Are you able to tell me how these work ?

Do you use these over cloth nappies instead of PUL's or similar or do you use these as well as PUL's ?

I've seen a few and am curious.

Are they easy to clean ?

What are the pro's and con's of using them ?

Hi, Wool is my all time favorite nappy cover.
They go over a fitted nappy and work amazingly well!

Cleaning wise - you can get machine washable covers like Baby Beehinds or Loveybums which you can chuck in your machine. Or you can get hand knitted ones, like longies, shorties and soakers which need to be hand washed. (Actually some hand knitted ones use machine washable wool, you just have to check before you chuck them in the machine.)

They also need to be lanolised every once in a while but they will all come with instructions on how to do this. Its really easy.

They need to be washed once every few weeks and lanolised a bit less often, but I lanolise at each wash, its just part of my routine.

PROS - Natural fibre, extremely breathable, best over night cover as they disperse the urine and it evaporates meaning they last longer than a PUl cover. The hand knitted ones look adorable. They come in so many different designs, hand dyed in gorgeous colourways and embellished.

CONS - I guess the washing and lanolising is a con, however it doesnt bother me in the slightest.

i guess another con is that they're abit bulky, being thicker than a PUL cover.
but if you use longies (pants) you won't need an additional pair of pants, so i guess it's the same as pants over a PUL cover.

but they're seriously so pretty, the handknitted ones.
and yes, breathable. and the cover itself absorbs some moisture, so you have a failsafe night nappy option.

yeah machine washable ones are good; the hand wash ones i just swish in my baby's bathwater after he's done.
but you only need to wash if they're pooey, or after quite a few wees if they smell.

lanolising is easy if you have a spray-on lanolin, just spray on and rub in.
i use pure lanolin melted in water.. it's a bit troublesome.
