where does the ring go???

i've always wondered this and figured someone here could answer me...

you get engaged first, so you get the engagement ring first.

but then when you get married, the wedding band goes on first, and then the engagement ring...

so whilst you're getting married... where is the engagement ring kept??

i was 6 months pregnant at our legal wedding, and my hands were too fat for my engagement ring!!

its still tucked away with the necklace i was given as a wedding present at our first wedding, its quite big and chunky, so a bit of a hassle when im changing pooey nappies and doing laundry!!

got my wedding ring on tho, was so chuffed when i could get it on!!

My mum held onto it, and handed it back just after the ceremony, so I had it on for the photos.

Make sure you get it polished, or it'll look dull against your brand spanking new wedding ring :)

Mine didn't fit on my other hand so I put it in my little bag thingo, then after the ceremony I popped it back on. :)

I tied it to the horse shoe that my Chief Bridesmaid gave me the night before...the horseshoe had ribbons on it, so I just used one of those, and put it back on after the ceremony.

My mother always wore hers around the other way anyway (wedding ring on after her engagement ring, mainly because her ring was quite wide - I think). I decided that I wanted to do that too, so I kept my engagement ring on and put the wedding band on after (and that's the way it's been ever since).

I was engaged first, it makes sense to me (even if it isn't traditional). And truth to tell my diamond should be closest to my heart :D.

I gave mine to my maid of honour to hold on too, she gave it back to me with my flowers just before we sign the marriage certificate.

I didnt have a wedding ring technically. I had dp give me my engagement ring back. Atm its too $$$ to get the wedding band made for my engagement ring. I am happy with that though.

yep i did the same i put it on my other hand and the next day i put it back on my left ( thats only cos i forgot and dieing to get out of my dress bening 26wks preg ds, and wanting a shower cos i was hot a sweatie)

i was suffering from preggo brain when i got married (about 6.5 months along) so i forgot i was meant to take it off!! realised when i walked up to my DH so i slipped it off and gave it to him.

def get it polished up, mine was and it looked brand new!

of course now i am a housewife/mum, i only wear my wedding band - the claws holding the stones in my eng ring scratched my baby's head!

My sister (and maid of honour) had it tied to her wrist with a ribbon during the ceremony, and I put it back on before the photos. I also had my engagement ring cleaned for the occasion too :)

Well when I Got married, I forgot that it was on my ring finger, so as they were saying blah blah take her hand and slip the ring on, I was sitting there trying to secretly remove my engagement ring from my tragically swollen finger....THEN dh went to slip my wedding ring on and could only get it half way up my fat swollen knuckle :)...All of which was caught on camera and photos...As well as when mum points to her neck telling me that i forgot to wear my only nice piece of jewelery I bought for myself and I got that "oh sh!t" look on my face :o

Ah it really was such a special day.

I think I left my engagement ring at home that day. Didn't wear it at all, still don't as it doesn't sit flush with my wedding band.

They were both in the box and when he put my wedding ring on he put the engagment ring on after, and walking up to sign i turned it around the right way. it's a set and they fit together. Glad i did coz the pics looked good, they would have looked funny without them together. His sister is the manager at Goldmark Jewllers so he took them both with him the night before and she cleaned them and fixed them all up. They were all shining when i got them back at the ceremony.
