Oh tell me about it  We moved here in February for 12 - 18 months from just south of Sydney. Its a different world out here! I don't mind Renmark we have been there a couple of times on a day out. Theres a nice pub there and a couple of shops worthy of a day trip. But its a little smaller than Mildura.

Remnark is WAY smaller than Mildura. Then paringa is samller again. We have been here for about 4 months. My DH is building the new plaza. We are going back to Adelaide for good the first week in December. We're trying see this as a 'life experience' & of corse to pay off a few credit cards.
We went to Mildura a couple of times but like Renmark everything seemed to be closed on Sundays. Target here is really small so when the toy sale came I went to Mildura to get a few things for DD.
Are you living in the town or out in the bush a bit? Did you say you are TTC or have a bub?

Mildura is a funny place for shopping. The mall only seems to function early on a Saturday morning and by afternoon a lot of the shops have closed up  They still seem attached to the old ways as small business people. But if you go over the centro it seems to be its busiest on a Sunday or Saturday afternoon. The country town my DH is from is the same (Mildura has a lot of similarities to it actually)
I think the best thing about Mildura is its restaurant life which is so modern for a little country town.
We took our move to Mildura as an experience too. Unfortunately it hasn't been as financially great as we had hoped as moving out here cost us a fortune. I find the lack of family also much tougher than I expected. Our closest family members would be in Adelaide and its an 11 hour drive home (luckily there is an airport here if we need to go home urgently)
I found the toy sale thing really weird as 'at home" (which is wherever we are not at current ) toy sales involve sturdy shoes and lines out the door. In Mildura I drifted in all relaxed picked up what I wanted went to the register and left. No line ups anywhere not even layby  Don't shop a lot out here which I thought would save us money but it just means I do a lot of net shopping or stock up when we are home or in Adelaide lol (which I am off to this weekend coming :smiliedance: )
I have an 11 month old boy :D he is my shopping buddy
