I have just started to take the minipill (for last 2 days). my dd (6months) has been eating for less time at the breast and the last 48hrs it has gotten even shorter - about 4 mins only. she will not take any more. she is having solids and loves them and i always give her the milk first.

i know she is cutting back on the milk as my breasts feel really full.

can the minipill change the taste of milk? or increase or decrease milk supply?

thanks

It is widely accepted that the mini pill can change the taste of milk and/or cause fussiness or breast refusal in some babies. If you want to keep BF, it might be worth looking at other forms of contraception (condoms, diaphragm etc).

It seems that every woman's experience with it is different. For some there's no problems at all.

For me though... I reckon it did mess with both my head and my milk supply. I stopped taking it after about 2 months. We've always wanted 2 kids, so I just stopped taking it.

Dunno what we are going to do next time  I'll be talking to my GP about non-hormonal options.

. its the only pill i can take ( otherwise i could have a stroke with the normal pill..and i dont want to risk it)..anywho..i have known some mums who BF and the minipill does seem to upset there bubs..they tested the fact by going off it and found thier bubs went back to feeding like they were before the pill
