Hey coopsntilly's mum, it looks like I'm chasing you around the forums, or maybe we both have a lot to say! :)
Anyway I found that because I use to puree all my own vegies from the garden (yes I grew my own) It didn't matter how many different ways I mixed them up they would soon get bored with them and I didn't like store bought baby food so I use to add a little apple sauce and stir it through their food and they always ate it as it was a little sweeter.
One of their other favourites is carrots cooked in butter & brown sugar (not often because of the sugar) or sometimes a little honey drizzled over their vegies when they are a bit older, they seem to like the sweetness. If they wouldn't it something then I would wait a few months and try again as their tastebuds change.
Hope these help, they worked for me

I always found big pots were better as I had no weeding and always had plenty of vegies but never to much, it just seemed to work better than an actual garden, also if we ever moved we could it with us and not have to start from scratch again.
As the girls we able to do things as they got older I would buy them little pots so they could grow their own and they loved being able to plant/water and grow something (and also get wet & muddy at the same time) and also eat what they had grown it was also a learning experience of where some foods come from.
As they got older the pots got bigger, one of them still enjoys gardening today, the other loves to read! :)

We grew just about everything, the girls even insisted growing a watermelon and it survived the pot, we also had bean, carrots, strawberries, lettuces, cucumbers, just to name a few
Good luck!

Hi coopsntilly's mum, I'm glad that you have decided to try the pots, just remember to buy organic soil so it doesn't have chemicals in it and you know what's in the soil so your children & you guys will have real organic vegies.
Happy growing! :)

coopsntilly's mum I guess I can, as I said just use organic soil. We never used any fertilisers but in the off season we would update about 1/4 of the soil and mix it up really well and we never had a problem growing anything. :)
Good luck

hi there you lovely organic ladies!!!
i don't have much time or room for a garden myself, so i would really like some more ideas about what to give bubs (she's almost 8 months) as she's a hungry little critter and i worry that she's tires of fruit puree and mashed vegies (certainly tire of giving them to her!!).
Some other things I've introduced include:
mashed baked beans (loves 'em)
low fat cottage cheese (loves it)
tune in brine (not her fave though)
vegemite on wholemeal toast (she sucks on it til it's soggy and then swallows!)
but any other ideas about what bubs can eat at this age would be good.
thanks.

hi rachel, have you tried avocado? cooper used to love mashed avocado, he also loved bananas(still does!) and yoghurt that my mum would make for him. i found he loved those cabbage and corn fritters mashed up (the recipe is on another thread here) you can also puree some fish, chicken or red meat in with her vegie mix, try roasting pumpkin instead of boiling it before you mash it-yum! i also found sometimes mixing a bit of gravy in with his dinner gave it a different flavour. little ones also like spag bol (not to much of a spicy one though) and other pasta dishes, i just used to mash it up for coopy :)

avo's sound good. why is it that kids' fave foods are always the expensive ones? she loves mangoes, but they are always so dear too!!
mashed spag bol hey? excellent. always so much easier if you can make one thing for everyone rather than two seperate meals.
thanks!! :p

I always found when my girls we about 6 months or so I would feed them a lot of what we would eat just blended up. I didn't give them to many different choices all at once in case they have a reaction to something (mine never did).
Good luck :)

Yes, I feed our daughter most everything we eat (except spicy food or food that might get cuaght in her throat. she only has 4 teeth!)
Does anyone know at what age you should start giving them egg?? my gp said something at hte last visit about giving her egg now, but i forgot to ask if he meant yolk and white (i pressume he meant cooked egg...???). does anyone know about this?

My doctor always recommended that we wait till they were 12 months old before giving egg (cooked). If it was blended into the meal he wasn't really fussed. By blended I mean the egg was whisked and put into the recipe (eg cakes, meatloaf etc). Hope this helps.
