Hi

Wondering if its ok to have soy milk while your breastfeeding? Since EJ's wind is pretty bad i thought id see if some of it was caused by my milk intake etc by having soy instead in coffee (i have very milky coffee). Ive read though that soy can be an allergen to babies also?

Thanks

Soy is very allergenic, I would avoid it. Try rice milk or oat milk in your coffee, it really doesn't have much taste so you may not notice it as much as you would soy. I don't really know that cows milk would cause much wind through your milk though. Anyone else know anything more?

Hi Cathyn,
The above link is a paper written by Brisbane LCs Robin Noble & Ann Bovey all about Lactose intolerance/windy baby. It does touch on the subject of Soy being a potential allergen, however Cows milk is to, so if it helps bub to digest your BM then is has to be no worse than cows milk? There are other milks you could try also Rice/Goat.
Hope this helps:)
