I don't know if there is any point asking for advice here, but my 12 mo DD has just learnt to stand up in her cot and she does it ALL THE TIME and consequently can't / won't go to sleep. She's not a fan of sleep at the best of times but I'm going nuts now because the instant I leave the room she's on her feet screaming and doesn't seem to be able to get down. She can get down when she's calm but seems to forget how when she's upset.

Going back into the room makes her more worked up so I don't really like the idea of ducking in and out all the time to lie her down again because I think it's more distressing for her but I obviously don't want her awake for ages and upset because she's tired.

If anyone has any advice for teaching her to lie down and go to sleep, I'm all ears (or eyes if I'm reading :p ).

I'm not sure I have much advice. My DD never seemed to get stuck standing up. You could try introducing a few distraction toys to keep her sitting down until she's ready to sleep. I often left a few books for DD to look at (she's a real bookworm!)

If you haven't already done it, just a reminder to lower the cot base to keep your daughter from tipping herself out :)

coby started doing a similar things and refused to sleep in his cot so i put him into a big boy bed and he loves it...

this might not suit u tho... if u think bub is ready then maybe its time to switch

Oh yes its fun isnt it
NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are currently going through this also & im pulling my hair out but then i cant really complain as i have finally gotten him sleeping now. I just stay persistant as soon as he cries i go in & lay him down pat him & soothe him then leave & continue this. I cant do anything else as he refuses to be rocked now so i have to let him cry a little now even though this makes me sad but its not a proper cry its usually an attention thing.
Sorry im not much help :o

I have to say i now love walking into bubs room & him standing with a big grin to greet me of a morning either that or him pushed up to the bars with his legs & arms dangling out like he is in prison LOL
I love it hehehe :D

This is my daughter too
If she lays down I have a 50% chance of her getting to sleep but when she is standing she runs the show.
My best thing that I find to work is to tuck her in really tightly so she can't wiggle out and stand up. I stuff clothe nappys down the sid of the cot to make the sheet or blanket really firm. She eventually gives up after trying to do the "abs cruncher" thing.
Smiles oohh we love to smile and play peek aboo with the railing of course to no-one

Thanks everyone for your replies. She's still doing it :( but i think it's compounded by teething, constipation and having her needles (fun times!!) so hopefully it'll improve soon. Optimism never hurt anyone :)
