When I was little I can remember my mother taking me to the Nutcracker some christmas's. I loved it, and would like DD to have the same memories and traditions. But she'll only be 4 years old this christmas and I'm wondering if that is too young to sit through an entire performance?

Does anyone have any opinions or experience with this?

Or, does anyone know of an alternative shorter performance of parts of the nutcracker or swan lake even, aimed at children (and in Melbourne preferably!)

Thanks!

Hi Martha!
Firstly congrats on 7,000 posts!! ;)

I think only you can really answer this question because you know your DDs attention span!! I think the ballet is good for any aged child who can sit still & quiet for an hour, at any given activity. If you think your DD can do it then I'd say go for it. With my DD I'll be waiting until she's around 8 or so as that's when I feel she'll be able to sit that long!
The other thing is - do you think DD will understand the story at all? I think its much more meaningful when kids get at least a tiny bit of the story.
Hope this helps & if you decide to go.....enjoy! :D
