But what she did was brought this bread (dunno what its called) she would rip the middle out and leave the middle of the bread empty FOR the dip...You think i can think of WHAT she put in it... NUP..
I think it had cheese philli, and not sure on the rest of the ingredients! anyone have any idea, Or have a recipe that sounds similar?
thanks:thumbsup: in advance

SNAP....... I jsut came into this section to ask the same question...
I want to know too... so, the majority say cream cheese with corn relish...
But does anyone know how to do the spinish one..?
Im gonna try google it and if I find any recipes I'll be back
I make a spinach dip in a cob loaf...
Spinach Dip
1 cup grated cheese
1 cup mayo
1 cup Sour crm
1 pkt Vegetable soup mix - I usually use spring vegetable
1 pkt frozen spinach
1 Cob loaf or sml rolls
Method
Mix the mayo, sour crm and veg soup mix in a bowl then put in the fridge.
Defrost spinach then squeeze all the juice out of it.
Mix the spinach in with the pre mixed mayo, sour crm and veg soup mix. I do this with a fork so you can separate the spinach better.
Mix in the grated cheese.
Cut the top of the cob loaf out, rip out the bread from inside and serve next to the cob loaf (you can put the cob loaf on the oven on low for a little to crisp it up a bit if you like) fill the loaf with the dip... thats about it, yummo!
I have a recipe for a bacon and mushroom dip served in a cob loaf too but only have it on paper not in my recipe file on the comp so will have to type it in for oyu all later.. that one is aweseom, just a little more work than the spinach one as you have to cook the bacon and mushies etc..

I mix corn relish with sour cream for a dip....its makes it have a little bit more zing instead of philly.

Yay you rock sasa...!!!!!!
Im going to make it for a up-coming Bub Hub BBQ and they can be my testers...
Im wanting a whole heap of finger food ideas for an up-coming celebration.
sorry to hi-jack this thread :o
if you search the recipe section on here you will find a few different recipes :)
for one cob of bread with inside pulled out i mix together:
2 cartons sour cream
1 packet frozen spinach (with water squeezed out)
2 packets of spring vegetable dry soup mix
then add praise mayo to taste - a fair amount (but i add a few squirts at a time till i get the taste i like)tip: make it the night before and leave in a bowl in the fridge to thicken up. Then the next day put it in the cob and also thinly slice some french sticks and man it is a HUGE hit at EVERY party or get together!! :smiliedance:

I make my spinach dip similar to Sasa's recipe, but I use more sour cream, less mayo, and no cheese (although I might add some next time :D ).
Often the carved out bread will go pretty quickly and people aren't proactive enough to start ripping the "bowl" apart. Often you need to lead the way, then everyone dives in again.
I took this to a BubHub meet and everyone LOVED it! I always get requests to bring it again, so it is my official BubHub food.

I do a warm bacon and chese cob loaf dip, always a crowd pleaser.
One onion finely chopped, 250 g bacon, chopped (about 4 rashers, or the pre diced stuff works too, saute in a little butter or non stick spray till the bacon is soft and onion transparent. Cool slightly.
In a bowl mix 1 carton sour cream, 1 pkt of pre shredded motzarella and either fresh or dried parsley to taste. Add bacon/onion mix and combine.
Put into cob that has been emptied down to about 1cm thickness, put into oven on about 170 C and warm through. Stir mix every so often to ensure even melting of cheese. Takes about 25 mins or so. You can also mix up the dip and take it with a cob when you go out and then put it together and warm while there.
I always serve corn chips too, cause they are really nice dipped in it.
