Hi
my ds has 3 teeth and the 4th on its way.
I hear him grinding his teeth. Is this bad for them, why is he doing it.
I don't know if it grates my nerves more than does him harm
Anyone else with this problem

My DD does this now and then and I hate the noise. She has 6 teeth and another two popping up at once. I am not sure if it does any damage but when I hear her do it I try and distract her so she stops.

I am a tooth grinder and it is a terrible thing!
I have no idea how you can stop it but seek help now is my advice!
As an adult it causes terrible headaches, nausea, a clenched and painful jaw and numerous other problems
Let alone the dental bill! I once ground a tooth clear in half while sleeping - and my bite doesn't fit properly now because I have ground all my teeth down
Sorry to rant, I am just so pleased that I might help your tiny babies just a little bit for the future in avoiding this horrible habit!
Good luck and let us all know what info you find
Warmest regards
Jessie

I think it is pretty common for babies to grind as their teeth come through. It should stop after a while.;)

I'm a grinder too and it really is awful as a lifelong thing! Our son did it for a while- we got teething rings or toys to give him as it seemed it was a symptom of his need to chew. These things seemed to teach him to bite on something when he needed relief from the teething...bonjela and teething powder were used too...He seemed to grow out of it fairly quickly (unlike moi)...good luck!

Hi, I grind my teeth also and have a dental splint to protect my teeth from further damage. Grinding also causes jaw pain, headaches, you name it. Go ahead and rub your jaw just below your ear - if it's sensitive it's a big indicator of grinding.
From what I've heard it's not uncommon for bubs to grind. In adults it's usually caused by stress - but hey, what isn't - as for babies who knows? If the bub's grinding is severe however you should be seeing a dentist just to make sure.
