How can I achieve this? I know that using fabric softener on MCN is a big no no but is it for terry flats as well? Mine always feel so prickly. How can I make them lovely and soft?

What if you did the 10 min in the dryer before line drying and then grabbing them off the line just before they are dry and finishing them off for the last 5 - 10 mins in the dryer.

This is what works on hemp so I would imagine that would work on the terry flats.

Thats too much work :p Defeats the purpose of line drying, & I just go out when i get a chance.....which by then they are dry & scratchy.

we did a trade on our dryer for our new washing machine with my mum so can't do that unfortunately  but thanks for the tip

I havn't tried it, but have heard of putting white vinegar in the final rinse to make towels fluffy & soft... maybe it might work for flats?

i just give them a really good shake before i hang them up. and too much washing detergent buildup can make towels and nappies stiff and scratchy.

you could just do a hot wash without detergent every now and then.

It also helps if you dry them in the shade, and give them a good scrunch and twist when you get them off the line. :)

I give mine a big shake to loosen the fibres, and instead of hanging the ends with pegs I fold the nappy over the line so it's in half. It means they take slightly longer to dry (but we all know terry flats take next to know time to dry anyway!) but the longer something takes to dry the less crunchy it will be.

I bash them.

LMAO..

I bash all my bamboos and hemps and velcro fastening AIO's too.

I take them off the line and give them a really good beating against the side of the house. You may laugh... but remember all those old films where you'd see the women beat the washing with a big stick...

seriously it works :D

And really helps to bring down tension levels too...

my new saying... "Don't yell at your kids... go beat a nappy":p

Just be careful not to bash the snaps though... coz they can come off... ( I had it happen on one of my BBB's the other day... now I don't whack the ends, but fold them in half and just whack the middle while I hold the snap ends.)

 Will have to try that one. With how I've been feeling lately, it might get some of my frustration out :p
