and I'm a little confused somewhat.....or I wasn't sure what to expect....

I had DS in his BBB with the small snap at the back, the large snap at the front folded into three, a liner on top of that.
Then I put a booster in between the nappy and the PUL cover.

When I got him up this morning, the cover was dry, the nappy was soaking through to the booster, he nearly had a poo-splosion out the side and he was damp in the singlet around where the top of the PUL cover sits.

So......is the nappy normally extremely soaking wet......if he was damp in the singlet does that mean the wee leaked out of the top of the nappy....if so does this mean I didn't do the nappy up tight enough or properly......should there be another booster inside the nappy as well as outside ?

Otherwise, I think I was pretty happy with the nappy.

The nappy is the outer shell of absorbency and should be wet. All fitteds are like that because there's no 'built in' water proof layer covering it.. which is the reason why you need to put a cover over them, make sense ?

It sounds like the nappy wicked, which will happen if the nappy gets so full that it just can't take any more fluids. That will explain the wet singlet.

The Nappy doesn't need to be very tight, just so long it doesn't fall off and there's no gaps between his nappy and thigh and that the nappy sort of hugs his belly.

You need to take into account how many hours the nappy is on and is he a big wetter. A PUL cover doesn't hold up at all over night with a really big wetter so maybe a knitted cover would be best for this. It also sounds like you need something like a fold up from Baby Beehinds to put between the two snap ins, which will add another 8 layers. They truly are worth it.

Maybe with the extra stuffing, the pul cover wasnt sitting on bubs properly. I would suggest wool Longies, shorties or soakers for over night. I have never had a leak with them.

My kids are heavy, heavy wetters and tummy sleepers overnight, and while I do use and prefer lanolised wool, I find that pul performs fine too.

I find the only solution is much more boosting. With a BBB I use the two snap ins, a Baby Beehinds bamboo fold-up (the one Lauren ^^ was referring too) on the inside folded in three and ANOTHER on the outside of the nappy folded in half and all is fine

Obviously that's a lot of boosting and because of that, BBB's don't fit as well as they could. This is why I prefer BubbleBubs Good Night Sleep Tight nappies (the heavy wetter version).
But the BBBs are fine for when the GNSTs are still drying.

My advice is to add more boosting  Will keep bub's skin much dryer too. Hope that helps! :)
