View Full Version : Clothes after a c-section
Sorry if this is a superficial question or in the wrong spot (bit hard to choose with the CS threads).
I am trying to remember, are underbelly or overbelly pants better after a CS? I am getting some PJs and trying to decide. The overbelly ones would be massive but underbelly might sit on the scar I guess.
Do any of you have opinions?
I have had a CS but can't remember! I do remember flopping around in some hideous looking things and I want to look after myself a bit better this time IYKWIM.
Thanks!
Sue
ETA: I am planning on breastfeeding and had painful nipples etc last time so was wandering around topless a lot. Now I will have a toddler and visitors this may not be so practical!!
I definately couldn't stand under belly clothes. All my clothes were over the belly - undies included (hmmm not a good look) but was comfy for me):o
ETA: If you have a c-section though and end up needing a line to drain blood whilst in hospital (which is always a possibility) you will need over the belly things too.
Yep id say overbelly as well, after my c section i looked like harry highpants for awhile but i felt comfortable!!

Over belly. Big granny knickers and stretchy pants. Dont get anything that needs a belt or that has a tight waist.

Over belly  maybe a button up nightie might be handy if you are breast feeding. I wore a lot of stretchy skirts after I got home from my c section

Granny undies and a button front nightie for me.
I found it hard enough getting undies on and off because of all the bending - a nightie was much easier.
I was defintaley an overbelly girl... If I accidentally put on underbelly knickers - I was beside myself. It would rub and be really uncomfy... I was breast feeding - and front openeing tops and/or pj's were best for me.
Good Luck:thumbsup:

Over! Definitely over!
It was AGES before I could stand wearing anything that was near my scar. I wore granny undies for months...I think it became a bit psychological after a while
OVER, definately over. I remember with my last c/s nearly 2 yrs ago, in hospital I had button up top nighties and big granny knickers that were over belly, and not tight so they didn't rub on my wound.
My mum was super-organised and even sewed velcro into the sides of the knickers so I could take them on/off easily and not have to rub them up/down my belly for toilet breaks ( I wore these for the 1st 6 weeks of recovery). For those that can sew, you just cut the side seam and sew velcro into it, good for the granny pants that you probably will only want to wear until the wound has healed. My mum also made me a supportive belly belt that I wore for support under my clothes (big velcro for easy removal) and I wore skirts/pants that were loose and comfty but definatley OVER my belly.
I am having a c/s in 7 weeks and will be wearing the same stuff as last time!!
OVERBELLY...
underbellies are a BIG NONO!!!
it would hurt big time!

I took my lovely pink Bonds boy leg hipsters for after having DD. They sat really well under my belly when I was pregnant but after th c-section......ouch. I ended up having to cut the elastic in 4 places. Then they fell down:laughing: Mum went and got some grannies and I never felt more comfortable & unattractive at the same time.:p

I can certainly relate to that feeling.......funny though it didn't put DH off, we had sex two weeks after my c/s, even with me wearing unflattering granny pants!!
