Since having Anna I have been more prone to illness (I have an underactive thyroid and PND to boot). My immune system isn't that crash hot and I'm sick again since returning to work. I am a school teacher and in the past have battled constantly with staying well. Does anyone know of anything that can help boost my immune system?

What about some Astragulus? It's a herb used in chinese medicine to boost the immune system.

Unlike Echinacea, it is suitable for constant use as a tonic.

I bought some at a health food shop. It's easy enough to get hold of.

You might want to go and see a naturopath who would be able to help you build up your immune system. I take a tablet called immunocare which is a metagenics brand that you can only get from a natropath and it helps build up your immune system, metagenics brand of tablets are stronger than ones you would get in a health food shop. I work in a child care centre and have a low immune system since having chronic fatigue back in 2000 so i have to make sure that im not run down and my immune system is not low.

hope you get better

there are heaps of things that can boost the immune system, but it is probably best to speak to someone so you can go though your symptoms more clearly, as the thyroid issue may be the problem, sounds like things are pretty complex for you. if you want some herbal advice, my partner is a practicing herbalist and a med student, and would be happy to give u some advice, even just where to start looking for help. pm me if you like:)

Hi there,

I have been battling with PND and have always had a shonky immune system.

For the PND I went and saw a natropath and it's getting heaps better, just don't expect it to happen overnight!

For the immune system I take spirulina, I have honestly been sick only once in the two years I have been taking it, it's wonderful! You need to get a good quality spirulina tho;)

Definately see a naturopath before you self medicate. Natural remedies are potent and can interact with any current medication used. The naturopath can advise you both of what supplements to take and also foods that can help.
