Its that time in my course, to attend two births before I can be certified. I'll give you a little lowdown on myself, so you know my background, and perhaps what I can bring to your birthing experience.
I am 44, and the mother of 8 wonderful children. Have always found pregnancy, labor and birth amazing and would like to be an advocate for other pregnant ladies who would like that extra support.
I've had many different births myself, which is as follows:
1st. 38 Hours, Lots of intervention, drips, pethadine, gas, stirrups (yes still did that back in the old days LOL) Was not a pleasant experience at all.
2nd. Stayed at home as long as possible. 10 hours labor, 1 shot of pethadine, in stirrups again though but fairly easy birth.
3rd. 5 hours, no pain relief, but still had to lay down for birth. She was my biggest at nearly 10 lbs, but the easiest so far.
4th. 8 hours, no drugs, beautiful birth.
5th. 9 hours. Stayed home as long as possible, rocked on all fours till delivery then I turned to sitting up right. Easy, beautiful, wonderful birth.
6th. Terrible pregnancy till the end, not because of actually pregnancy but everything that happened after he was thought to be a Downs baby from nuchal fold test at 12 weeks. The ongoing stuff ups didn't help the situation. Had an epidural because my older daughters were at the birth, got me up too early so had dura puncture. Operation two days later to have blood patch done to fix above problem. He was born perfect with no problems at all.
7th. After 6th childs scare, I opted for no testing at all. His birth was unmedicated, 7 hours labor, and beautiful.
8th. Normal pregnancy, but due to negligence, I experienced a cord prolapse, which resulted in emergency c section and my son transfered to hospital with intensive care facilities. After MRI's, not seeing him for two days, and all that follows during a c section, he is perfect.
So as you can see from the above, I have experienced quite a lot, and feel I can pass on my experiences to other mother's who need additional support for herself and her partner during this wonderful time.
My role is to be there totally throughout the labor and birth both for the mother and father, help them to make informed choiced and supply any information they require to have the type of birth they want.
I am avaliable before, during and after the birth if you would like. Its all about what YOU want...

Of course, this service is offered free because I'm in training :hugs:
