From memory, DS's godfather had to get the following...
-hand towel (to dry priest's hands)
-full size towel (to dry bub)
-bar of soap
-icon
-cross and chain
-bottle of oil
-new outfit
-large christening candle
thats all i can think of at the moment..
Are you greek? the priest that is performing the ceremony will be able to give you a detailed list of what you need.
Good luck and i hope this helps!

We also had a small sheet thats DS was layed on while dressing him is his new outfit.
The priest will be able to tell u what u need because each church is different.
Hi - MummyKristo almost had it! :)
This is the basic box:
- Hand Towel
- Bath Sheet (not normal size - the godparent's clothes will thank you for it)
- Soap
- Small bottle of olive oil
- Singlet
- Cloth nappy and pins
- Icon
- Oil cloth set (muslin sheet and bonnet - the christening outfit will thank you for it)
- Cross & Chain
- Christening Outfit
- Bib (plain, or can match the outfit
- Shoes/booties (depending on age)
- Lambada
From there you can add little extra's like:
- a brush and comb set
- a my first tooth/curl set
- a toy to distract a crying baby
- a "mati"

i have been told that it is imperative, that they baby wear socks and shoes after they are christened...not sure exactly why tho...
also if your the nonna you will need to buy the baby their first pair of walking shoes and its first coat...i found out that this is so that the Godparent helps the child walk safetly thru life and always be warm and sheltered.
(pretty cool hey :sunshine:)
Most places that do greek christening sell everything you need in packages...it end up cheaper that way.
DS2's christening is on Jan 6th and as his godparents are away in New Zealand with a newborn, we went out and found everything we liked and it's only going to cost the godparents $520...I so can't wait to have both boys in their suits!!
