step sun now calls me Georgie - gina which I think cute!

All the names I think suggested are pretty much lovely and I like the older/ traditional European names...often cos they can be shortened...
Yeh Emily is popular but still so sweet and all the Emily's I know lovely!
My sister is called Emmarose (all 1 word) but people spell it often as 2, another is Henrietta which gets shortened to Henny, Henri and Hen (and she very feminine!).
Amelia is gorgeous! and I like Carlotta too (or even just Lottie).
Just go with a name you love and can live with and think your little girl(and big girl!) will be able to too...

This was our short list for a girl:

Alexi
Lexi
Alyssa
Taylee
Makenzie

I really like Emily too, very traditional and pretty. My fave atm is Molly, although it's bound to change by the time we conceive #2  Some other names I've heard that I like are:

Tamika
Krista
Isabel / Isabella

When I was younger I made up a name for a girl (as you do!) and I still think it's rather pretty:

(pro: sha-ma-ree) not sure how to spell it though

I really like Ava too. We can't use it with our surname though as our surname sounds like 'p*ss' so it would sound like 'have a p*ss'

Good luck with the decision.

Out of the names you posted I like Georgia and Imogen. Both of these were on my short lists and I say lists as the thought of naming my little girl was huge for me also. I had honestly never thought about having a daughter. She was a huge surprise and a wonderful one and as you'll see below we named her CHARLOTTE ROSE and she gets Charli, Lotte, & ROSY.

Best of luck. There are lots of beautiful names out there and you'll find the perfect one - I'm sure;)

When i was pregnant i found out i was having a girl and the whole way throught the pregnancy i was going to call my DD Charlotte Elizabeth, until she was born. As soon as i seen her i Knew that she wasnt a charlotte but couldnt think of what i wanted to call her. Eventually (4 days later) I named her Bailey Elizabeth. I love the name and it really suits her. But the amount of ppl that think she is a boy with bailey as her name is unbelievable. I dont think i would call a boy bailey cos its pretty femineme. U know wen the baby is overdue and everyone is ringing up to ask if you;ve had the baby yet and you just want to yell at them and tell them it'll come when its ready, well i think that it was worse having a baby with no name. everyone kept ringing up asking if i'd named the baby yet and put a lot of pressure on me to decide. in the end i had a list of names i could name and her and slowly each one got crossed off and i was left with Bailey.
It just goes to show that you can have a name picked out the whole time yet not use that name. :p

Hi. I have an Emma, which is a beautiful name. We only named her from our list of names after she was born and she was just so an Emma. It was only afterwards that we realised what a popular name it is. Not that it bothered us at the time...:)

Miss Emma has just started Year 2 in school. It was only last week that I realised she is the only kid in her class who always writes her surname as well as her first name on her work, because this is the first year since preschool that she has been the only Emma in her class!

Wow, great suggestions so far. Of course I love the name Georgia, and she gets Georgie for short, my other preference when I was pregnant was also Emily and when I had them I loved both so called her Georgia Emily. (And Oliver Michael) someone once said to me that I should have called them Georgia Olivia and Oliver George!
