Hi

Could someone clear this up for me please. I'm perplexed

From reading about swim nappies I've learnt they're not meant to be absorbent as they can be too heavy etc, is that right?. They only hold poo in but that means the wee gets in the swimming pool, right? Isn't that not allowed in public pools? I hope I don't sound dumb :o

I'm confused. What do I use then instead of those expensive disposable swimmers? I asked a question about bummi swim nappies but so far no one has responded. So I'm guessing no one has used them on their bubs.

Could someone please help

Thanks

Um, I don't know about the different brands particularly, but I use a reusable nappy I got at Kmart - it's fine :)

I have no idea whether it's illegal to wee in public pools, but I'd like to see them try to stop a baby doing it!

The disposable nappies don't keep the wee in either.

HTH :)

The pool we go to we have to use those huggies swim nappies. I got told off for using an unstuffed pocket nappy which wold probably do an even better job.

If you did the maths, the amount of pee in a 10 x 5 meter pool , even if it was a total of 1 litre it would still only be 0.002% of wee.

Pretty miniscule really.

Also, I'm sure that there are more adults taking a sneeky wee in the pool than babies.

So wee doesnt bother me,.. but a floater might!

lol- I dont think any nappy is actually going to contain wee in the nappy and not have it escaping to the pool..... exy disposable ones certainly dont! As long at it contains poo it has my vote, along with being reusable. The sposie swim nappies are a total rip off and are bad for the enviroment to boot imo

 I don't think they are worried about the wee factor, it's the floaty bits they are worried about.

I agree expensive swim nappies aren't essential, you can get some really cute sets at target and kmart that would help to contain the poop. I'd say having to have a nappy or swimmers on bub is also a bit to do with protecting your children against nasty people.

An empty pocket nappy would work really well, but just beware that the PUL may get damaged from the chemicals in the pool water

Yep chlorine takes care of wee. It is (umm) solid matter that can spread disease. Swimmer nappies only contain solids (and not for very long either ).

Cheers

Thanks for your replies everyone.

I guess it makes sense about wees escaping and chlorine killing germs. But nevertheless I'm glad DH will be taking DD swimming instead of me :D
