..... of day nappies?? I have some BBBs that I'm using at night and I'm about to check out some GNSTs but I'd like to look at going full time with cloth.

The idea of pockets is confusing to me, so I thought AIOs would be better for day use?? Which brand would you suggest for price and quality?

Baby Beehinds Magic All's
Nic Naps
BubbleBubs
HoneyBoy!s
SwaddleBee's
Berry Plushes (A12's)

These are great daytime AIO type nappies.

Whoa - just checked out the GNSTs and while I'm sure they're excellent nappies, there is NO way that DP would let me spend $52 on one nappy  I couldn't believe the price for a large heavy wetter was that high!!

Yeah the GNST's are expensive but well worth it for a heavy wetter apparently. I bought one 6 months (possibly longer) when they first came out and I'm ashamed to say that I haven't used it once yet. Washed it but never put it to the test. They are soo bulky that I'm too scared to use it. It's sitting here collecting dust :o

Yes if you like pocket nappies.

When starting out the best thing to do is trial different brands and kinds (AIO, fitteds, pockets ect) of nappies. The GK trial pack is worth it.

Most of our nappy stash use to be made up of GK pockets then I soon got over them.. stuffing pockets were taking it's toll on me and I moved onto fitteds. Saying that, it's important not to let anyone's opinion ruin it for you. Unless it's a really cr@p quality, waste of money nappy. Eg Most nappies that are on ebay. You really need to work out what you like using and what you don't. So long that you stick to well known, highly spoken about brands. Green Kids are one of them

i looove pockets, and hate AIOs! (mainly because DS is a heavy wetter and pees straight thru AIOs where pockets i just put an extra insert/booster in)

My fave AIO though is BubbleBubs (the only AIO he doesnt leak thru lol)

I love pockets because they are easily adjustable. I can put whatever I want in the nappy to soak up all the wee and the lining is smooth and easily rinsed, theres no layers on inserts or boosters where the poop can hide

And once they are stuffed ready to go I don't have to worry about covers and stuff. But I suppose if they had as many longies as they do jeans then I might consider using fitteds more :p

So with pockets you don't need a cover? And if you buy a pocket, do you generally need to buy inserts as well or do they come with one and then if you need more you buy more?

I'm still trying to work out my BBBs :o

Bum Genius and Haute pockets are a stalwart part of my day time stash. I only have one AIO- a loulou honeyboy! which I love dearly but hate trying to dry. I think variety is good, have some natural fibre nappies and also some quick dry options like microfibre :)

Some come with the inserts, some don't - it depends on the brand.

Inserts are really easy to make too, if you buy the hemp, bamboo and/or microfibre, you can cut and edge squares to fold up into your nappies, works out to be a cheaper alternative.

You will only need one insert per nappy, because just like a fitted you change the whole nappy when it's wet or dirty.

A cheaper nappy to build your stash are peapods, some people don't like them, but they are really affordable, and with the newer bamboo inserts they would work better. They are only $20 for the nappy and insert, so pretty good value. I add a microfibre booster to mine aswell, just the cleaning cloths folded up and put into the nappy aswell

That GK trial pack is soooo worth it! Go for it I say :D :D

I've had Peapods before, and while you kinda get what you pay for, they were good at the begining while I was building my stash. I reckon they'd be better now with those new bamboo inserts.

Other good pockets are:
BumgGenius (these ones come with an insert too, and IMO are better quality then peapods, just IMO)
Swaddlebees organic cotton velour side snap pockets

And, while I don't really like AIOs for normal day wear, these ones are workinbg well for us:
Berry Plush
Itti Bitti
Cherub's Kiss Honey!Boy

Thanks girls - I ordered 1 Pea Pod last night.

I thought I'd give it a try and if I like it, I'll buy more. Turns out that the store my SIL works at stocks them, so I should be able to get a discount on them and not pay for postage. I'll be visiting her in less than 2 weeks :D

And like I said, I'm still trying to figure out my BBBs - last night's effort was a disaster!

How did you use the BBBs hun?

For night they usually need:
Both snap-in thinggos
A bamboo fold-up (also from BB) or something like it.

A pul or lanolised wool cover.

I actually use another booster on the outside of the nappy, between the nappy and cover- so 2 bamboo fold-ups.

Because of this, our GNST's (the new bamboo ones) have been a great investment! No more bulky then a super-boosted BBB, even though they are pretty hefty, and I know that they'll never leak. I can't see how!

Up til now, I've been putting the small snap-in at the front and then sort of folding the long one around it, so there's like 3 layers, if that makes sense? It was still leaking though.

Then last night, I put the small one at the back and the long one at the front, folded in half - I have no idea what the logic behind this decision was, just thought I'd try it and see. Well, he woke up saturated almost up to his armpits and almost to his socks. I actually put him in the shower, he was THAT wet.

I had been using a woolen cover that I know is lanolised properly, but the nappies were still leaking, so I thought maybe the cover was too big. Last night I put a smaller cover on that I've lanolised myself - TWICE cos the first time didn't seem to work - and I don't think it was done properly this time either.

I can't really fit anymore inside the nappy - Seth's really long in the body and he's always had to go into the next size up sposie long before he hits the weight range specified, KWIM? I can probably put a booster between the nappy and the cover though. Do you think that would work?

I got the one for a medium wetter. I think it is worth it. It is quite trim as the boosting is on the outside and it isn't as confusing as I first thought. I only have one but would like a couple more.

I have pockets for my MIL to use and she finds them the easiest.
I am also getting some itti bittis - I like the idea of these as bub is having some problems with bulky fitteds and woollies :(

My fave nappies are WAHM made eg. Pookey Pockets, Bits for Bots, Whizz Kidz and Beetlebums. (fitteds)

Yep, should work better! The way you've been using the nappy is what most do for day use. Just the nappy and the snap-ins only lasts us one or two wee's here.

Definetly boost nappies for night  You should have much more luck.

So I bought some microfibre cloths today - do I just put it between the front of the nappy and the cover?

HoopDeeDoo

As long as it's not touching bub's skin you can put it wherever you want. The only danger about putting microfibre with fitted nappies is that it may shift and end up on baby's skin somewhere. Thats why mcrofibre works well with pocket nappies, because it's stuffed inside the pocket and can't move around
