I was researching about reflux, and came across this article:

http://www.minti.com/parenting-advice/937/more-and-more-children-are-getting-Acid-RefluxGurd/

"Breastfeeding- If you have a pump, pump your milk and smell about eight bottles worth to see if it smells acidic, It may vary on smell with bottles. Remember just because you don't have stomach acid doesn't mean your milk isn't acidic. Sometimes the smell is strong enough to burn your nose, other bottles it may not smell at all and then others may smell slightly like vomit. If you don't have a pump smell your childs breath for these same things."

What is this all about?? I have never heard of breastmilk being acidic before?

Sounds fairly bizzare to me. The author seems to be simply a member of the public who is a member of 'minti' who is spouting rubbish.

Suggesting you add formula to your breastmilk after smelling your childs breath?? Very breastfeeding unfriendly.

I had a thread here a few weeks ago complaining about my stinky EBM. I think what happens with mine is, unless frozen straight away and quick thawed for use, it digests itself a bit and goes smelly. Like vomit.

All breast milk has that component, it's what makes it easy for the baby to digest, the fact that it's pre-digested. I mean if you add breast milk to farex or something, you'll find it goes all watery because it breaks the proteins down.
